P90-X BRING IT! CHALLENGE

Are you ready to begin the most extreme workout program available on DVD?

P90-X is not for the faint of heart. Each week consists of three days of resistance training including ab work, one day of power yoga, one day of kenpo kickboxing, one day of plyometrics and one stretch (or rest) day. Each program ranges from 1 to 1.5 hours of fun and high intensity. The bodies you see on the P90-X commercials WERE ACTUALLY built using P90-X and are not actors or models.

What you need - the P90-X DVD's. These can be purchased through the beachbody website or through ebay (much cheaper). You need dumbells and/or resistance bands. You can use a pull-up bar (mine is one that hooks on the door jam easily and is quickly removable. - You can use a chair to assist the pull-ups, by putting a foot on it, if you are not strong enough to accomplish them with body weight yet) or use the resistance bands for the pulling exercises. It is recommended you have a yoga mat as well. The only other things you need is dedication and determination.

This is MONTH #1 for the P90-X challenge. I've used P90-X since Dec. 24th, 2008 and the changes in 6 short weeks are quite pronounced. So if you are ready to lose fat, feel great and accomplish things you never thought possible, it is time to DO YOUR BEST, AND FORGET THE REST with P90-X.

Who's with me?

(Any questions, let me know.)

I'm in! Day 2, I'm doing the lean version. I woke up this morning and every single muscle in my body was sore (thanks to Core Synergistics). I love these workouts so far, and I know it's going to change my life! Can't wait to see what Shoulders and Arms has in store for me tomorrow! Do we need those push up bars?

Can you give us some stats? It motivates me to see others great results!

I highly recommend the push up bars. I never realized how limiting my wrists were in the numbers of push-ups I can do. Now some of the push-ups have to be done on the wrists due to the positions but most can be done with the bars and they make them so much easier on the wrists.

I start week #7 tomorrow. I have not taken stats since I began - I plan to do that at the end of the 90 days but I do have my 30 day pics.

I have seen tremendous gains in my arms, which I haven't focused on too much since beginning to lift. I see gains elsewhere as well but my arms have always been small for my body frame.

Looking good Kajun!

I'm doing CLX with plans to start P90x after 90 days, which will put me into late March. I will check in for progress reports.

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE! One of my galpals started P90x and she is loving it, too. These two workouts really seem to generate enthusiasm that is actually maintained throughout the program.

I can't wait for tomorrow's workout!

If you're anything like me and like working your arms and triceps, then you'll LOVE the Shoulders/Arms workout. I really enjoyed it. It's great and Tony really encourages you to challenge yourself by setting goals for how many reps you plan on doing. And no, you don't need the push-up bars for Shoulders/Arms. Just a chair and dumbbells.

Well...fickle me, switched from Lean back to Classic. After much evaluation, I think Classic is the better route for me to go at this time. Since I'm already at my goal weight I decided to focus solely on sculpting and muscle building and less cardio. After this 90-day round I will reevaluate things and probably do the Lean.

It's Yoga X night tonight!

Are you using a pull up bar? Were you able to do pull ups prior to this program and if not, did you see yourself progressing at a good rate?

Actually I just started P90X about a week ago. I am using a pull-up bar, though. I can't really do a full pull-up yet, no.

OMG - feeling sore like never before! It's early morning and I'm sitting here at my computer at work and am just now starting to feel the effects of of the Shoulders/Arms workout from last night. My shoulder blades and shoulders are SOOO sore. But it hurts so good!

You should put that in your siggy!

I love the pain. I love the push we give ourselves doing this. Way back in high school gym, who would have thought I'd look forward to the next day's push ups?

Wow Kajun! Very motivating!

I think I will enjoy the soreness when it wears off a little. Right now, everything hurts! I have continued doing my 4 mile walks with P90X, but I think I may take a break from the walks for a few days. P90X is kicking my butt! Can't wait to feel the pain from doing shoulders and arms! I really like that work out. I didn't use very heavy weights because I wanted to see how the workout was first. I will up my weight next week. I must say that I absolutley hated every second of the ab ripper . I could only do maybe half of the exercises! But my core is my weakest part of my body. Good thing I'm working it so hard!

What weight dumbbells do you use? I want to do this and now I've gotten my boyfriend interested, but I need to know around what weight dumbbells we should have for it.

