I am really happy with it. The advice I would give you about that is to think deeply about what you are going to get don't just pick something random...and it will mean so much more!
I'm going to check Walmart for the gloves. Fingers crossed that they have some. You don't look like you'll be turning 40 soon...not even close! Congratulations on 20 years in the forces. That definitely earns you a tattoo!

I think one of the reasons I haven't yet gotten the tat quite yet is because I have been thinking long and hard about what to get. I've got a few really good symbolic ideas in mind. Just have to decide between them. Just something small, but that has a lot of meaning. Thanks for the advice.

Lots of already or soon-to-be 40-year-olds on this thread it seems! My big birthday is at the end of June and I'm actually really looking forward to it. I'm working towards being in the best shape ever and generally like where my life is going.

I guess 40 is just not as old as it used to be!

That was my motivation exactly. This time last year when I first started doing P90X, my goal was to be in the fittest, tightest, leanest shape every by my 40th b-day this past December...and I was able to fulfilll that goal. I'm still trying to get my abs a little tighter. No showing of a six pack yet - had a stubborn belly pooch so there was a little more fat there to lose than other areas. Glad to say that the pooch is all but almost entirely gone now so I'm working on getting my ab muscles to show now, and that is my motivation for turning up the heat and kicking things into high gear with Doubles.

But as I always knew it would when it finally came - being 40 rocks!!! If someone created a time machine that would allow me to go back in time, I still wouldn't choose to go back to any of my previous ages. I feel I am at my best right now, and plan to only get better!

Such craziness in my body right now folks. I'm sore all over and the scale has gone up 2.5lbs since yesterday, yet my clothes are ever so slightly looser! That couldn't be new muscle already, could it?

I have Cardio X today as soon as I can find someone to watch my 4-year-old for an hour or so (I still need at least an extra 15 mins to complete the workouts). I was supposed to work out at 6am this morning, but I slept really poorly, plus the monkey woke me up four times last night so I was desperate for more sleep.

Anyway, I'm going to do my best to lay of the scale for a while, since the numbers only make me panic.

paleopaleo: Stay off that scale!!! Let it be about getting fit and not seeing a particular number on the scale. Weigh only every thirty days or so if you really must weigh yourself. Other than that, just keep plugging away at the workouts and concentrate of getting fitter, stronger and leaner, and trust me, the only changes you'll be concerned about is the REAL changes your body is making and not the fluctuating numbers on a scale. And if you clothes are fitting loser, you are getting leaner.

Don't lose your focus! You're doing great! Success will be yours!

April 12 is my start date! I have 4 more weeks of Turbulence Training, them I'm going out of town. I'll be taking my homemade suspension trainer with me. But maybe I will take Insanity instead. Nothing like impressing my inlaws with my physical fitness.

I just completed Cardio X for the first time and was surprised at how much fun it was. Whacky jacks anyone? I'm not sure how much cardiovascular conditioning I'm actually going to get out of it though. Afterwards I jumped on the treadmill for 20 mins just to get a bit more of a burn - and to get rid of the extra carbs I'm eating LOL!

By the way, after getting a little taste of it today I'm really looking forward to Kenpo! I'm betting it's a great stress buster.

Pleaides: What is Turbulence Training exactly? I've heard of it, but don't know all the ins and outs of it. Is it something you're doing at home, or is it a gym thing? Oh yeah...you'll definitely impress those inlaws with Insanity...lol

Paleopaleo: Cardio X is a good little workout for when you're short on time. I still feel a sweat with it. It may not pack the same punch as Plyo, or even Kenpo, but it still gets the job done. I like how it includes different exercises from Yoga, Kenpo, Plyo and Core Syn.

I still think Kenpo is awesome. I can't wait to invest in a pair of weighted gloves so that I can really up the ante.

Completed Chest/Back/ARx and cardio last evening. Plyo was this morning. Will be doing supplemental cardio this evening.

