Yoga Fans? Come "ohm" with me!

I LOVE LOVE yoga. I haven't done it for about a year due to a shoulder injury but I am ready to get back to it. I am feeling more centered just thinking about it!

Do you love yoga? What's your favorite style? Have a DVD that you really love?

Hi ChaseMama,

I only have a bit of yoga experience and it's been almost a year (used to do a few beginner yoga, with my fav. being "YogaZone for Weight Loss".).

I just recently posted about Bikram. I was studying up on it online and wondered what everyone here thought.

We have a new studio that just opened up near our neighborhood and I just signed up for simple gentle yoga, but will probably work up fairly easily into Flow Yoga which is my fav. Sometime I will try Bikram, but I want to get in better shape first.

I just ordered Yoga for Yourself ~ by Ann Richmond after reading it was a great video for beginners or those that have stopped for quite a while.

ALSO just ordered a new "Monster Mat" as my old one is no where to be found.

What's your fav. Dvd?

My favorite is Rodney Yee Power Yoga: Total Body Workout.

I like it because it's just him in the poses with calming music and a voice over providing the instruction. It's a GREAT workout. It's about an hour and starts out slow, gets really challenging, and then after the relaxation face you are practically asleep and hardly feel as if you even worked out because you are so relaxed.

I am really flexible but I still notice huge strides in flexibilty increases as well as strength and cardio.

I have done others, but I always come back to this one. I like classes ok, but I always feel so self-consious so I like to be at home and do it.

I just took my first Yoga class last night. I loved it. It was a Gentle Yoga class. The only Yoga I've ever done is a DVD called Yoga for Inflexible People which I love because it has so many different routines for different body parts and differing length of time.

I loved the Gentle Yoga class so much I'm signing up for 2 to 3 classes a week and I'm also thinking of the Hatha and Vinyasa classes they have there as well.

I really do love the Rodney Yee one I think because of the more "spiritual" feeling I get from it. You know - unlike someone who yells during yoga!! haha!

Hi everyone!

ChaseMama,

I read about Rodney Yee Power Yoga DVD when I ordered.. I just felt like I really didn't want to go overboard when I first got back. I will have to check it out when I get a few times in.

My mat just came in! I love it.. I bought a "Monster Mat", it's a little thicker than the normal mats (I remember my tail bone always hurt after yoga before on my old mat) and it's so great. I also got this nice calming teal color. I am waiting for my video to come in and I am starting my first class I am pretty sure on Monday.

RavenG
You are so inspirational... WTG.. I bet you are LOVING doing Yoga.. it's wonderful to get in tune with your body. I can't wait to get back to it. I think I recorded a Yoga class on our DVR last night from FitTV.. going to have to see if it's there!

Namaste~

I do Anusara yoga taking 4 classes a week plus one class of Nitha yoga. I have started teacher training in Flow/Power/Vinyasa yoga although it isn't my favorite style.

Rory!

How exciting..
I see you are in FL. Are you anywhere near Orlando?

Where are you going to be teaching?

Can YOU tell me a good video for beginners?
I want to get a couple more.

I'm in Seminole County! I like Patricia Walden's dvds, they are oldies but goodies for learning the proper way to do the poses. GAIM sells them.

I won't graduate until August so no real teaching yet. I'd like to teach yoga to 'real' size woman. Some of these yoga instructors look like they could use a good meal and I think they scare off a lot of bigger students.

I think a practice for larger and "real" size women would go over very well around here!

I just wanted to tell you good luck.
I am telling myself I am NOT going to be self conscious in a class.. but I guess I won't really know until I get there!
