Congrats, Oz! It is so nice to hear that the Wii Fit is minding its manners a bit! I was so peeved at that little nasally voice making that snide comment that I made going from obese to overweight one of my official "mini-goals."
Ally's mom: Was grrrrring at the EA Fitness glitch, not at your Woohooooo. I'd edit the post but apparently you can only do that immediately after posting. |

firefly, how tall are you? I'm 5'6" you must be taller to have gotten out of obese already? Unless the regional settings are different which seems weird.
Gotta stop procrastinating and go work out, it's already 4:30pm!! |

I'm nearly 5'10". I crossed the threshold to "overweight" at 204.9 -- although in all honesty it probably should have been a lower weight because I have a small to medium frame without much muscle, and the Fit doesn't take frame size into account.

Morning, -er, Afternoon! Kids!!
Heh. Late start today. Today was my "off" day so I did 30 min. of yoga. I don't know if I got so sweaty because it was already 90* outside, or if I was just working my yoga. Either way, *whew*. Glad to see everyone checking in and making progress. Wii are hot! |

Firefly, that is so interesting that 4" means a 20lb difference! I did my u/body weights workout yesterday afternoon and I think my schedule ATM caught up with me last night/this morning. I was sneezing with runny nose and decided to catch some extra sleep instead of working out this morning. Not that I got the best sleep last night anyway, just seemed to be waking up every few hours, then DD came in @ 5:30ish so was only snoozing after that.
Planning on doing my HIIT workout this afternoon instead and having an early night so I can get back to normal routine tomorrow morning. Still haven't gotten a Yoga or Pilates workout into my schedule yet, I should work towards one tomorrow night. If I have any energy left tonight I might do 1/2hr bellydance practise as class starts back this week. Hope you girls all had a great weekend.

Happy Monday Kids!
Did an hour of MFC...flexibility. I've noticed that since I've started doing the yoga on my "off" days, it messes up the recommendations Maya gives me. I'll have to think on that. Especially since I'd like to get 2 upper body workouts in per week. Don't wanna have 'dinner lady' arms! Keep up the good work, ladies. You all are just moving and grooving! |

Cool Oz on the weight loss!
Lynn - hang in there sweetie. I know it's tough when you're not seeing the results from your hard work but you have the right attitude and I'm really, really proud of your dedication. Firefly - yeah, I just know I'm going to be one of the bad 1/2. LOL I should finish it up tomorrow so I'll let you know what happens. Oz and Firefly - I'm 5'8" and I crossed the overweight threshold at 198. That doesn't make much sense that the 2" between Firefly and me was only about 5-6 pounds but the 2" between Oz and me is almost 12? Weird! I have no idea what's going on with that. |

Hi Ladies!
Did 30 min of yoga today. I think I've tweaked my new and improved schedule. It will be as follows: Sun - 30 min yoga, Mon - 60 min upper body, Tues - 30 min yoga, Wed - 60 min lower body, Thurs - 60 min flexibility, Fri - 60 min upper body, Sat - 60 min core. That will give me two days of upper body workouts and I can increase my lifting faster, three days of yoga (flexibility has lots of yoga moves but no "flows") and the rest will be working the cardio and lower. I hope that will do it. I'm off. Have a great day!

Just poking my head in to say keep up the great work ladies. I've got a cold ATM and haven't done any exercise since Monday afternoon. I can't remember if I added that workout to my sig either! Supposed to go back to bellydance class tonight if I feel up to it, but right now I'm not even sure I'm going to work today. Should be right with a Codral but would like to recover rather than 'soldier on'. Better decide soon or I will be running very late.

Speaking of exercise programs, my friend was introducing me to her new horse last weekend and pointed out Jillian Michael's horse a couple of stalls down. It was of course gorgeous, sleek and well-muscled.
I'm down two today! Woohoo! The EA Active is coming along slowly. I need to carve out a time to do it that ISN'T after my daughter goes to bed, because the fatigue factor has been a deal-breaker of late. I wish I was a morning person. Anyone here convert from nightowl to being a morning person? How? |

This week is just flying by! I got my hour in today...lower body. Hadn't done that in awhile...my legs are a bit like jello at the moment.
firefly Everytime I see that DONE!! in your siggy I get a happy feeling! Very inspiring. Ozdancer Hope you are feeling better soon! Allysmom Thanks for the vote of confidence. I keep telling myself that even if the scale isn't moving...I KNOW I'm doing something good for myself. I'm stronger and that must be good for my heart...ya know? Therisa I am far from an expert and I hope the other ladies 'weigh' in as well (ha! I made a joke) My opinion is that if you are new to exercise or haven't done any moving and grooving for awhile; Wii Fit it a good option. I will warn you that it's very brutal in the assessment of your statistics...darn thing still calls me "obese". That can be a real downer to hear everyday. The exercises are fun though.I personally like My Fitness Coach (MFC). I'm an old hand at exercising and know most of the steps, moves and correct positions. If you aren't someone who has taken some type of classes or used tapes before this may be a bit hard until you get used to the moves. You don't use the balance board and unless you have someone to help you and tell you that you are in the correct position, it's a bit difficult. I know a few ladies like the EA Active game. We haven't tried it, so I got nothing. I'm sure whatever you choose will be great! Gotta run, Kids. Have a great day and Carry On! |

