I just want to say hats off to Hoppinn for quietly yet consistently making her goal every month.... Don't think we haven't noticed!

WooHoo! Did my 2nd hour of 10/10 today. So far so good. I swear I feel tighter already (at least mentally.)

So, that's 2 out of my planned 8 this month. Definitely still sore, but today was more manageable.

Hi Sandra Hannah and everybody else

Cant believe I havent checked in for 10 months!

I have my baby now. Sooo ready to start callenetics again! Unfortunately I didnt exercise at all during pregnancy sinc my morning sicknes was absulatelty terrible for so long than had some complications. All is good now have a healty beautiful daughter

Sandra, I have a question.
I had C cection about 5 weeks ago. I feel ready to have a slow start to both 10/10 and Evo. My Doc told me that I could walk and swimm whenever I feel ready but should avoid any tummy exercises for 3 months.
whats your perspective on this? Did you have any students starting earlier? My doctor loves to be over cautious and I undertand that. Even if I start I would go very slow and listen to my body but I was curious if you had students satrting earlier than three months.

thanks!
Rana

I am re-starting my own March Callanetics challenge from today with a self-imposed 'boot camp' thanks to some inspiration from the very lovely Twyla (thanks Twyla!)
I have been doing Callanetics fairly regularly but lately I have been slacking a bit by zoning out & just going through the motions and missing out exercises I am less keen on (pelvic rotations anyone?!) This will no longer happen! I propose to do ten sessions of 10/10 for the next ten days (missing out one as I have a funeral to attend) and concentrate on form through every single pulse/stretch. I will also measure today and after session 10 to track progress. And I will eat clean! As I am a seasoned Callaneticser (?) I don't see any problems with the frequency of exercising but, of course, I will listen to my body and add in an extra rest day if needed.
I should just add here that even though I haven't been so hot on form lately, my body is still relatively okay which proves that even a half-hearted attempt at the magic that is Callanetics, is better than nothing at all.
Sorry for the overlong post but a) I'm really excited and b) I wanted to put this out there so I know I have to be accountable.

For those of you struggling with the pelvic rotations... I found something on YouTube that might be of help. Do a search for: callaneticswithagnes.

Thanks! I will check it out. I definitely struggle with it.
I did 1hr on Friday and another hr on sunday (10/10). But it is very difficult to maintain proper form. So far i have done 4 hrs. I hope i will get better with more sessions.

Sandra i have a question for you
:
Do you think i should move on and do callanetics evolution or stick with this (10/10)? I started just last week with callanetics. so far i have done 5 hrs. But looking at the Evolution preview it looks more modified and simpler. I definitely struggle with both hips and behind and the pelvic rotations. Thanks.

I did an hour of 10/10 yesterday. I am up to 4 hours for the month and a total of 9 so far this year. I can really feel the stretches in my pelvis during the stretches for your bottom line. I did them yesterday while at my mom's house. She is very impressed with how flexible I'm becoming in such a short time. So she is going to buy her own dvd.

Beginning callanetics, AM-PM or the Evolution? I only have the 10/10 and cardio callanetics both of which would be hard for her. I don't want her to abandon this exercise just because it feels difficult at first! Also, she is in India. Anybody know a cheap way to send them to India? Are these DVDs available there?

Thanks a tonne in advance!

Anyways, suggestions anyone?

newmomtx- Isn't that the best feeling? I'm no expert but I think Evolution would be a great place to start. Don't know about shipping it to India.

Yes Mulberry32, it was amazing!

But now I got suddenly busy with my job search ( well pray I get one .. ) and couldn't do any exercise in past 4 days.. I don't feel my thighs as lean as they were 4 days ago! Am I imagining things???

Anyways, do you think Evolution is a good place to start for a very beginner?

newmomtx-i do think Evolution is a great place for a beginner. It shows beginner, intermediate and advanced exercisers plus you have Sandra Hanna guiding you and she is great. There is room to grow but you still get a great workout no matter where you start. It is so relaxing!

You are not imagining things. I feel the same if I miss too many days of callanetics. The great thing is that once you do it again you get that lean feeling back.

Good luck on your job search!

You can count your trial hours you know. Every time you do Callanetics you'll learn and get better, and then just when you think you know it, you'll hear something new. This never really stops. There's always something to learn and improve, as far as technique is concerned. So give yourself some credit where credit is due Princessmw33!

So you did 2 full hours... would you say you tried to do the exercises for the other full two hours? did you get through one?

The first time I got just about all the way through it when I ran out of the time t hat I had. I was having problems with my DVD player and paused it the one time and it went back to the beginning so then I couldn't get it to fast forward. It would only go to the next chapter. So I had to sit around and wait 30 plus minutes for it to get to the spot that I was at. The next day I decided to try it for 30 minutes so that I could start to work on form.

I will stay just counting my 2 full hours as part of my goal. 8 more to go!

I got my fifth hour in today of 10/10 so only 11 more to go this month. I agree I love how great I feel when I'm done.

I still don't do everything perfectly and am still learning proper form. I think it's a work in progress. I was bending my elbows on the side stretches but now I'm keeping it straight. I was also squeezing using my inner thighs on the last one instead of just holding and squeezing with my feet. The last 3 hours I've been holding and squeezing using my feet. No biggie but now I do them properly. I still can't really do the thigh stretches very well. It's hard for me to bend back like that but I keep trying. I was able to finally get all 10 leg exercises when you lower yourself down and back up. Each time I do something better or longer than I could the last time.

You know what? With my damaged left knee it felt like I was trying to stretch cartilage when I first started, and I was feeling it in the middle of my thigh! Eventually, the cartilage feeling started to move down my thigh, toward my knee. All that time, my right thigh, was hardly getting a stretch at all. But now there's no cartilage feeling, and I feel the stretch evenly on both sides. It took about two months for it to go right down to my knee, and another few weeks or so to even out completely. So don't worry, it'll happen, just be patient, and listen to your body.

Back again

Hi everyone !

I am finally back here after a difficult time I lived through this winter due to some family matters.

I read the posts now and then and I am impressed with the progress you all are making. Lots of new faces here as well - GREAT !

I am back to doing Callanetics myself and I enjoy it a lot. 2 hrs done this month.

Happy pulsing everyone
