Good Saturday Morning,

Day 1 after surgery, I'm EXTREMELY sore. I have a 2 lb. weight restriction for the next 4 weeks, yuk! I'm already struggling to find something to do. Dr. said after looking at P90X, as my exercise program, he pulled me a tighter than normal due to the "abuse" I put my body through

You kids keep up the excellent work, I'll be cheering you on. Have a great day.

I still hate Yoga. Fri and Sat I really find it hard to squeeze in the time to workout. Throughout the week, it is a lot easier for me though.

H20 - I thought about you when I did Kenpo yesterday I brought it hard!! This is the first time in weeks that I didn't hold back because of my shoulder and it felt great. I absolutely love Kenpo!!

MagMa - Good to see you check in

Huff - WTG on Plyo!! It kicks my butt everytime too

Bamm - If it helps, most P90X'rs hate Yoga too My husband won't do it anymore.

I read somewhere that Plyo burns almost 1000 calories. The other workouts even the resistance ones burn around 600. Now depending on your intensity how much more can a person burn on average during P90X. I don't have a heart monitor yet, that's why I'm asking.

Good Monday everyone!

rcagle: glad your surgery went well. Take easy girl.

Bamm: I hear ya. I'm very some-timey with Yoga. Some weeks I look forward to it and other weeks the dred factor takes over. I still do it though. I do find the workout goes much quicker at the first half is over, though.

Nikkismom: Glad to hear you kicked Kenpo's butt. It's one of those workouts where the harder you bring it, the better you feel. Definitely one of the workouts I look forward to the most.

Can't believe I've completed 120 days of the X so far. I'm going to continue to take progress photos each 30 days as usual.

Tonight is Plyo - can't wait! And tomorrow morning in the early, early AM, I officially begin Doubles. I tweaked the days the extra Cardio workout fell on for scheduling purposes, and for convenience-sake, so looks like i"ll be doing the additional Cardio on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, for now. I can't wait to BRING IT for Doubles and get absolutely shredded.

HEY Everybody! Sorry I have been absent as of late. Work has kept me really busy and my wife went to a seminar over the weekend so Sophia and I hung out and had a blast! So my last check-in was a week ago today - sheesh. Didn't realize it had been that long.

So, Tuesday I did Plyo Legs, Wednesday was SHoulders and Arms with Killer Abs, Thursday was Fountain of Youth Yoga, Friday was an Ass-kicking round of Bun Shaper, Saturday was Super Cardio 5-6 and yesterday was X Stretch. This morning was Road Warrior with Ab/Core X+. I have really been tearing it up here with severe increases in reps and weights. The bad news was my appetite got a little out of control - proper foods just WAY too much of them. It is amazing how many apples and mangoes I can eat at one time if I let myself. Anyway, I'm back on target with the calories now.

Let me catch up with what has happened while I've been away:

Goddess - When doing doubles, choose what you like for the second routine on the day. Keep it fun so you keep on target.

MagaMa - FANTASTIC results for your first round. Classic is definitely going to kick that up another notch.

Jennifer - WELCOME! P90 is a great place to begin but P90X is also a good place to start - just with fewer reps and lighter intensity in the beginning. If you choose P90X just realize that you will be taking longer breaks than the kids on the DVD's, and that is absolutely fine!

Bamm - WECOME to you as well and I love your moniker. Don't fret about your numbers dropping some in the second week. It can happen. Just do your best and forget the rest. (Not sure where I heard that, but it is great advice ) Those numbers will pick back up rather rapidly. The problem with chocolate milk for recovery is the protein issue - or lack of protein issue. There are better choices out there. Also - don't drop the Yoga X. I know many do not enjoy it in the beginning but it does get better... and nothing else replaces what the Yoga brings to the table. Tony calls it the Fountain of Youth, and it truly is that. Flexibility, balance, endurance, range of motion, calmness of mind and spirit. Just make sure you clear your mind and concentrate. The time passes quicker that way and it really makes what you are doing enjoyable over time. Remeber, the tougher somthing is, the more you get out of it. Finally - Plyo MAY burn tons of calories in an hour, or it may burn just a few calories. It COMPLETELY depends on you and the level with which you bring to it. That is why the heartrate monitor is so important. It lets you know if you are dogging it or going too hard. That said, I've burned a max of 750 calories during Plyo X.