I love wacky jacks! I was thinking about them this morning as I did regular boring ones!

Turbulence Training is Craig Ballantyne's program. There are tons of routines (gym or home, depending on your equipment). They start off with bodyweight only exercises then add in dumbbell work. It's mostly supersts of 3x6-8, sometimes higher rep if it's unweighted. It uses interval training for cardio and sometimes complexes. There's nothing particularly special about it, but he does put out a LOT of different routines. To get most of them, you have to be a paying member to his forum, or buy the ebooks. I don't belong to his site ($30 a month, I think ) but I was able to piece together a 12 week program from the stuff he posts on his blog and Facebook page. The story behind TT is that Craig only had about 40 minutes a day to workout while he was getting his degree (something in athletics) so he wanted to try to get the most bang for his buck. I Craig Ballantyne. I totally have a crush on him.

Exactly! 40 is the new 20! I'm 40 too. You're only as old as you feel! Funny how being 40 and P90X go hand-n-hand. We should be the 40 gang on the next infomercial.

H20, I love your new avi - You're a rock solid babe and even though you can't be a coach in Canada, I nominate you as our coach.

I seen a post on the main page about losing fat while lcing without excerise...
My first time on Atkins, I lost about 80lbs without excerise but had looseness. Back then, I was getting ready to go on vacation, so I hit the gym hard...It didn't work though, I was still (imo) baggy-looking.

This time on Atkins, I excerised while lcing and can tell I've toned alot so I'm a firm believer that they (lc and excerise) go together.
Try convincing others, is another story...

I'm still bringing it!...Although I felt like I pulled a muscle under my rightside shoulder blade or maybe just a DOM. I'm modifying things until it goes away but won't stop because I know myself and if I take a "break" because of soreness then I'll have a hard time getting back at it. Plus, reminding myself that "soreness" is the outcome of bringing it!
Nothing that Motrin can't fix!

Way to go and to everyone! Stay focused and remember that summer is just around the corner.

Pleiades: Turbulence Training sounds like something I'd enjoy. I've heard others give it rave reviews, but wasn't quite sure what it was all about. I Googled Craig Ballantyne...he's easy on the eyes fur sure! lol

Madger: Thank you for the compliment on my new avatar and your kind words. P90X has changed my life so much this past year that I can't help but sing its praises! You're making a dark-skinned gal blush over here....lol And yes, 40 is the age to be! It was one of those milestone ages I'd been looking forward to and I'm happy to be here.

Regarding LC and exercise...back in 2005 I did moderate, non-commital (bits of cardio here and there) exercise for the first six months into LC'ing. I lost all my initial weight within those first six months but was skinny-fat...looked fabulous in clothing, everyone called me skinny-minny etc., but was secretly disappointed that I had a lot of hidden flab under my clothes. It has taken me a while to get where I am now, physically speaking, but I am far happier now at 140lbs than I was at 131lb, 135lb etc, which is where I had dieted down to in the beginning. So....131lb and skinny-fat, or 140-145lb and rock solid? I'll take the latter, thank you very much.

RE DOMS, I welcome them...and as you said, it 'ain't nothin' a little Motrin can't fix!

Completed Cardio X yesterday and Shoulders/Arms/Ab Ripper X this morning.

I know the term skinny fat. Right now my weight is situated in my hips and my abdomen. Hate it! I wear layers a lot because I don't like flab hanging out in form fitting clothing. Not my thing. I want to be able to wear form fitting clothes by the time summer arrives so that's what I'm working towards.

Agreed. I've learned over the past couple of years that cardio alone wasn't cutting it. Cardio alone doesn't help lean you out. To get tight and toned, strength training must also be a factor.

I can't keep up with this thread, so I'll just say hi to everyone here.

Yesterday was Plyo, today was Back & Biceps + ARX.

