I don't know if any of you have heard of this, but it started as a workout place in NYC and Kelly Ripa gave it media attention on her show. They now have DVDs you can purchase...I have been doing the half hour workout and the results are absolutely amazing...I have only done it like 5 times, and not even every day...but I am seeing a big difference in my body...I was trying something on in a dressing room the other day and I usually hate to look at myself while I am undressing but I was like woooahhh...some good changes I havent seen the likes of ever. It incorporates some of the Lotte Burke method...it is intense! Not so much aerobically but lots of ballet bar type stuff you do with a chair, a ball between your legs, mixed in with aerobics. Look it up online if it sounds interesting to you.

Not at all EZ. (I think it was just because you were relatively new to LCF - 12 posts at the time) and praising the program. That's just how some spam appears (and I'm probably jaded
), and it was hard to tell. But there were no links or anything (always a dead giveaway!), so I was pretty sure it was a legit post. I wish that I had been doing it as faithfully as you have. I've been exercising, but not doing the P57 every week. I think I need to judging from your success! Did you measure (have you lost inches)? I have the Lotte Burke videos (do not like those) and Callanetics as well. But the P57 program rocks! Glad someone else is liking it as much as I do. ![]() ![]()

I am not familiar with the fluidity workout. I have not measured myself which I should because the set did come with a tape measure. Even though I have not lost weight I notice my pants are looser, and my body is starting to look different...they talk about having a ballerina body or like a dancer, and while I am certainly no ballerina I am seeing changes in that direction, if that makes any sense. Thanks to a mostly low carb diet I am pretty small, 5'2.5 and under 110 lbs...so these good changes are showing up quickly. My neighbor and I chipped in and got the 3 tape set, I prefer the 30 minute express workout to the others. Thats really all I have time for but oh my what bang for the buck! Also exercising with my neighbor has been great cause we motivate each other. My special needs son is always excited to see my neighbors purple mat...he uses it as a blanket for his dolls and she winds up using a towel lol....but I am in love with this program...I am actually hopeful that at age 47 I can have my best body ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Pleiades. I've never done Fluidity... is it a barre type workout? Is your MIL in pretty good shape? (While these workouts are not aerobic, they are definitely INTENSE... my legs are like noodles afterward!) I'm in fairly good shape, and some of the moves, I just can't do all the reps - ex: holding your leg out perpendicular to your body while standing, and pulsing forward and back for what seems like forever).

Yes, it's a barre workout. She's not in great shape, but she has been exercising all summer. She started fluidity last year and did Biggest Loser stuff this summer. I was considering getting this for her for Christmas.
Thanks for your input! |

You know, here is the Kelly Ripa segment for a look at a few of the moves (this does not, however show the harder ones, or the barre portion): Last edited by pixiegirl01; 09-25-2009 at 06:16 AM.. |

Hi Em!
![]() Oh, Pleiades, I found some more demos on youtube (still none with that tough barre/leg move though). Do a search on youtube for Physique 57, and there are quite a few videos that come up! Last edited by pixiegirl01; 09-25-2009 at 06:33 AM.. |

EZ, can I ask... did you lose weight on LC and how long did it take? (or is LC just how you eat?) We're very close in height and age, but I am still struggling to get back down to even 125. Frustrating.

well, my story is, and probably more info than you were asking
when I met my husband 27 years ago, I weighed like 125 lbs, a little more than I weighed in high school. I always felt like I needed to lose a bit, I was very pear shaped. After my first child was born 25 years ago I dieted and exercised down to 105 and that was a weight that really looked good on me with my petite bone structure. I got a job as a letter carrier, in florida and did that for 18 years. In the years I did a walking route, probably about 13 miles a day carrying a heavy bag...I could eat anything I wanted when I got home and never got over 105...a box of yodels...no problem...that was bliss!!!!! I retired after my son was born when I turned 42...I got up to 170 with that pregancy! Over the next 2 years of eating sensible (not low carb)combined with breastfeeding I got back down under 110. But...I can really see that I cannot eat like I used to...plus the women in my family have a tendency to pack it on when they get into their 40s or 50s. I do pretty strict low carb on weekdays and loosen up a bit on weekends, and for now that seems to be helping me stay where I am...I usually gain a little on weekends but take it right back off during the week. I weigh myself everyday...I am just one of those people that really needs to do that |

I have them and love them, too. These are to new for me to see any changes yet. I'm hoping to see some soon.
If anybody is thinking about getting Fluidity, get them used for $50-75 on Craigslist. There are usually a bunch listed. |

Anyway, I believe I just need to get my off-plan cravings (chips!) and portions under control, and along with exercise, I will get there. In my 20s and early 30s, I could eat whatever and never gain an ounce. Definitely has changed (unfortunately). Thanks for all the information! |

oOo now you guys have me tempted to get the dvds! I actually tried the class in NY and the warmup alone was no joke! By the time my friends and I got to the subway walking down the stairs was a process, you definitely feel it. Good thing they have dvds as the class packages are very very expensive

I have the DVDs- now I need to DO them! I love Callanetics and I'm hoping I love Physique 57 too.
I also have Fluidity, but I don't use those DVDs- just the bar. |

Okay, I have the P57 Classic coming in the mail. I have done some Bar Method twice and now just started The Fluidity workouts. I can not do the Flat Back, it is tough for me. Will this ever come? I also figured after 10 years of doing just T-tapp I would be alot stronger and my posture would be great; but I am not. So, I decided to focus on Barre workouts and Classical Stretch (my new love).

Just finished the Physique 57 DVD. I couldn't do all the reps, but that's to be expected since I haven't exercised in a month or so. I think I like it. I don't feel as stretched out as I do with Callanetics, but I like the variations of Physique 57, and I like the instructor. She's peppy lol.
I'll probably end up doing both - alternating Callanetics, Callanetics Evolution, and Physique 57. I also love weights, so I'll throw some Jari Love in there, too. Why not. |

just wanted to update and say..I am still loving these. My upper body and arms have always been much smaller than my bottom half...very pear shaped....now things are looking so much more proportionate...top building up and bottom tucked in and slimming down...I have major skinny cellulite going on on my legs and that seems to be getting replaced with a more toned look. My arms look unreal...so muscular and defined and Ive just been using the 1 lb weights. I used to wear padded bras to try to balance out my pear look and now I had to go get a regular bra yesterday...cause my natural self just looks better if you get what I mean.If I can figure out how Ill try to post some pics...dont really have befores but trust me things look much better.

I would say after a couple weeks of doing it a few times a week I could see a difference...especially in my arms...I flexed for my husband the other day and he could not believe it...he seemed a little dumbfounded and said" wow...that looks really GOOD!!!" Exactly what I want to hear at age 47

I was able to connect with someone on Craigslist for a Fluidity bar and DVD's/accessories for $50. Will be picking it up this wknd. I will report back. Once I have done those DVD's I will decide from there about the 57 workouts.

I have the Bar method dvd's and I like them, but I find the slow pace a little unnerving. Physique 57 seems similar but faster paced...is this true? Also, how does it compare to fluidity?
