My goodness....stay away for a couple of days and there's ALOT to catch up on! Great. We've got pretty weather here at the moment, it was 61 degrees here today and sunny. Took long walk and got in two more 10/10's since I checked in on the 15th.

Things are moving up, not in

It looks odd. I seem to have more stuff on top of my hips. I was wondering if it was part of building a peach rather than a pear.

My instructor said things are just moving up before they pull in. Is there anything I can do to get it to pull in?

Last time I did this, I pulled in before I moved up.

This made me laugh! Thanks!

Don't worry, it'll pull in. Callanetics just likes to surprise us sometimes.

If it makes you feel better, I just got puckery butt & thigh syndrome all over again. I'm hoping the non-dimpled parts will shrink down to where the dimpled parts are dipping in to, like it did last time it smoothed out; like I'm just melting the next layer away.

Keep it going ellenalisa!!!

Don't forget this!

Hi everyone - newbie here!!!
I would like to join in on the 2010 Callanetic Challenge - I know Im a little late to start for January, but I intend on squeezing in as much as possible before the month ends, then I can catch up with everyone else in February.
Quick question - when you are showing 10/10 is that 10 - 1 hour workouts in a month??
Just curious!!!

10/10 is 10 years younger in 10 hours so its a title of the DVD and, if say they have it written like this.... 2nd hour of 10/10 it means 2 hours so far of 10 years younger in 10 hours, some people here are doing different callanetics DVD's hope that helps.

8/13 of 10/10...

hour 8 out of 13 of 10/10. I took Sandra's advice and pictured the counterpulls through my legs/knees/head, and it felt sooo good.

Tweet... you will be aiming for 10 Super C so count them off when you do them like.... 1 hr of Super c completed that makes 1 of 10 so far and so on, btw you dont have to do 10 you can aim for 5 or 15 its entirely up to you.

I did my 4th hour of the 10/10 last night and tonight I hope to get my 5th. For the stomach exercises am I supposed to be feeling it in my lower stomach as well? I generally feel it mostly in the upper abdominal area?

Last time I did this, I pulled in before I moved up.

We tone from the calves up and chest down; so when we first start everything seems to meet in the middle. As your butt lifts and shapes it can build up the upper behind and your pants or skirt may feel tighter. I know that this can be discouraging but it really is a positive thing.

You are at the stage now where you need to focus on lengthening counter to the pelvic floor more and more. As you are pulsing or holding a stretch keep lengthening further and further through the crown of head and out through heels.

When my students reach this stage I advise them to do the waist stretch every day; maintaining a stretch right out of the pelvic floor of the side you are stretching from. Keep your hip relaxed down, with heel firmly planted down to floor as you stretch out through the spine up through crown further and further. If you're stretched out enough, and relaxing the peripheral muscles enough, you'll feel the stretch creeping over and down your hips as well as through the lower abs on the stretched side. I also, then tell them to bend the torso forward and re-curl the pelvis and pulse on the diagonal forward to feel the stretch creep over hip and low back.

You'll see this demonstrated by Callan's mother on 10/10. I generally will get my students to do 100 pulses upright then bend forward of hips, re-curl the pelvis and pulse up to 30 times. This really does help reduce the hips hence minimising the bulky upper behind stage.

When doing the sitting hip and behind straight leg...throughly stretch the leg out and completely relax your waist and hip. However, you must keep the spine stretched right out.

I find doing this exercise as demonstrated in Evolution really gives a wonderful feeling of the stretch over the hips when you are in peak position.

BTW you can slim down the hips in a couple of hours. It shouldn't take long but do consciously stretch through counterpulls as you train or stretch.

Thanks!

Thanks,JiggleBuster and Sandra. I'm glad it's still winter, so clothes can disguise this weirdness.

It's funny how it changes. When I first started doing Callanetics, I pulled in pretty fast. Now I'm not pulling in, I"m moving up.

It's odd! I know that it gets better in a few weeks.

Sandra,. why is it that we tone from the calves up and the chest down? Is there any specific reason?

Why is my cellulite getting worse...Ugghhhh

On a good note...I am feeling stronger...stomach smaller...cant say that for my hips and thighs but last week I wore a pair of church pants that were really tight and couldn't wait until I went home to take them off!! Then I wore the same ones again this past Sunday and I had more room...I actually kept them on all day, took a nap in them and went back to church for afternoon service in them...lol Had to enjoy it

I'd like to know the answer to this, I was wondering the same thing.
I feel it a lot in my upper abdomen (below my ribs) but not in my lower.

I'm hoping that as my upper abdomen gets stronger it'll pull my lower into working too.

Also: I don't want to sound stupid, but which of the 10/10 exercises are working my obliques (aka Love-Handles)? Is it the sitting, side leg lifts?

Thanks for posting this, TC. It seems like sometimes my body does nothing for awhile and then I'll see a change. Today I could see that my butt is reshaping, getting curvier and less blocky looking...cellulite is allover but supposedly that gets better in time.

Hey guys!
Newbie here lol. I started Callanetics yesterday, I got 10 in 10 which I have only done once so far but I love it =D

I hope I don't sound like I'm being impatient but does anyone know how long it will take me to drop a dress size? I am around a UK size 10/12 roughly around 135lbs (I was last time I checked... a while ago!)
I'd love to be an 8/10 =)

I'm thinking of doing 10 in 10 6 nights a week with 30 minutes of walking every night. This is about as much as I can fit in as I work full time and study.

Hope you can help =)

Hey MissMetal! Welcome to the pack!

Callanetics is safe enough to do every day, but many of us do it every other day, or even 3 times per week and this is still having some amazing results. When I began, I was planning on doing it everyday, or like you, 6 times a week, but my body told me 'no', it needed time between sessions. So, all I can recommend here is listen to your body, it will tell you what you need. I got my dad doing it, and as far as I know he does it every day.... but then he's also retired. Keep posting, and let us know how you do!!!
