Stats: PREGNANT (was 130 8 months ago)
WOE: zone/ south beach ish...
Start Date: March 7
Hi, I am new to this thread. I am so excited about callenetics. I have been working out 5 times a week every week for the last 7 years consistently trying to shave down my incredibly out of proportion legs. But then I got pregnant (I am 8 months now) so I am toning it down and looking for new exercises to try and accomplish my goal of not having huge thighs.

Pre Pregnancy I was about
5'7" 130 lbs 18% body fat
26" waist
26" thighs

Do you see the problem??? My thighs were as big as my waist (being 8 months pregnant my waist is no longer existant).

So I pledge
15 hrs Callanetics (4 done)
16 hrs cardio (elliptical) (8 done)

I've only done 10 hours so far, but I see a big difference so I'm very hopeful that it will minimize even more with time and callanetics.

I do an hour walk on my days off, but I'm about to completely change my schedule next week. I want to add lifting on M-W-F and do the callanetics on T-Th-Sat-Sun so I can really get a good stretch on the off lifting days. I'm still going to keep up my walking for this month, but next month I'm going to scale back on them.

Thanks for the reply. I have so far done 5 hours and in my off days i do Jillian Michaels 'Banish Fat Boost Metabolism' . I am hoping to incorporate strength training in between the cardio. In the last 5 sessions i feel like my belly is getting small but there is no change in the pooch. Hope i lose it. I am not going to give up.

Don't give up. It will take time to start losing it but I bet you will notice a change soon. I have done over 10 hours of Callanetics and now I can really see the changes. My behind is so much higher, my inner thighs are shrinking, the belly is getting flatter, the cellulite is smoothing out, and even my hips are getting smaller. I can also tell in my neck and that double chin is finally going away!

But i just forget doing it and it gets tiring after a while, to do zip and hallow practice makes much more sense.

So I will do zip and hallow until 12th week and in the mean time I will start swimming this week. I am assuming it is safe to do all the other exercises other than tummyin 10/10 and Evo would you agree?

thanks so much again!

you have to visit Adana sometime so that we can do callanetics together!

Rana

Hello Rana !

Would love to come to Adana, really miss it. Ömer has been there for 2 months during winter season and I was dead jealous, couldnt come along myself .

Keep doing the zip and hollow and in no time your tummy muscles will recover from pregnancy and you will be well prepared for the stomach exercises. The only exercises I wont let my postnatal ladies do are the ones where the tummy area gets stretched a lot like the warm up 1 (hanging from wallunit 10/10) and the thigh stretch (after pelvic scoop 10/10). I think an extreme stretch of the tummy area isn't good for the scar healing after C-section. When doing the waist stretch try to lean your upper body forward just a bit, again to protect your scar and to prevent overstretching that area. Everything else should not be a problem. Be sensible and listen to your body, pregnancy and birth are a major job for your body so don't put yourself under too much pressure.

Best wishes, Romy

From 10/10 only completed 1/10 of my sessions thus far this month, but have been keeping up with the elliptical everyday for my cardio so thats something, minimum 2 miles.

The question I have is how exactly different is the CardioC vs some of her other videos? I did the 10/10 back in the 80s and 90s which I love, around 2000 I did the am and pm dvds, but I just couldnt stick with them for some reason and another video that is currently escaping my mind. 10/10 has definitely been my favorite so far. But I do like the faster pace of other videos like the Crunch Series or Jillian Michaels. Would it be worth it to get the CardioC later on?

callanetics on period days

Hi guys,
Can any of you let me know is it ok to do callanetics on your menstrual cycle. I usually have it anywhere from 3-5 days. If i should not do it when can i start doing it. Thanks!! This forum is so great for whoever is beginning Callanetics. I did not even realize abt the pelvic muscles. That whole thread had so much information.

I have completed 5 hr so far and already have lost more than an inch off of each thunder thigh! Only 5 more inches until I reach my goal and I am so excited. After years of working out religiously I just figured having abnormally huge thighs was something I would have to deal with (it is not genetic- both my sisters have very slender bodies) so I am very optimisitic. Who thought I would be 8 months pregnant when I finally started seeing results?

It is so exciting!

Hour 5 done - evolution.

I have done a total of 17 hours since starting with the calanetics DVDs and the differences in my abilities, flexibility and strength since hour 1 and today are incredible! Not to mention the physical results... And the relaxed feeling after each hour!

Do any men post on this thread? Or do any of you women have husbands/boyfriend who do Callanetics? I would really like to get my husband to try this. I am just getting back into Callanetics but I used to do them regularly a few years ago and I just love how they get you in such great shape without jarring your joints or getting your heart rate up to scary levels. My hubby has some health problems and it scares him to do aerobic type exercise but he is complaining about being so weak. I'll bet if he did a few hours of Callanetics he would feel a lot better. I think it might be the 80's ballet outfits in my AM/PM tape that is discouraging him from trying. I do have the newer CardioCallanetics but it does get the heart rate up a bit higher than he feels "safe" with. Maybe I could get him to try just the toning part? Any suggestions appreciated.

I got my husband to try it with me- mind you he had a beer or two in him....he hated it! He complained the entire time (he did concede that the abs worked him better than anything he has ever done though). I dont think he will ever do it again.

Is your hubby capable of lifting weights? I wouldnt recommend free weight until he is much stronger, but the nautilus machines would be a great start. My hubby hates cardio and only does it when I make him run with me- but because he lifts weights and follows the zone diet with me (and he does a lot of protein and creatine supps) he looks amazing and is really very strong. He is even bouncing back from a terrible shoulder injury- he just had to build up to it and strengthen the muscles around it. He swears by Mark Ripto's books and techniques.

Newmama10 ~ My hubby has tried it too. It was absolutely hysterical and he was not kind to the guy in the video (Super Callanetics). It was terrible. Now it is called Mommy time and the men must vacate the premisis

Hour 5 Done for this month also walked 5.5 miles today. I am exhausted and now would really love a nap....wish I had a genie and they could make dinner for the family

Callanetics is great for men. I know a lot of men get put off by the leotards and 80s fashion in the old videos. But if they can get past that it's actually a really effective program.

Here's a photo of Thiago doing Callanetics on a beach in Ibiza:

A few days off due to my body breaking down.
