Helllllllllllllllllp Gym etiquette???

ok so this is my first time joining a gym in over 10 yrs. Im doing it all by my self like a big girl lmao.. (ok sorry for the dry sense of humor)

Anyway.... Can someone share some gym etiquette for me?
I joined Ballys.

What is one to do, not to do, bathrooms, locker rooms, etc..

or even if someone could share a link with me?

I am not very new to my area (Brooklyn been here almost 3 yrs) but have not really met anyone or anything.. so I think this would be a good way for me to meet people too...

Another thing.. do you tip the childcare ppl? and whats appropriate?

anything you can think of to share with me would be SOOOOOOO HELPFUL!

Thank You All so much in adance, espically if this is a question that has been asked alot..

I don't know about the womens locker room but a few things that make me crazy are as follows.

1. No naked situps, pushups, or yoga in the sauna. WTH
2. Keep grunting to a minimum.
3. Your sweaty underwear do not go in the swimsuit dryer.
4. Put a towel down before you sit your butt on a bench.
5. WIPE YOUR SWEAT FROM THE EQUIPEMENT AFTER USE!
6. Meeting people is great but if you want to chit chat move away from the equipment.

Those are my top pet peeves at the gym.

No, do not tip the Child Care people. That is their job.

I belong to Bally's and all I do is go to the locker room, change my clothes, lock my stuff up...do my cardio first such as elliptical. Wipe it down after (sometimes before) use with the cleaner and paper towels. Get familiar with the gym and it will help you locate the various equipment, free weights, etc., for your workouts you want to do that day.

I never take a shower at the gym by the way, I go right home to do it.

Like it was mentioned above:

1.You MUST take a towel towel to wipe off equipment, I hate it when people show up at the gym without a towel.

2. Please rack your weights after your are done. this is just being courteous to next person using the equipment.

Absolutely tip the child care people. I can't believe someone would suggest otherwise.

Well if it's a service thats worked into my plan.. like its an ammemity that is offered by my gym.. it could get expensive to tip them all the time no? what would you tip a child care worker at the gym?

I wouldn't tip them. I've never heard of tipping for childcare services.

Tipping is not required, but I would imagine it would be a pleasant surprise for a child care worker to receive an unexpected tip.

Thanks for even asking.

My biggest peeve at the gym is that people do not dry off when they get out of shower or the pool. They track water all over the floor for other people to have to avoid. They probably would not do it at home but they do at the gym. Then they sit their wet bottoms on the bench. YUCK!

Second pet peeve is that I don't want to see anybody's birthday suit. It never fails there is always one person who wants to walk around NAKED and no it is not just the super fit.

Third pet peeve is people who use the equipment and don't wipe it down after they have sweated all over it.

There more but those are my top there.