Wildcat - I've done the Insanity 3 times so far and burned 600, 800 and 780 calories. (I've done it another time or two in the beginning where I did not have on a HRM.) Intensity and heartrate are the keys to calorie burn so it depends on you really. I understand the full DVD series is coming out around June 12th. I am early awaiting its release.

Have a great day everyone!

Love the ARX workout. I'm looking forward to less belly one of these days...perhaps at the end of my P90X journey.

Last night was Yoga X, my body really needed it My hamstrings and Gluts are so sore from Legs and Back. I brought it hard and I can feel it

ARX is an awesome Ab routine that is for sure, I can't believe the difference in my Abs.

Kajun - That appetite can get the best of us at times, great job at catching it and pulling it back in. Every once in awhile I log my good in SparkPeople for a reality check. It helps to keep in my calorie zone. You are killing these workouts!!

H20 - If I had the time I would give doubles a shot. you enthusiasm in contagious

Happy Hump Day,

Looks like everyone is doing a fabulous job w/the work-outs. I'm so jealous, feeling better is not always a good thing, the boredom is beyond explanation and it's not even the end of week 1 yet :0 I was looking over my instruction sheet from the hospital and it states I can use the stairs as necessary, oh yea, I see a work-out in my future, maybe the end of week 2. Of course my daughter might get suspicious after my 20th trip up & down. Dang-it, why would she have to be a nurse!!!!! She's worst than any drill sergeant

KUTGW everyone and have a great day,

rcagle - I laugh because I know I would be the same way Seriously though, don't over do it.

H20 - I already get up at 4 for work, I just can't pull a morning workout during the week. However, I could pull it off on the 3 days that I am off...something to think about

Last night was Plyo, man what a killer workout!! It was tough because my legs/gluts are so sore. I also did Abs because I missed it the other day. I am really starting to see a difference in my arms, finally losing some of the fat hanging around my upper arms

rcagle: I'm sure this recovery period seems like it's going to take forever (was it two months your doc said?) Anyway, just keep positive if you can and before you know it, you'll all ready to give full-out exercising another go!

Nikismom: Yes, indeed. Something to think about. I'd love some company while doing Doubles,

Fitting the extra workout in so far has been kind of tricky. This morning I lay there, so sleepy and sooo not ready to get up out of bed - let alone start a workout at 5:55 am. But once I got up, got the workout gear on, popped the dvd in the player and saw Tony and the gang, I was totally motivated. Weird what P90X does to me...lol.

Glad you're starting to see some good progress in your arms. This time last year, although my biceps were starting to form from doing other workouts (namely, Jari Love dvds), my triceps were still flabby. Now, I can hardly believe how much they've tightened up since P90X! So motivating...that's why I can't wait until these next three weeks doing Back/Biceps is over (as much as I enjoy it) so that I can get back to doing Shoulders/Arms again.

Something I've started doing since beginning this second round of the program, is doing Ab Ripper first, before the strength workout, and you wouldn't believe how much more I'm able to bring it for abs. Before, I was doing Ab Ripper after the main workout, the way it appears on each of the strength workouts. Some days, especially after doing Legs/Back, for instance, it was hard to really bring it the way I wanted to with the ab workout, doing bicycles, fiffer scissors etc. and other moves that require that you move your legs because my legs were already jelly from doing lunges from Legs/Back. But putting Ab Ripper first has proven to be a great idea. I do the moves so much better, and both the Ab routine and stregth routines seem to fly by much quicker this way. Having already done Ab Ripper first, I know when I'm finishing up my strength workout that I'm done for the day.

ANyway, Yoga X tonight. Ahhh...I feel it already!

Great day everyone! I was up at 4:30am yesterday with PlyoX then gave a health talk to the local Kiwanis club at 7:30a. Worked at the clinic in the afternoon and gave another health talk last night.

Did Just Arms along with Killer Abs this morning. I increased my bicep curl weight to 40 lbs each dumbbell. I can remember when I was struggling to reach 8 reps with 20 and 25 lbs and now I'm doing 2 sets of 8 reps at 40lbs while seated! VERY COOL!