I have a set of dumbells that range from 5 lbs to 40 lbs in 5 lb increments, and I use them all (except the 5 lbs), depending on the lifts. P90X works all the muscles at so many different angles, some angles will be much weaker than others, that a good range of weights is beneficial. You can also buy resistance bands to sub for dumbells - I do that when I'm on trips and can't take dumbells with me.

Ab Ripper X is extremely tough, especially if you do it right after the resistance workout, which I do. I've just started my 7th week on the program and still have yet to get through all 349 moves on ARX. I don't pause the DVD's to rest. I break for 5 reps and rejoin when I get my "wits" back about me again. I'm getting close to completing it all finally but those pfifer scissors are brutal, as are the mason twists for 50 reps.

I absolutely LOVE the Yoga X and X Stretch. With the yoga, I was extremely tight and limited the first two times around. Now I can do and hold all the positions with full rotations. The improvements in flexibility I've gained in such a short period has really blown my mind.

I am really looking forward to yoga tomorrow. I am certainly not expecting it to be easy (not after that warm-up in cardio x!), but still looking forward to it. I have never worked out 7 days a week in my life, but I do plan on doing the stretch this Sunday. I had done Callanetics for a month and I loved being so flexible, but I've totally lost it.

By the time we get to the mason twists I'm almost dead...I got out about 15 of them last night and was poofed.

Ok, so I think I underestimated Yoga X. I knew it wouldn't be easy, but I thought it might be easier than the others, boy was I wrong. I didn't like the first hour or so, but I liked all the balance and stomach moves. Of the 4 workouts I've done, Yoga X is my least favorite!

Hi all!

I'm in. Just discovered this thread today. Would love to jump in with you all.

I am on day 12.

I am doing the Lean version.

I am with you on the Mason twists. I get to 20 and I am DYING. I break and attempt to finish the last 10 with them. Those are killer.

Tonight is my leg/back workout. I love this one best!

Welcome Dorothy. I'm a huge fan of Legs/Back as well. Truth be known, there isn't a workout I don't like. I'm doing classic. Phase 2 has you doing back and biceps followed two days later by legs and back. With all the biceps work in those two it hurts so bad for a week after to completely strighten my arms or flex them completely. I've never shredded my biceps so completely. Funniest part is just how quickly the biceps adapted. They were sore after the second week of Phase 2, but nothing at all compared to the first week and all soreness was gone in two days.

With the mason twists I'm up to 35, then a 5 rep break and I finish the final 10 - so I am right on the cusp of getting through those.

I did plyo X today... the "mother" of all P90X workouts. That is one fantastic, but tough, hour.

It gets alot better very fast. Two weeks made such a difference in what I could do. The first week I could not even get my arm behind my back to grab with the other arm through my leg in the lunge position to open the shoulders (can't remember the name of it off the top of my head.) Now I can not only clasp my hands but grab my wrist.

Do the X Stretch faithfully along with the Yoga X and those improvements will be quick.

In the Lean version we don't do the Plyo. We only get a taste of it in the Cardio X.

I am not completely keen on the Yoga X either - it is just so *very* long. How many down dogs must one do? That being said.........it does feel SO good that by the end I am so limber.

My DH did the legs/back last night and almost passed out. I think Tony would scold him for bonking so badly.

Now I can not only clasp my hands but grab my wrist.

Do the X Stretch faithfully along with the Yoga X and those improvements will be quick.
Ah yes. I had to laugh at myself when trying that one! And I didn't even attempt the crane! Well, I did, but my feet never came off the floor. I knew I would fall on my face if I tried.

I am not completely keen on the Yoga X either - it is just so *very* long. How many down dogs must one do? That being said.........it does feel SO good that by the end I am so limber.

My DH did the legs/back last night and almost passed out. I think Tony would scold him for bonking so badly.

I agree. I got really sick of the downward dog! I can't wait to do legs and back. Legs are my favorite!

Yahoo! I'm in! My hubby and I are doing this together. We are in the middle of week three and have either Yoga or legs and back tonight - I can't remember. This is my first time doing Yoga of any kind. I always thought it would be very relaxing to do - WRONG! Not in this workout! By the time we finish all the ashtangas I'm dead on my feet. I have a hard time with some of the stretch positions 'cuz my tummy gets in the way. Overall, I think that Yoga is actually the hardest workout for me.

I hate jumping jacks! I LOVE P90X! I am seeing some real progress in terms of strenght and flexibility so like Tony says about the ab ripper - I hate it, but I love it!
