Callanetics questions...

Ok... so after seeing all those INCREDIBLE before & after pics on this board, I ordered the Callanetics 10/10. For those of you who have done it/are doing it...

1) Where is the first place you noticed a change in your body? Abs, legs, where?

2) I have a little stubborn belly fat... not much, but enough to irk me. Do you think Callanetics will do anything for that, based on your experiences?

Also, feel free to brag a little about how Callanetics has worked for you! I'd love to hear! It's so motivating to hear from people who have had success!

Thanks so much! I am so excited to get started. I showed my always-skeptical teenage daughter the before & after pics and she was so amazed, she's going to try it, too!

Thanks in advance!

Callanetics? Can't say enough good about this workout.

First place I noticed change: hips/thighs!

Why I'm sold? This workout showed the fastest results of any workout I've ever done in my life. Improved my posture, flexibility, body composition, improved my sleep, and eased my recurring back pain.

It's a workout for ALL AGES, you need no equipment, you can do it anywhere, and it has tons of integrity.

In short: It's magic.

WMS... You look absolutely AMAZING!!! My daughter is 16... and she saw your pics and said, "Gosh, I wish I could look like her!!" How's THAT for a compliment???

So as far as "fat" goes... does it help with that?

By the way, I also do 45 minutes to an hour of cardio (elliptical) six days a week.

Ok I've done 10 hours so far. I notice the most change in my posture, my stomach (both the nasty stuff in the front and the sides slimming in, as in like I have a shape for real!) and my inner thighs. I'm sure there is a change in my other areas, but to be honest I've spent the last 4 years crying over my stomach and inner thighs and posture (I had WLS so I have excess skin but also fat under these particular areas, where my other areas are tighter and thus not as visibly cottage-cheesy) that I'm pretty amazed at how they look now.

LML, thanks for the kudos! Yes, it will zap the fat, but you'll see best results for fat zapping if you keep your nutrition on track and clean and combine cardio with your workouts, which I see you're doing already.

IMO, if you drop a couple days of that cardio and replace it with some UB weights, you will increase LBM and do more good for ramping up your metab and burning fat than overkill on cardio. JMO.

I agree...though I'd also put in a vote for switching steady state cardio to Interval Training and cutting your cardio workout in half. And when you're up to it, doing some reading on HIIT for a fast but unbelievable and exhausting, super fat burning workout.

Thanks for the advice on my workout!! That was my next question!! I've just been doing the cardio because I've not been doing anything else (besides free weights x3 week) but I'll definitely cut back on the cardio and replace those days with the Callanetics. The cardio just makes me feel better... I love my elliptical machine so much that I have to make myself stop!! What is HIIT?

And WMS... I want arms like yours!! HOW did you get those?!?!?!

What is HIIT? Sorry to be unaware!
I just started back on callanetics. It is truly amazing! I did this about 20 years ago when it first came out and I was wearing sz 4 in no time. I was always a 6-8 after having 2 babies and I ran for a period also. The sculpting is what is convincing that it is a great workout. I have to motivate myself, because I would love to be back to a 3 day a wk/one hr a day routine.

HIIT is High Intensity Interval Training. To start out, you want to know your max heart rate, because you are going to be working at 90% of that for very short bursts of time. When first starting HIIT, you do VERY little and work up to typically no more than 20 minutes. You should be exhausted at the end of your (relatively quick) workout

Here's some good information/links, plus some sample workouts:

Interval training for beginners
HIIT: Supercharge your Fitness and Fat Loss
HIIT Workouts: 30 Second Training Intervals
Lose Belly Fat

ETA: HIIT is different than interval training, because of the intensity. HIIT isn't for everyone, but even switching from steady state cardio to regular interval training will make a difference in your workout, and shorten it!

Awesome!! Thank you so much for the info, Dovelette!! (I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't know what it was! LOL!) Could you give me an example of a typical workout schedule for a week? What do you do?

Oh wait, you think *I* do HIIT? No no, I'm not insane, not by any stretch

I hate cardio. I do it as infrequently as possible. Honestly I'm not in the kind of shape needed to do HIIT at the moment.

BUT...I'm "supposed" to not do it right now because of the specific lifting program I'm doing. I'll be adding back in Interval Training (NOT HIIT, I am SO not in shape for that yet, especially since I quit running last year when we moved to Africa) in three weeks when I move on to "Stage 2" of my lifting program.

I lift weights (HEAVY, full body) MWF. I do Callanetics pretty much every other day unless my body is yelling really loudly at me. When I start Interval Training again (Stage 2 of The New Rules of Lifting For Women), it'll be like this:

M = Workout A
W = Workout B
F = Workout A
Following M = Workout B
W = Workout A
F = Workout B

Interval training is on the "workout B" days. So one week I'll be doing 15min of intervals (1 minute hard but NOT all out full tilt like HIIT/2 min. recovery) twice; the next week I'll only do it once.

Callanetics on Tues, Thurs, Sat and Sun.

Clear as mud?

Hi! I'm new here too and I hope you don't mind LML, but I also have a question about Callanetics. I've been doing CLX and have not seen any changes to my body except my upper body is more defined and I'm a lot stronger. I don't have a lot to lose except ten pounds. I have that horrible mommy tummy, that I can't get rid of. I've been adding Callanetics 10/10 the last week along with CLX. I want to complete the full rotation of CLX, but do you think my body would have a negative effect if I added Callanetcs to the rotation.
