Right, just posting hour 2 of renewed 10/10 sessions. Feel fab.
I too have ordered CardioC after Sandra's leg/butt comments - can't wait! (Although will it feel like cheating on Callan????!!)

I agree that there is always room for improvement. I don't want to lose weight or drop sizes (I use the smallest european size, that's 34)
You can be both skinny and flabby :S ... I would like to have a more defined silhouette and look stronger

Hi, last summer I started looking for an exercise program that's cheap and does not require leaving the house as heat makes me sick and I get cold easily. I read about Callanetics on this message board and was inspired to try. After 3 hours of 10/10 I lost 1.5inches in the hips, my main problem area. An erratic schedule and not wanting to do some of the movements around people stopped me from continuing, but after reading this board again, I am re-inspired. So for the rest of the month I'm planning on doing an hour on Tuesday and Thursday for the rest of the month (3 hours total). I'm not really over weight, just out of shape compared to when I was dancing ballet and tap about 5 hours a week in high school. I had brain surgery my senior year of high school (6 years ago) which left my neck weak and unable to do sit ups, but I found that if I keep a firm pillow under my head I can do the stomach/abs squeezes and by the 3rd hour my neck seemed stronger and the muscles more relaxed.

Hour 7 of 10/10 has been completed!

Today while I was doing the stomach exercises I felt much stronger and for the first time since I have re-started Callanetics I was able to round my head and shoulders in toward my ribcage without having to support my head at some point during the exercises.

I really enjoyed my class reunion. We all had a great time, and for a bunch of 43/44 year-olds we look pretty good. I was reminded again this weekend how important living a healthy lifestyle is to slow down the aging process. (Plus staying out of the tanning bed and not smoking!)

4/10 hours down!

I have a question for Sandra, or rather anyone who can give some advice:

I asked this earlier but didn't get a response but I was wondering if if it's possible to still see results if I don't feel sore after doing 10 in 10 or Callanetics Evolution? I feel the muscles working during but after that nothing. I wake up the next day and it's as if I didn't even do anything.

Is this normal?

TIA!

Do you feel pulled in, stretched, taller after your workout?

How many sessions have you done?

We don't always experience muscle soreness after a workout but you certainly would expect to feel some changes initially such as improved posture, more muscle awareness, if not muscle soreness, and increased flexibility. If you keep your workouts fairly close together you should see changes.

However, if your muscles are very weak when you first start it is possible to not feel very much. As your muscles become stronger you will feel everything working a lot deeper and certainly with more intensity.

A beginner can quite easily do 100 reps of the abs or hip and behind when they first start without taking a breather, but after a few classes they start to find that they need to take breathers.

Ensure that you are thoroughly stretched out of your pelvis with PF activated while you create the pulse. This keeps your muscles tightly stretched and taut which is important. So check that your are utilising the concepts during your workout.

Let me know how things go.

As far as sessions, I know collectively I've done over 15 hours of 10 in 10 but I got discouraged because I felt like I wasn't seeing results which made me think I wasn't doing it properly so I kind of stopped doing it. I find that I'm not straining to reach positions in Callanetics Evolution so hopefully I will see results.

Thanks for the great advice I will definitely try and concentrate on engaging the PF more. I tend to relax it without knowing so I'll try and focus more on that and feeling stretched out.

Good day Callanetics devotees!

I've been away from the forum for two weeks, more or less...Thanks to my pregnancy sickness I haven't worked out at all, just managed to do 2 half an hour sessions in the last couple of days...I really feel tired and what's worst is this constant sense of sickness that really wears me out...

I think this month I will not meet my goal, but it doesn't matter as this is really a special time for me... I try to listen very carefully to my body and do just what I feel like, without putting any strain on it.
Hopefully next month I should feel better, and then be able to resume my workouts: I do miss a lot the sense of wellness and relaxation that always follows after Callanetics!

Meanwhile, I still read with great interest all your posts about your progress and questions and try to bear in mind all of Sandra's tips

So keep up the good work and pulse diligently!
Nice day to all of you,

Alright - I'm new to this thread - what's it about? I hear all the success...don't have the time to read all 11 pages though - wow!

Give me the short of it. What do I do and how do I do it? How many times a week? I'm ready!

Are you using a DVD?

