Got up and did Cardio C this a.m. for 8/8.
I met my goal this month of
12 Evo-10/10
8 Cardio C

Coming here kept me motivated to meet my goal. I was feeling pretty lazy this month and I wouldn't have done it without this place for inspiration.

Remember to never curl the pelvis while doing either of these two exercises. It doesn't sound like you are but thought I'd just add this reminder
Thanks a million Sandra for your advice! I've tried this and... oh my! Today I'm nicely sore at the base of the behind!!!!!
Have you got any suggestion to increase leg work while doing 10/10?
I mean, I have both 10/10 and Evolution and when I do 10/10 I feel like I need more of a challenge.

This is what I've been doing in the last few months, to increase my 10/10 leg work:

1) upping the number of plies to at least 30
2)while doing a plie, when I lower down I release my pf and then re-engage it, so that I'm sure that when I lift it is contracted and I'm not doing the work just with my thighs
3) when doing exercise #1, I lower 2 inches, curl the pelvis up and then hold and pulse from the pf for 3-5 times.

Am I doing right?
I've experienced noticeable changes in my quads' shape but I have still a lot of work to do.

Btw, goal achieved : 12 lower body sessions completed and 5/4 full workouts done in july!

I used that as a cop out although I did complete yet another round of 10/10.
This morning I got up and took another shot at it and am happy to say that I did Super C. Many of the new excercises I only completed 50 rather than 100 trying to get the right form down. The abs are intense!
Doing Super C has been in the back of my mind poking me since the day I thought NO WAY am I doing that. I am very proud that I accomplised it.

Goal met

Ok. The last hour (5th) of 10/10 done! I met my goal for this month

Still having trouble with hips and thighs I'll do those floor exercises keeping my hands on the floor and just trying to sit straighter. I found it easier to concentrate on form that way.

Looking forward to next month's challenge, then!

It sure does! And I successfully did it today so that is twice. I thought I'd never get there!

The exercise is a bit easier and doable if I don't use a barre but instead keep hands on the floor on side. Can I do it this way effectively?

My concern in this is, that I seem to be able to lift my leg too high. Even when keeping the hips even, pointing the knee to the floor, and tipping pelvis. I feel my lower thigs and calves working. Occasionally something in the buttocks as well, but I never seem to be able to keep the sensation very long. I keep doing them but also wonder are they doing anything for me.

I have looked at the photos and the video clips from youtube (don't have any of the tapes).

Thanks in advance!
Hi and !
Here's a link in which you can find a very detailed description on how to do the hips/behind exercises of 10/10 resting with one hand on the floor.
CALLANETICS CHALLENGE JUNE 2008
You'll see also our Sandra demonstrating the correct position.
You can use the same instructions for the one with the leg straight.
As far as I know, you shouldn't be lifting your leg that much: the contraction of your pelvic floor will cause your leg to lift just -2 inches from the floor, and from there you start to pulse.
One of our teacher will explain you better what I'm trying to say
If you need more info about the pelvic floor, click on this link and happy reading and contracting

Thank you

Hi,

Oh don't worry, I think I understood what you're saying there. I'm pretty sure I'm doing something wrong when I'm able to lift that leg so high. Maybe there is just too many things to concentrate on at the moment. After all, I'm still in the beginning of my journey...

Thank you so much for those! Apparently there are so many question about hips and thighs (no wonder), that I haven't found my way to those posts yet.

I'll study this today! I think that a 100 reps might be too much, if I get it right

Slimmer hips, here I come!

To Eilene

You look very young. I am am assuming that your raw food diet has a lot to do with it. Do you eat dairy and fish? I have been considering a raw food diet for a long time; however, I feel like I need some guidance. What is a sample of a day's menu for you?