Yup, doing ARX FIRST sure makes things a lot easier. I dare say if I was still doing it at the end of my workouts it wouldn't be getting done. :|

I got on the scales at work yesterday and I'm still the same weight as when I started. **rant** Not happy.

Yes, I know. Put the scales away ...

I can't help but be totally bummed with the knowledge that I haven't dropped any numbers.

Hopefully during the rest of Phase 2 I'll be shredding it ...

I will have to catch up on the thread a little later. I just wanted to say HI!

Up early ... insomnia ...

Getting ready to do yoga, not the P90X yoga, don't care for that one. Will do some Eoin Finn Magically Bliss routine. I feel like skipping the yoga but I won't, it always makes me feel better in the end.

Hi Bakergirl!! Welcome!! I'm glad you're feeling better and healthier already. And CONGRATS on the 4lb weight loss!!! You GO girl!!!

darlingnikki: I eat six small meals a day and find that, that helps me keep the intense hunger away. Since I know I'll be eating every couple of hours, it helps keep my cravings at bay. I eat lots of protein, grains and good fats, this includes Steel cut oats, sweet potato, brown rice, chicken breast, broccoli, spinach, asparagus, salmon, eye of round steak, eggs, turkey bacon, fruit, cottage cheese, almonds, walnuts etc. I always drink my protein shake after every workout and allow my self a protein bar here and there.

CRUSHED Shoulders/Arms this morning! Didn't have time to do ARX so I will do that along with my cardio this evening.

Don't have any pets so I can only imagine what it is like to have a dog who simply MUST have his/her daily walk...lol

Major congrats to you on doing all 25 in and outs this morning!!! That is a great accomplishment! And speaking of abs, mine still have DOMS from Monday's ARX workout....but I'll still be hitting ARX hard and heavy this evening!

I have always known that P90X was insane, just didn't know I could find a bunch of people that were insanely in love with it.
It's wooing me, slowly, but surely. One of these days am gonna find the strength inside to get on its wagon.
In the meantime, I'll be here on the sidelines admiring you all....Wow!!!

Oops forgive the double post.

I will have to catch up on the thread a little later. I just wanted to say HI!
Congrats on the 4lbs! I have dodgy knees too but manage to get through it by modifying where I need to.

Good job on getting to week 5!

I've been getting really hungry too, but have tried breaking meals into smaller amounts throughout the day. I don't eat more at lunch or dinner, it's just a steady stream of snack type foods throughout the day for me.

I'm going to see how I go with this for a while.

Getting ready to do yoga, not the P90X yoga, don't care for that one. Will do some Eoin Finn Magically Bliss routine. I feel like skipping the yoga but I won't, it always makes me feel better in the end.

I'm going to try and find Tony's Fountain of Youth Yoga DVD and see how that goes. Yoga X is just too long for me. I'll keep doing it meanwhile though I guess.

you all just need to get a 8 month old golden retriever who does not care what phase or day or what exercise I am doing she wants her 60 minute walk or she will tear up the basement ..

On second week and i actually did 25 in and outs this morning in ARX ..paid for it later but first ab exercise that i did 25 on...
I understand the dog thing. I have a Boxer. Nuff said. :/

After the first 45mins of Yoga it does get better I guess. The first 45 is tough especially knowing it goes for 1.5hrs and you don't know what to expect in the second half.

The strength part of the workout is in the first 45, the rest is balance and co-ordination mostly.

Hey! I love your carefully chosen wording to not call us all insane.

Just start, and see how you go with it if you already have it.

I did Kenpo today. I'm shuffling around my workouts again to suit my schedule. I'm doing Legs & Back tomorrow with ARX.

I'm going hardcore for the next 8 weeks. I'm really going to try and limit carbs and stick to an Atkins 72 plan if I can.

I'm finishing up at my current work and heading to Fiji for a week before I move onto my next 'life' working closer to home. I want to look better in a bikini than I do right now. P90X isn't cutting it as much as I'd hoped. I still have a few weeks to go though, so here we go! lol
