I just watched the documentary "Farrah's Story" and it brought back sad memories of my father's battle with cancer in the early 1980's and what the chemo and radiation did to him - killing him in two short months. It is so much easier to maintain good health than to try and regain it. "Modern" medicine is woefully inadequate. Their methods have not changed at all in 30 years.

Please remember that if you ignore your health, it will go away.

I struggled through INSANITY! this morning. Man, is that thing rough on the calves especially. I haven't had to stop like this during a routine since the early weeks of Ab Ripper X. My goal is to be getting through it without breaks by the time INSANITY! is released, hopefully in June - I have not received a firm date. These workouts, if the sneak preview is any indication will take more mental toughness to get through than anything I've done to date. I hereby dub Shaun T. the "King of Cardio." I cannot wait to tackle this 60 day program head on

I am going to be doing Kenpo Cardio X+ in about an hour - figure I'll give myself a longer break today before jumping in to the next routine. I may use the INSANITY preview as a "doubles" routine for the rest of this round. (It's going to bother me until I get through it without a break.) I'll decide during my recovery week this coming week.

Have a great day!

A great round of X Stretch this morning! My calves are soooo tight from the INSANITY preview, it felt awesome to stretch them so well today.

Words from Tony on FB:

"
Life with exercise creates a completely different journey than a life without it. Making the time for exercise means that you're setting an intention to have a great life. Life without exercise means you're setting an intention to miss out on a better life. The quality of your life improves with exercise and it will get worse without it. Period! Your weight loss is a minute piece to the overall health and fitness puzzle. Every time you exercise you improve your fitness, healthy and quality of life. You always feel good afterward and you allow your mind and body to become less vulnerable to illness and injury. Every day you decide NOT to exercise your health, fitness and quality of life diminishes. You become more vulnerable to illness and injury and the energy and enthusiasm (feeling good) for a better life is not there. This is true for everyone. No exceptions.

Make a plan, stick to the plan and do it... forever!"

GREAT morning everybody! I did Total Body X+ this morning at about 80% maximum weights, since this is day one of my second recovery week. TBX+ is a great routine for recovery week but I don't see it as a staple of a 90 day program, as it is in the P90X+ schedule. I did work up a good sweat, don't get me wrong, and it was my first time doing the routine so I had to learn the moves, but it goes so fast that I see this more as a cardio routine than a muscle resistance routine. I cannot imagine being able to build any new muscle doing this, or even maintaining more than a recovery week or two.

I feel the need to ask - Shoulde we continue this thread? Interest appears to be waning - I'm talking to myself three days running now - and I just want to know if you all want to continue this onward. I have the BB boards to keep me accountable - so I am fine either way - but I've been a poster here since 2005 so I was hoping to get something going here as well.

Continue? Yes or no.

Kajun, I still check this post daily; I don't know what's happened to everyone else. I know you also post on Facebook so I can always find you there.

Your post about healthcare was timely. My Mom was admitted to the hospital on Saturday. Lost my Dad 2 years ago and it feels like we are approaching the same slippery slope.

One of my reasons for doing P90X is to do everything I can do to get and stay healthy and strong. If I follow in their health footsteps - high blood pressure, possible parkinson's, etc. it won't be for lack of working to be the best, healthiest person I can be.

Anyway, I appreciate your enthusiasm and motivation - I have to remember we all come from different places so I may not be able to bring it like you do but I do my best and forget the rest.

Whatever you decide, day 90 is just around the corner for me. I'll share my results in about a week.!

Good Monday Morning all!

I'm still here...jsut wasn't anywhere near a computer over the weekend (long weekend here in Canada).

Ok so I missed Chest/Back on Sunday and ended up making up for it, doing the workout yesterday instead, which in turn pushed Plyo ahead a day...as in THIS MORNING! LOL But I had to do it regardless. So there I was early, early this morning, jumping around and feeling the burn, in my legs, that is. Plyo is no fun at all in the mornings. Still I'm glad I did it anyway. I'm glad to have my workouts back on regular schedule. So there it is...Plyo this morning...followed by SHoulders/Arms this evening. Insane I know but it had to be done.

Kajun: Insanity sounds...well sounds INSANE! I was thinking about it yesterday, thinking I have to try it in the not too distant future.