Yay! I got a good EA Active and it gave me my trophy for the 30 day challenge! Whew. I'm glad that's over. I was stressing over finishing it. Go me! Except - I haven't lost any weight recently. I'm still at 195 but I've been there for a couple of weeks. Oh well, I'll tread onward and soldier on like Oz and Lynn. LOL
I really like the Wii EA Active. It has a lot of strength/resistance type of training in addition to cardio. I, too, like My Fitness Coach and keep it in the rotation. I've heard not so good things about the Jillian Michael's exercise Wii games but since I haven't tried them personally - I can't comment whether I agree with those reviews or not. Are you mostly looking for exercises or games that get your heart pumping? For games, I've heard that Active Life Outdoor Challenge is great. It's got nearly perfect reviews on Amazon. Oh and firefly - if you figure out how to become that morning person, please let me know. I absolutely cannot get up early and must workout after my little one is in bed. |

Hey guys -- I think I've seen the results of exercise, in that I FINALLY dropped a size, to a proper 16. I've been an 18-20 since the 220's.
Well thank goodness. I have 9 more workouts to go yet before I find that out -- and we started our thirty days at the same time! Shame on me. Therisa -- I have both the Wii Fit and the EA Active; I use the Active for a "real" workout, because it makes me sweat profusely and I get some next-day aches that show I really worked out; if I'm feeling out of sorts I think of the Wii Fit as play, so I do that instead -- and often end up doing a lot of hula hooping or strength exercises once I get started. I like them both. I'm addicted to the penguin ice floe game in the Wii Fit. ![]()

Hi girls, you all sound like you are doing well this week. I'm still coldy and haven't worked out since Monday but am still at work with the help of cold meds. Didn't make bellydance class last night either figured I was better off not going out in the winter cold
. I feel like I'm making excuses, but I didn't drag my butt out of bed till 7am this morning & I start work @ 8am .So this week might be a write off for exercise and I've been overeating too so don't expect the scale to have moved much if any. Not feeling any slimmer, fitter or stronger & I miss that feeling. But, I want to get well, and if I push the exercise might make myself more ill. Therisa. When I first added exercise this time around I started with my WiiFit. I have since progressed away from the Wii alltogether except for the occassionaly 'play' with tennis or something. I have a elliptical trainer and weights at home and alternate (when I'm not sick) with High Intensity Interval Training and weights training. I also usually have bellydance class Wednesday nights and try to do some practise during the week. I also have a Yoga and a Pilates DVD that I do occassionally, I want be adding in more with these ATM to add core strength to round out my workouts. I am very happy with my results, just need to do more of the dancing/yoga/pilates as I want a dancers body & flexibility at the end not an overly muscly body. |

Bad night, kids. Didn't get to sleep until after 3am. I hate when the husband is on graveyards...I just lay there, thinking and listening. Tonight I think one of those "PM" things will be my friend.
I'm not a morning person either...I can't remember who asked. I like to stay up late when it's quiet and then sleep when it's nice and cool. Too bad the rest of the world doesn't work that way! It's a real struggle for me to get up and do my exercises when I'm working. But I can dooo eet! Did my hour...flexibility focus. "Maya" added some new poses...just when I was getting steady with the tree pose she gives me Warrior III. My balance sux. But then, it took awhile to get comfortable with tree...I can dooo eeet! Alrightee kids, I'm outta here. Ya'll carry on! |

therisa, it's difficult in a busy life to find that time. Unfortunately you just need to prioritise you for 30min - 1hr a day. I work full time during the week, occassional weekend/night work and do most of the home/kid stuff. The only way I could regularly add exercise was to get up 1hr earlier in the morning and do it then. I don't like to get up at 5am, especially as it is winter here, but you get used to it.
As I've been a bit sick with a cold and I now know PMSing too this week I haven't done any exercise since Monday. I certainly feel the difference in my energy, determination and overall wellbeing levels. I think this afternoon will see a workout after I clear some more #&*$ bamboo out of the garden while there is still light. Lyn, sorry you're not sleeping very well I know how you feel this week. Good luck with the new yoga posses, if I remember correctly you have to develop the small muscles in your feet and ankles to improve the balance (which only happens through repetition of these types of moves). So perservere, you WILL dooo eeet! oh, just noticed I'd better get back to my exercise you're catching up in hrs this month . |

