What is better Callanetics or T Tapp?
I am thinking about trying one or the other on top of my strength and cardio training that I do each day. Which is the best one to start? (I have bought callanetics and am currently bidding on TTapp) I am wondering if I should keep bidding on T Tapp or just stick to the callanetics I am going to be getting in the mail. I was thinking about cycling between both. Has anyone tried doing this? Or has anyone tried either with some good results?

I have the Callanetics 10/10 and really like it, but I have never done Ttapp (although am interested in it), so I'd love to hear what others have to say, too.

I think I am going to go ahead and buy both and try them both out since I don't seem to get very many people here that have an opinion. I guess I will let people know what I think after trying a month of each by themselves as I am sure others might have the same question. Truthfully from the demo videos, they look a lot a like. I like the fact that callanetics seems less gimmicky and on their website they don't have tons and tons of advertisements or product promotions and are just plain and simple fact. Plus they are easy to find on both Amazon and ebay. But I don't like how out dated most of the videos are. And on T-Tapp I do like that all of her videos are more updated and that she has some testimonials. But I don't always trust testimonials (Kimkins anyone!), and I also feel her stuff is WAY over priced. You have to buy her book to get a 30% off discount for the rest of her stuff. Why not price everything at the 30% discount? It is a hassel because I have to buy the book (with $8 shipping, which as a book seller on ebay, is outrageous!) and then once I have the book, I can use the coupon to get a discount. And have to call first to use it! It is very incovenant. But I do like the fact that her exercises have been featured in many magazines (Woman's health at least 11 times) which seems to me more liget. But still, the whole 30% discount and high S&H price, do not impress me at all! And I can't find her stuff (only the book) on Amazon and on ebay it they are there, but a very few and so the bidding price goes back up to the website price or higher. So not worth it. But again I will try them both out. Callanetics for a month, and then T-Tapp for a month and post my results and thoughts when I am done.

I have been using Callanetics for a while and started t-tapp recently. They are actually most similar in the way that they are different from most workouts...small intense movements, no impact, etc. But the actual moves are quite different. Both will help with improving strength and flexibility. There are huge fans of both that have seen big results in terms of losing inches.
One big difference is the pace--after Callanetics, which always allows plenty of time to deepen into each move, t-tapp seems really fast. You just do 8 reps and then on to the next exercise. T-tapp has a quick basic workout--just 15 minutes, which is really nice to be able to do on a day when you don't have time for an hour workout. When I called t-tapp to order the book and dvds at one time, they let me apply the book coupon automatically to the videos I was ordering that day.

Thanks so much for the input! I have been really curious. I ordered my callanetics from amazon and ebay last week, and ordered the book and basic workout from T-Tapp today. So I am going to do a little experiment and do both, one each month and see what my results are. I am even going to be brave and post pictures and everything. I think it will be fun. Anyone want to do it with me? A month of callanetics and a month of T-Tapp followed with pictures and reviews? |

Hey, kissesfromaudra, how did your experiment go? I did a month of TTapp in Sept and am now in a month of Callanetics. I think it was a mistake at the end of the Ttapp month to measure just as my period started - could feel that my clothes were getting too big, but on that day no real inch loss! My clothes aren't feeling bigger so much with Callanetics yet, possibly because less cardio?

I am an ex-TTapper. I started back when Theresa Tapp had only 2 trainers. I went to several of her workshops. I don't think these two types of workouts are really alike, but some concepts cross paths slightly here and there.
I did lose two sizes with about a 3 lb total weightloss. I went from a 6 to a 4 with no scale loss and 3lbs from a 4 to a 2. I tried Callanetics back then when I was doing TTapp, but I found Callanetics too slow at the time. I eventually got bored to tears with TTapp and left it. I moved onto high intensisty and weight training which I still love. And now, I'm back and started Callanetics several weeks ago of all things! And I really like it. I guess there's a time and place for all things in our lives. I want to TTapp again, but there's just something that keeps stopping me (Dread factor). When you "get" this workout it really becomes harder and harder, not the other way around. I think Callanetics does, too. |

Very, very true As you relax more and more in to position and even get to the stage where you're relaxing the muscles you're training it's unbelievably intense. Advanced students often take more breathers than beginners. |

I took this challenge in September and October. In September, I only did T Tapp DVDs, including an 11 day bootcamp. In October, I only did Callanetics tapes and DVDs, 4-5x week (except one TTapp step away the inches early in the month before I got the Cardio Callanetics DVD - I was missing my cardio). I didn't have weight to lose but I wanted to lose inches and get my lower body more proportionate to the upper body - especially to tighten up thighs/saddlebags.
I GAINED weight and inches BOTH months. I didn't take photos, though I think the TTapp made me look leaner and firmer - and my clothes were looser. I think the cellulite effect on my upper thighs may be less now (still doing the TTapp body brushing). I am not sure if there is any real change in my "bottom line" as they call it in Callanetics. TTapp immediately and miraculously changed my upper body and shoulder posture for the better, relieving chronic pain and discomfort. Callanetics improved my lower back posture and helped me understand more about the pelvic floor muscles in motion. With both I experienced pain at times while trying to "get" the complicated and precise positions and movements. You really need a mirror or mirrors, especially with TTapp. This was a great experiment, helped me to see that wishful thinking is no substitute for results. Now I'm back to some running and I will continue the Callanetics and TTapp too as part of the mix. I'm still looking for an upper thigh/saddlebag firming and trimming solution that really works. If I really increase the cardio (on the "there is no such thing as spot reducing" approach), besides the fatigue, it just makes my upper body more disproportionate to my lower body, both in terms of layer of body fat and thinness. Please help me shrink these upper thighs!!! |

I love Callanetics. Haven't tried TTapp, but my interest is peaked.
Crispygolden, I will tell you that I noticed for about 2-3 months I seemed to get bigger as you mentioned. But what actually was happening and I believe if you look at the photos in the book or on the tape you can see this - everything begins to move towards your stomach and then things begin to lean out. Did you only do the Cardio Callanetics? If so, I would definitely add the 10/10 into your exercise rotation - It is also as Sandra and Artsfartsy mentioned - this workout grows with you. In the beginning it is hard then you seem to get into a groove and then all of a sudden you can't do all the reps, but notice you are deeper into the stretch - Amazing!