I agree with what you said about taking care of ones health. We only really get one chance to really, really make the most of it while we have it. My heart goes out to poor Farrah. I didn't see the entire documentary, but the clips I saw were gut-wrenching to say the least. I shed tears over the little bit I did get to see. God bless her for being brave.

How goes the battle Magama? Day 90 just around the corner? That's lovely! I cannot wait to see your results.

I hope everyone comes back to post here again. I miss all of the gang.

Still pushing play!

Sorry I have been MIA, I just had a very busy week and weekend

I am in week 2 of phase II, my first week back from the shoulder injury was great!! I am still modifying push ups and pull ups with weights. I was afraid that I was going to somehow 'lose' something by doing that but I don't feel that way at all. My shoulder is tolerating the weights very well. Last night I did Plyo, it amazing how much more difficult it is when your muscles are sore

Kajun - I would hate to see this thread go away. Hopefully it will pick back up

H20 - You are truly a goddess

MagMa - I am very sorry to hear about your Mom I pray that she recovers quickly. I understand exactly what mean about this is about being healthy. I have high BP, it is hereditary and not related to diet/exercise. I am blessed that I take a very small dose of BP meds and it is perfect. Morbid obesity runs in my family too and I definately have the gene.

I just know that rcagle is around here somewhere

Please do continue the thread. I like the BB forums too, but don't find them quite as personal as this one. It's sooooo busy and so many people asking so many questions about the program it is hard to keep up. As long as you keep this thread going, I'll definitely be here, 'cause I don't plan on not "pushing play" any time soon. I'm usually not around here on the weekends just because I'm so busy and usually not anywhere near a computer, but come Monday morning and throughout the week I'm here with bells on!

Magma: Sorry, I must have missed your comments about your mom earlier. My apoligies. Sending lots of prayers your mom's way.

Nikkismom, like Tony says, modify if you have to. Whatever gets you through it. Hang in there girl!

Great morning everybody! I crushed Core Synergistics this morning. It has been quite a long time since I've done that one. It was not in the rotation during my last recovery week. I'd almost forgotten how much I enjoy it.

Absolutely I'll keep the thread going. (And good to hear from everyone again!) Just making sure I wasn't all of a sudden here alone.

MagaMa - I am so sorry to hear about your Mother. I hope she takes a turn for the better. Spend plenty of time with her but please remember not to neglect yourslf and your workouts. I find it much easier to go through trying times, times where there are things going on out of my control, if I make sure I concentrate on the things I can control, like my health. It has sure given me much emotional strength in the past.

Goddess - Insanity is very well named. my calves are still bundled in knots after doing the preview on Friday and Saturday. I am planning on doing it again tomorrow, with Kenpo Cardio X+ again for recovery week, but we'll have to see how much I can bring to it. My calves are much less tight today than the last couple of days but I certainly don't want to risk any kind of injury. I've taken great care to avoid injuries to this point, probably because I really err on the side of caution regarding my joints and muscles - and make sure I do the Yoga and Stretching weekly. Even if I have to back off a tad on intensity, I'm sure I'll do Insanity again in the morning. Gotta get the calves ready for the full 10 DVD version coming out in a few weeks. I don't know if I'll do Insanity by iteself when I get it or whether I'll mix it in with some P90X/One on One resistance routines. I'll need to go through the DVD's first to see what else it encompasses.

I'm giving a health talk at the hospital tonight to the local Autistic support group. I've been working with more and more Autistic children lately and having really great results. I think my presentation will be very well received.

Have a great day everybody!

Hello X'ers,

I made it back from Texas after 10 last night, a fast and furious trip. I got DD2 moved out of the apt. and into storage. She will be a rock climbing instr. at a large church camp till July, then she's off to Africa on a mission trip for a month. Other than the packing, moving and cleaning I did not get a work-out in, yet I am exhausted.

KajunDC - Awww, thanks for the compliment, " a toilet fit for a king" Question for you, I have to have some plumbing work done [a bladder stint (sp?)], the dr. said absolutely no work-outs and lifting over a gallon of milk for a month. Will my body return to day one, fat, muscle, etc.? I intend on altering my calorie intake and hopefully lose a few pounds. I don't have a choice, well I guess I do, but not if I want to be "normal", I'm just concerned.

Gotta get ready for work, have a great day everyone.

Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts and prayers. Mom came home yesterday, tests are all negative, we'll just have to wait.