I take a sleeping pill every night because of sleep apnea, getting up early is just not possible, I've taken this pill as early as 4PM and still have problems waking up at 6AM, I have to get out of the house at 6:30, there have been many close mornings (I take the bus to work/school).
If I don't take the pill I don't sleep, it is just that simple. My 'me' time has to come during the day. Our job has a wellness program, I think I will look into that. How long must one exercise for it to be worth your time? |

Hi everyone,
Well ... I am faithfully doing 30 minutes a day on the Wii Fit or Personal Trainer ... and while I've only lost another pound and a bit ... I have lost 5 cm's on my waist! I just wish that the work would translate into showing more of a weight loss. The Wii balance board is still telling me that I'm obese ... but I'm hoping that changes in the next couple of weeks! Hi therisamarie, I find that the 30 minutes a day is a good benchmark. I often include additional bits at 10 minutes a stretch ... whenever I have a few minutes. I have free weights that I use for these additional mini-workouts. Hope that helps |

hpjrt, you must be building some good muscle tone to have those measurement changes & little scale change. Which means you are burning more calories a day just doing nothing so if you don't eat any more food you will lose weight quicker. Inches count WAY more than the scale - KUTGW.
Therisa, if you are pressed for time and want good weight loss results I highly recommend high intensity interval training. You can be over and done with in 20 minutes and have a really good fat burning workout which also improves your stamina and fitness faster than straight cardio. I'm in a hurry this morning but if you google search there are lots of great sites, if you want more info I'm happy to help but won't be back on-line until Monday (my time, about Sunday night your time). I think this site was the easiest to understand for me and had the best plan of action - HIIT: Supercharge your Fitness and Fat Loss. Gotta get going or the day will beat me. Still no exercise since Monday this cold is hanging around, but I should be back on track for next week. On the up side even with no exercise, TOM & some extra calories this week I've lost 1.5lbs. Gotta love Atkins . |

Thought I better check in while I'm making dinner...coconut shrimp curry. Mmmmm. Tis tasty.
Did my hour...upper body. I went and bought some 8lb weights today. Hopefully I'll be showing some results before school starts up. *gulp* Only a month left! I better get my projects finished! hpjrt You are getting results! I hate it, too, when the scale doesn't move. Especially since we are a scale conscious society. It'll happen! For both of us. Carry on! |

Oz - I just saw your pic in the before and after thread. You're a beauty from down under and a shrinking one at that! You look great!
I did a preset workout on EA Active tonight. It was fun but have I mentioned that I hate lunges?? LOL I have a family reunion tomorrow so a workout is iffy. I will definitely stay on plan eating wise and not indulge in carb laden goodies. |

Did my hour...core focus. I have a physical challenge in two workouts...that'd be Monday? We'll see if I've make any progress. Either way, I'm keeping on. Allysmom How exciting for you! Did you go buy tons of new clothes? Hope you wow them all! Alright Oz? Feel better. How's it going Firefly? Everyone moving and grooving? Carry on! |

Ha! I see most of them once a year. I definitely got bunches of comments. "You've lost a lot of weight". I always say, "thanks but I have a way to go yet". I need to just stop at Thanks, because then that opens it up to how I don't want to get too thin, blah, blah blah. I'm still a size 14/16 for goodness sakes - I have some play room here before I get skinny.
Still made me feel good though. LOL |

Hi ladies, finally back with access to a computer. Spent the weekend at Mum & Dads which was busy and they only have dial-up internet. Took 45min to check my bank account!!
![]() Back to normal exercise this morning. Did my HIIT workout and feeling better for it. Still have a touch of a cold, but s'ok. Actually this morning was warm enough that I didn't need a jacket to come to work which is nice, winter is on its way out! Saw some of Mums friends Saturday who haven't seen me for a while and got lots of 'hello skinny' type comments which was nice. Picked up some tops off layaway & bought a new pair of pants - all size 14. I'm really amazed that I am fitting into 14s already must be the exercise. Reaching a size 10 doesn't seem so impossible as I've still got 37lbs to goal, which is at the big end of healthy weight for my height. Oh, Lynn I need to get my skates on I think once you get in here today you will have surpassed my time for the month so far! Darn having a week off , better make it up. Lucky I'm adding dance training + Yoga/Pilates at night this week! ![]() Allysmom, I know what you mean with adding "but ...." when you get a compliment. I still do it too, and kick myself (just a little) as I'm saying it. Gotta work on turning that self talk to positive. thanks on the pic, actually the suit I'm wearing in the 'current' photo is a 16. I can now do it up and the pants are sitting more on my hips. Got hubby to take a photo last week, but lazy hasn't emailed it to me at work yet to put up (might have to get it off the camera myself some time this week).Better get back to work. Have a great day everyone. |
