Y*M*C*A!!! It's fun to go to the Y*M*C*A!!!

I signed up for swim lessons; which seems ludacris as I have been swimming all my life. But I hope to learn proper technique in the classes.

Then I did the body sculpting class which was hand weights, resistance bands, and abs. It was actually less and easier than what I do at home with Kathy Smith.

Then I swam 8 some laps in the pool; incorrectly of course. I'm am compulsive frog kicker.

Then I tried the sauna and the steam room; then I showered.

Swim class is at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so I'll have time to do the body sculpting class or just use the machines before the swim.

Tomorrow is bright and early rise and shine running!!!

Let's see new month new goals....

Work harder on abs
Add swimming
Increase running distance to 4 miles
More bike rides

I see you joined the Y, very excited for you. Make sure when you take your swimming class that you explain your goals. There are different beats for your legs and most that are swimming for a tri will use a 2 beat kick to keep their legs in good condition for the bike and run. I know most that are swimming only will do a 4 beat or even a 6 beat. This would be way to much for distance swimming and you would be exhausted by the time you got out of the water and mounted the bike much less jumping off and finishing up with the run.

BeThin - Great goal to exercise everyday but don't foget to let you body rest one day a week.

Vicki - I'm a bit ont he shorter side and when I used to use the treadmill at the gym I complained I couldn't go any faster because of my height. But the fitness director told me to take more strides to keep up! So I agree with more strides rather than longer strides for your friend.

I hate the treadmill too, but does yours have an incline mode? Could try that to challenge your heart and lungs.

Barb - You better not be slowing down on us! Keep moving, but be careful of that knee!!!

Lora - I got the Shred DVD back out too! That's what I did this morning. YOu keep changing your avatar and I can't keep track of you!

Mel - Salute to the Canadian flag!!! <humming Canadian national anthem>

Val - Thanks! I just recently learned to enjoy exercise and you will too if you keep at it! And 6 miles certainly is good long distance for a walk!

Brian - Yeaaa!!!!! We finally have a guy joining us!!!

I would not have put such a lengthy post on the Triathalon thread if I had know you popped in here and already got the lowdown! Thanks for the swimming tips, I need them. I underestimated the swimming part and now I am concerned.

As for me.... was up on time to walk my dog 20 min, then I decided on the Shred DVD for today (Kathy Smith can have a day off). I brought my things to go to the YMCA tonight for the body sculpting class then go for a frog kicking swim. My swim class starts Tuesday, so I can work on proper kicking.

Tomorrow is run day!

Thanks for the welcome. I would not worry to much about the swimming, you will figure it out. I think I said before that when I started it was more drowning prevention than swimming but practice has helped me improve enough to where I am able to just swim. I still have lots of work left to do and I am only hoping that I am not last in this upcoming tri on the swim. We shall see.

Hello my gorgeous gals!

Things are mad, but I just thought I would come by and say hi - am again gonna cut paste and copy from my journal, you'll see why.
I don't know when we'll have the net in the house, but I hope its soon. I've really missed the boards and my LCF's. I'll back soon all. Have a fabulous July. Wishing you successes in all you do. See you soon. MWAH!!

(Ok here's the pasted bit...(Sorry!))

Ok so tomorrow we begin the move (we have to be out of our place on Monday!) We haven't packed everything yet, as we keep tripping over boxes. So tomorrow we hire a van, load what we've packed, pack and load some more. Drive to the house (about an hour away). Go to MILS, get all the stuff we packed and left there, drop that at the house. Drive back to the flat. Sleep in sleeping bags. Get up early on Sat, get an 8 hour ferry to England, drive home, pick up all my stuff from home - incl. the furniture my wonderful parents are giving me. Leaving home on Sunday at 5am, getting the ferry back. Driving to the house. Dropping all our stuff off again. Then driving back up to the flat, sleep in sleeping bags, getting up early Monday to drop hire van back. Come back to the flat, meet landlord, get deposit back. Then I go back to the house, hubby goes to work, and we meet at 11 pm!!

.............but its all gonna be worth it!

Take care all. (And Mel, be good won't you! )

I have been doing ok with the exercise... And the eating.. I already have lost a pound. It poured the rain down today, so we all went 4-wheeler riding today. I am so tired. That stuff just wears me out.

Hope it is a beautiful 4th because I am going to be on the lake this weekend. Swimming all of the time...

I have to attend my uncles funeral at 10:00 on the 4th but after that I am going to be on the LAKE!!! HE was really sick.. His wife die 6 weeks ago.. We always thought that he would go first.

Hi all. I have a busy weekend ahead . . . . . look out. I went to Y early this morning ([B]Maria[B] I don't do 4:30 in the summer, but did head out at 5:30). I did 30 minutes on elliptical and did the round of weight machines increasing most of the weights today by 5lbs. I try to get there twice a week.

Glam I hope your move goes smoothly.

Mel Have a great time.

Barb got your clothes on? LOL

Brian welcome. You are a rare commodity. Can you handle us women??

Have fun Mel!!!

I'm up and fully dressed this morning, thank you very much!

Took Diesel out early. We walked 1/2 mile and jogged the last 1/2 mile home.
Wore my knee brace. Hoping that will take care of the problem.

Still debating on that run before the parade tomorrow. I told my TA friend to call me tonight and I'll see how the knee feels. I want to do it, but I don't want to be the person holding up the parade starting, you know??

I finished the mile! 14:30 something. So under 15:00 was my goal. (And to not finish last, which I didn't! LOL) Woohoo! That was rough. But I did it. Now I have a base time to work with as well. And next year will be MUCH better!

Even though I didn't set the alarm this morning and got to bed later than usual, I still woke around 5:45. I walked for a little over an hour with my Exerstrider Walking Poles.

I'm taking today off! I think. Well, so far anyway. Maybe a short bike ride later. But other than that, I'm laying low.