Worked about 14 hours yesterday, came home too exhausted to do anything. Back here before 6 this a.m. Hopefully I will get out early so I can do some yoga before I go to krav.

I know I need to keep going with P90X and krav to stay positive and strong. Some days there are just not enough hours.

Welcome surarch. I lurked for a long time here too before I posted. Felt the positive energy and wanted to be part of it.

Kajun, thanks for continuing the thread. Your job sounds extremely rewarding for you and so helpful to others.

H20Goddess: day 90 is just around the corner. I've really backed off the last 2 weeks or so. I know I still have good results and my clothes are looser but I will need to really bring it in round 2 in order to get where I want to be and then to develop a plan to maintain it.

Nikismom: glad to hear your shoulder is tolerating the workouts.

rcagle: packing, moving and cleaning is a workout! Hope everything goes well with your plumbing

Have a good day all.

FANTASTIC day everybody! I really brought it this morning, doing the INSANITY preview and Kenpo Cardio X+ back to back without a rest in-between. I can already tell my calves are not going to be too happy with me later but they'll get used to it

The Autism talk last went absolutely fantastically. All of the parents responded extremely postively and every one of them made an appointment with me to have both the children as well as themselves checked out. A few of my patients with children also being treated in my office were there to tell their stories with me so that really made a positive impression.

surarch - Thanks for posting! I'm glad you are following the thread and inspired by it. This is a wonderfully effective program, as are all the other beachbody programs. Please continue to post on occasion, and when you are ready for the X we'll offer any advice and information we can to help you along the way. Good look with improving your health and life.

rcagle - a month off should not return you to day one shape, although of course you will lose a little of the gains you have made. Ask your doctor how quickly you can return to things like walking. While not really working out, anything will help. Also see if it would be okay to intensely contract your biceps and other muscles without weights... meaning go through a bicep curl creating your own tension with the strength of contraction alone. You could do the same with weightless calf raises, etc. IF your dr. says it is okay. I hope all goes well without any complications or setbacks.

MagaMa - In your final days before graduation! Congratulations! Fantastic accomplishment. I hope your mother is doing okay. Let me know or PM if you need anything. I know what you are going through.

Have a great day!

Did Shoulders/Arms last night and brought it BIG time! Using mostly 10 and 15lb weights and seeing wonderful progress!

Recover week one of round two starts this Sunday! Timing is FLYING past! At this rate I'll have two rounds of the program under my belt in no time at all.

Yoga X tonight...can't wait.

Glad to hear Chalean Extreme is going well for you. That's awesome. I will definitely be doing the program before this year is out...probably mid-summer after this second round of the X.

Well, I'm off to do Yoga X right now...

Good evening all, today was Yoga X. I struggled with it more than usual and found myself checking the clock to see if it was any closer to the end. My upper body is mega sore, yoga helped some. I did take some ibuprofen because my shoulder is a bit more irritated that it has been.

MagaMa - Glad to hear your mom is home I work very long days too, sometimes it is hard to find time to squeeze in a workout.

rcagle - I was afraid of the same thing when I hurt my shoulder. If you are careful of your diet you will be ok. Check with the doctor and see if you can do isometric type exercises. I hope all goes well

LadyB - Good to see you!! I am going to do a hybrid of CLX/P90X after I graduate...I can hardly wait!! I miss working out with Chalene

H20 - You rock girl!!

Kajun - I saw the previews for Insanity...a fitting name I can't say that I plan to rush out and buy it anytime soon

Yes, welcome to the thread surarch! Certainly feel free to PM me in regards to advice/encouragement/motivation or what have you, if you please.

Nikkismom, hope your shoulder heals soon!

rcagle, I guess in light of your doctors orders, the only thing to do is to watch your diet. I'm no expert but I think as long as you concentrate on keeping that in check, at least, you should be fine.

Glad to hear your still bringing it hard Magama. You're almost a X-grad now! Yay!

Great day all! I really crushed Back and Biceps X this morning. I'm a little suprised there is no sorenes in the calves at all this morning after Insanity yesterday. Of course, I had done it two days in a row last week. That would make a big difference. Tomorrow is my first time with Medicine Ball Core Cardio. It looks to be short so I may add Cardio X or the like to it... or maybe Insanity, but I plan on doing that again Saturday with Fountain of Youth Yoga.

