To Gazelle or not to Gazelle?
Hi all -
I was wondering if you could advise me on whether I should invest in Tony Little Gazelle Trainer? I have read lots of reviews, but its quite confusing... Any advice you lovely people? Do you have one? Did it help you lose? Worth the money? I'd be really grateful for any input - Thanks in advance G x |

I thought it was absolutely useless. :-/
I tried to use it faithfully for about 3 months after I got it. It was ridiculously easy, (and I am NOT in very good shape) and very awkward to use. I got zero results from it. Wish I had a better review for you! But, I give it two thumbs down! |

Thanks Chai and Kerry!
A lot of reviews on line are really positive about it too - but there is the odd negative one. I think you hit the nail on the head Kerry - I think its about the resistance. If its without resistance its maybe too easy, but with, its possibly a good workout. What do you think? I wish I had a house! I am going to have to use the last of the free space in my tiny wee flat for a cross trainer...It'll be worth it tho!! G x Last edited by Glamour P!; 04-19-2009 at 08:35 AM.. |

I would go to the store and try to compare the non resistance gazelle with the one with resistance..
I guess I think for an informercial equiptment its been around for quite a while so its gotta be kinda good... most informercial things have a year long shelf life |

I don't have the Tony Little one--I bought mine from QVC. It has resistance that you can attach, but I use it without. I bought it because my knees are shot, and I can't manage a regular treadmill. This is supposed to be "no impact." However, the standing alone is a problem for me for any length of time.
That said, I think it's great. I can only stay on it for about 10 min. at a time because of my knees, but although it's effortless, I can feel my heart rate climb, and I break a sweat. And since it's so convenient, I can do 10 min. several times a day. I'm not [very] out of shape because I swim laps 2-3 days a week and do water exercise, so I know that gazelle can help. Let's face it, ANYTHING that gets you up and moving is bound to be beneficial. If you're already in great shape and very healthy, then, yes, the gazelle might not do you any good. But if you can't walk (like me) and need to get moving, it's a real asset. |

Thanks Leo - thats really helpful. I took some measurements and have found they are far too big for the flat, but I am still looking for an elliptical as we may be buying a house within the next year so we'd have room.
At the minute I am out of action as I just had surgery and am due to have more soon, plus my course of treatment will be adding to weight gain so I am looking for something that I can use in the flat. I agree that anything that can get you up and moving is going to be beneficial. I actually ordered a stepper earlier today so I can't wait for that to arrive. Just out of curiousity, are you in the UK? I ask as I buy lots from QVC in the UK, but I don't see an elliptical on their site... Many Thanks for your reply G x

I have a Gazelle and love it. I do intervals of fast, moderate, and slower pace though, so I think that helps. I love the stretched out feeling I get when I'm done. I have noticed a difference in my legs...my thighs are firming.

YampiePie - I'm so sorry it took so long to reply! The Gazelle sounds awesome - I have realised that no matter how much I want one though, or how much room I think I have created for it, its just not enough, but like I said before we are looking to buy a house soon so I will defo invest in one then. In the meantime I have got me a latereal stepper, and so far its giving a me burn in my legs and getting my heart rate up and I am enjoying it. I still can't wait to finally buy a a Gazelle tho!!

I bought a gazelle at a yard sale for $40. It was the Edge model, no resistance. however, I can do it and definetley feel it in my legs.
I am having trouble finding accurate calorie calculators for it though. Everything that I find online is all ove rthe place as far as # calories burned. |