Question: Do any of you give yourself a "reward" for completing the number of hours each month? Like if I meet my 10 hour goal, I get to ................... The next question is what kind of thing do you use as a reward?
I love Callanetics, but I still have the WORST time getting myself motivated to WANT to do them. It's like today, I'm dreading, because I know tonight is my night I need to them. I wish they didn't take so long. But it's not like I have a busy schedule or anything. I just would rather be laying around or sleeping or reading a book. So any motivational suggestions are welcome.
Thanks.

I'm not used to doing cardio, so it'll be good for me when I can get around to it. And lots of arm work in there, I'm not used to that either! Not to mention how I have 2 left feet when it comes to any kind of 'choreography'! It'll take me awhile to get a couple of those waltz steps...!

Something that helps keep me motivated is to do Callanetics while I'm listening to some good, relaxing music. And I commit to getting through the ab section, even if I don't think I feel like doing the rest of the workout. Usually, once I get past the ab work, I don't want to stop until I'm finished with the complete routine. Those ab exercises are quite daunting to me and there is a bit of a dread factor before I do them. However, I've been seeing and feeling some results, so I don't want to quit - that's pretty motivating, to me as well.

Also, like someone else mentioned here before, sometimes I'll have the television on while I'm exercising. If I'm going to be watching a show anyway, might as well get some exercise in while I'm doing it.

Once you have committed the exercises to memory, you don't have to be tied to the video to do them. I'll use the video every so often to make sure of my form and to hear Callan's pointers, but other times I do the exercises without it.

Did hour 8 last night. I'm concerned about whether my form is right while doing them. I SO wish there was someone nearby who could check it for me. I did them more quickly, so the whole beginner session, now that I can fast forward part of the explaination is really only 45 min., so maybe that's how 10/10 can have more exercises and still be an hour long. I spent the other 15 minutes watching some of it. I plan to start on it in October.
Another Question: My problem area, besides the spare tire in general, is that my butt seems to extend up above my waist. Is there anything specific to get rid of that? While I can see the front side of my waist/tummy area looking a little smaller, that backfat doesn't seem to be changing at all.
Again thanks a million to any who help me out with all these questions! You are all a great group! I love this thread!

Completed 12 yesterday and 13 of 16 this a.m. Have now done Super C once and Cardio C 3 times during the past 5 days. I'm sure it's my imagination but I think my thighs already look tighter and I'm really feeling it at the base of my behind, the two areas I need the most work.

Another benefit of Callanetics-it really helps me with the mood swings associated with menopause. Now I'm trying to get my daughter to do it with me-maybe it will help with her teen age moodiness.

and welcome!

I don't have a special recipe to make you stay motivated, but this is what I say to my husband when he hits a crisis period (he lost 8 kilos, has to lose 10 more): you're doing that for yourself, your health and because maybe you want to achieve that body you've always dreamed of....
So no excuses: when it's workout time, you have to workout. No negotiation admitted
Commitment and discipline are the two things that work for me, and I know that nothing comes for free, so when I start something, I really try to stick with it, even if I know that on certain days I would do anything but workout.
I don't want to sound harsh, that is not my intention! In the past I've been very lazy and the only think that made me moving from the couch was that I really wanted a healthy body...

I know that is difficult to get started... try to put on your workout outfit as soon as you get up, if you train in the morning, or as soon as you get at home: wearing your socks/leotard/whatever would be half of the way .

And then...follow the Challenge! This board is amazing for constant motivation and support

And as soon as you get results... you'll no longer need any kind of motivation to start: your body will change, your flexibility increase, you'e feel the afterglow of a gentle and still powerful workout... You'll feel rejuvenated every single time!

And then you can set mini-goals: when I reach a goal I surely reward myself with something I really like: a new skirt, a pair of trousers, a sleevless top... you must celebrate your efforts!

it takes a little though. In your long process you'll see changes: some part reducing before others, periods in which your muscles are pulling up before than pulling in and so your clothes will be tighter... don't worry, be patient and stick with it.

sorry for the long post...hope to have been of any help

Great day for me today, my sickness gave me a bit od relief...so half an hour Callan today!

Hour 8 is DONE.

My goal was to complete 14 hours of Callanetics for this month, and even though I missed a few days earlier in the month, I think I can still make my goal.

Ellie- that was a great post!

Catsrus I think that you'll find that once you learn the exercises, the 10/10 workout won't take quite as long as an hour. Somedays, when I'm on a roll, I can do them in 45 minutes. Other days - like today - it took me a bit longer because I had to take more breathers during the exercises and between each segment.

Have a great day, everyone.