Want to see some tripe that passes as knowledge?

This fool says that people should stop doing sit-ups and crunches, that these exercises don't work. I bet this damned fool has never fired up the ARX and let it work her...or maybe she did and failed eh?

If I read that article correctly, he is advocating exactly what Tony has preached in his program. That doing certain moves that replicate your day-to-day activities are better for your body. Also that ab/core work is intense and it does not need to be done every day.

The Core syngergistics DVD puts his theory to practice.

His ab work emphasizes core work and ARX is all about the core. I agree with the points in the article.

They speak of a push up several times and not once is "chest" described as being a part of that exercise when your chest is a major part of a push up. I think of a push up as - bench pressing your own body weight. The bench press is designed to pump that chest up. I do not agree with a lot the article has in it.

The focus of the article is myth busting re: abs then again, that's the beauty of the free press. Take from it what you need and discard the rest.

Is it possible to work Kenpo X harder than when I was actually doing P90X? I think so cos I had no additional energy to spare when Kenpo was in the regular rotation.

I love seeing how much more deeply I can work that core.

My Legs/Back DVD is not in the pack. W T H???? It must have fallen out during the whole pack/move/unpack drama.

I'm sure I'll find it soon.

Evening all - just checking in. Have been really challenged to get my P90X workouts in lately. Had some cold/sinus thing going on and working 12 hour days. Still made it to Krav - easier because it is at night. Had to cut some of my P90X workouts short - hit fast forward here and there cuz I just couldn't give all the time required. Started work about 6 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday (can't bring myself to workout at 4 a.m.). Figured to go with Do Your Best Forget the Rest and sometimes my best is to give whatever time I can do as much as possible but don't feel guilty if I can't do it all. Glad to see the continued enthusiasm. rcagle, glad your surgery went well. Be patient; 4 weeks will go by quicker than you think.

Yoga X for the first time tonight. My hat is off to all you Yoga people. I take back any and every jeer I ever made about Yoga!

Kinda liked it though - just have some flexibility issues to work out over the next 90 days.

Well, life interrupted my workout on Wed.. so I shifted everything over a day. I guess Sunday isn't a rest day for me this week.

I'm looking forward to the end of Phase One and the beginning of my first Recovery Week.

Magama: All you can do is give it your best - which is what you've been doing. I figure it's the effort that counts. I know what you mean about the guilt thing...just this past week, I wasn't able to do the full Yoga workout due to other scheduled commitments. I toyed with not doing it at all, but I figured some Yoga was better than doing no Yoga at all this week. So I only did the first 50 minutes of the workout as permitted by my schedule as opposed to being able to do the entire 92 minutes. Sometimes in life our schedules get hectic, so we, as Tony states, have to "modify, modify, modify". At least you did what you could do, and that's what counts.

Huff: Yoga X is quite something else, eh?

Anyway, happy continued X'ing everyon! I won't be around here this weekend, so have a great one everyone and I'll see you all Monday morning!

I think plyo burns that for sure. I am wasted tired and the my weight is usually down 3 lbs after that workout.

Started with ARX instead of Shoulders and Back on Friday. ARX went well but I bonked during Shoulders and Back. So on Saturday I did shoulders/back during the day and then Yoga X at night. On to legs/back and ARX today.

Hey, H20: Are you going to share those pix?

I missed this week's installment of Legs and Back. I ended up doing the much more demanding Yard X instead. I'll do Kenpo X plus ARX tonight.

After much thought I have decided to start my hybrid CLX/P90X now. I had concerns about the circuits in Phase 3 of P90X. It would be very difficult to modify an entire hour of chest and back when you are limited on doing push ups and pull ups. I had hoped that my shoulder would be a 100% but it is not and I don't think it is worth the risk of injury again. I can tolerate the weights just fine but I am feeling the push ups after about 2 sets. With CLX I don't have to modify. Yesterday I did Burn 1 and Extreme Abs and today I did Burn Intervals and Burn it Off back to back...what a killer workout that was!! This is what the rest of my week looks like:

Monday - Burn Circuit 2 - ARX
Tuesday - Plyo X
Wednesday - Burn Circuit 3 - Extreme Abs
Thursday - Yoga X
Friday - Rest

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!!