LadyB - Thanks for checking in. Glad you are doing well.

Hi All,
Stretch this morning and shopping all day. Think I'll need some yoga tomorrow to help me limber up.

H20Goddess: the time is still flying by. You are doing a great job and I am so glad you are sticking with it.

rcagle: you'll need to tell me more about Chalene; I may need to add some variety after or during my next round of P90X.

surarch: by all means PM me any time.

Have a great Memorial Day Weekend everyone.

Good evening P90X'ers

Last night was Kenpo and tonight was Legs and Back, I brought it hard and had great workouts!! My shoulder is fine, it was just a sore. I bought some Recovery formula from GNC, I only use a half of serving and it really does the trick. I was hurting pretty good after Kenpo...hurtin everywhere This morning I woke up feeling great.

surarch - PM me anytime

Have a safe and happy Memorial Day Weekend!!

Happy Saturday Everyone,

Last night I pp on Turbo Body Blast w/weighted gloves and ball. Not sure what I'll do today, thinking about dusting off my bike, hooking up Barkley's trailer and hitting the streets for a couple of hours.

MagaMa - I have 4 of Chalene's series, ChaLEAN Extreme (weights & intervals),Turbo Jam, Kickin Core & TBB (from above), and her new one, Turbo Kick, it is taped live at some of her camps for kick instructors. You should check it out on Beachbody.com, some of my friends on the Nutrisystem/Exercise board and myself are planning on attending her camp next year in CA, you should come too.

Surarch - What is eating plan do you follow for weight loss?

KajunDC - Can you recommend more reading material for me? I have been planning on going through an online Personal Trainer course, now would be an optimal time seeing I won't have much to do for the next 4 weeks, any thoughts?

I'll check back later after I bust a move doing something?

Friday was some more awesome day! I started out with INSANITY followed immediately by Medicine Ball Core Cardio. I don't have medicine balls so used a 10lb dumbbell instead.

Then I had a fantastic meeting with the owner of a personal training facility in my area. I am so impressed with her and all she has accomplished and her training methods sound intense. She is a fan of P90X and has heard about INSANITY and it sounds like her training can get pretty insane with advanced clients. We are talking about doing several promotional things together to help each other grow our business and she offered me training sessions to try out her facility (as did I for treatment in my office), which I am extremely pumped about. I've never needed somone prodding me to drive me to intense workouts. I can only imagine what I'll accomplish by having someone pushing me to new heights. I felt an immediate bond with her and our thinking is on very similar wavelengths - an extremely positive person with an infectious personality. I've got a great feeling about what we can accomplish together. It has my creative juices flowing.

Saturday was Fountain of Youth Yoga and then I enjoyed my daughter's first ever recital. This one was ballet and she did a fantastic job.

Today I finished my second recovery week with X Stretch. Always a joy and very much needed.

RCagle - I think it is fantastic to go through the course. You will definitely learn a ton from it. I favor books by Alwyn Cosgrove. His can be purchased on-line through his website and many are e-books so you can download and print them yourself. He really understand how the body works. Also Tom Venuto is full of great information.

Have a fantastic day everyone.

Happy Memorial Day Everyone,

I did not get a work-out in yesterday as we were at the Indy 500 race and by the time we returned home it was late and the heat had drained me completely. On top of that we took my DH's TT, it is the most uncomfortable car in the world so my back was talking to me and I'm not a fan of convertables at high speeds w/my contacts, since HIS octane level was extremely high, thanks Bud Light , I was the designated driver.

KajunDC - Thanks for the information. The certification is something that would work great for me since we move every 3 - 4 years, I would always have an income means if I chose to. Wow, the collaboration sounds fantastic and perfect for your drive and success.

I'm off to start my "day off", yea, right Catch ya later after my work-out. Have a fabulous day.

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY EVERYBODY!

I stop to give honor and thanks to all those who made the ultimate, unselfish sacrifice to give and defend the freedoms we all enjoy to choose our leaders and our way of life. Freedom definitely isn't free and I am humbled by the dedication and abilities of those in the armed forces. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Began Phase 3 this morning by crushing 30-15 Upper Body Massacre - 361 push-ups and 219 pull-ups - followed by Ab Ripper X. A great workout after my recovery week. Nice to hit the 30-15 again.

Busy day at the office today with everyone else being off.

Have a fantastic day, all.
