Hi,
I'm new to this, not even sure how to subscribe to this board! But I am keen, I need to get back into callanetics and the shape I was in before I ate and drank too much on my honeymoon - but oh what fun! ;-)
Anyway, I have 10/10, cardio callanetics and super. I plan to do 10/10 three times a week and start running every day after work.
Only problem is my renewed enthusiasm meant I pushed myself very hard at 10/10 yesterday and I think I may have pulled a muscle in my thigh. GRR
Oh well, glad to find inspiration on this board!

It's the late afternoon now and my legs started hurting a little but it's more of a soreness way inside, so not like the usual big muscle pain if that makes sense? It's as if only the deepest layer of my leg muscles are hurting if that makes sense!

Is that a good sign that I did the exercises right or should I be in way more pain since I never exercise?

I have to say, I so badly want to do another hour today but I need to resist and wait for tomorrow lol!

Schedule to see results

Hello everyone,

I've been luking on this board for awhile and done Callanetics off and on, but it's high time I get myself in gear.

I've got a question for Sandra or Twyla. I need help to set up a realistic exercise schedule that would be realistic. Would it be too much to do cardio 3 to 4 times a week and Callanetics 4 times a week too? I'm trying to lose about 50 pounds and tighten up too.

I have the CardioCallanetics, Evolution, 10/10 and AM/PM tapes. Sandra, I love your Evo tape, though I must confess I've only used it a few times because I'm still trying to learn it. lol Remembering to keep the pelvic floor engaged for an hour takes a lot of concentration. I'm done for in the AB section after 2 minutes, which says nothing for the strenght of my abs. So I must confess that sometimes I'm tempted to shelve Evo for awhile and just do 10/10 because there's less to think about.

But I think I understand now more what Callan means when she says tip your pelvis in and tighten your buttocks, I guess she meant to tighten the pelvic floor muscles..

Okay, I'll stop rambling. Thanks for the advice in advance.

Kavitha

10/10 done = 10 more hours to go.

I am finally feeling the scopes in my inner thighs, something just came together or my muscles became strong enough to feel them (?) either way I hope this new development will show up in my measurement results when I weigh myself at the end of the month.

Hello all

Just done my 4th hour of 10/10 today, towards my target of 14 for this month.

Feel great...sleeping well too!!! )

I also did a Dance DVD yesterday but I have to say that although it made me sweat and was probably really good for my circulation, I missed callanetics - didn't feel that I'd worked out in the same way with the Dance DVD as I feel after doing callanetics.

Callanetics rules!!

Done 2 sessions of 10 in 10 and plan another tonight. Trying to get in 12 this month.

Question.... Does anyone use a timer to count the reps instead of counting? I took a lesson from a qualified instructor once that said I counted too fast so instead she suggested the timer. So, I'll time for 100 seconds instead of counting to 100.

I'm going to order Evolution DVD in a minute. It seems it will explain a lot. I've been doing Callanetics off and on for years, but will stick with it this time. This board is so encouraging and active it will help me feel supported and not so isolated in my goals.

Also, in trying to eat better, I heard a raw foodist say today she tries to think of eating as "nutrifying her body". I liked this.

Happy Saturday to all......

Did an hr of evolution. Just got a Leslie Sansone 5 mile walk at home for cardio, need to see if this will help me loose some inches.
I turned 48 today, I feel good about my body, I'm glad I discovered callanetics!!

Happy birthday, Enjoy!
I'm so glad Callanetics is making you feel good. How long have you been doing it for?
I love Callanetics because I know it's something you can do whatever your age. I'll be 39 next month and I do believe that if I tone up before turning 40 and feel good about myself, it'll be easier to come to terms with that milestone!

Hello Rawbee.
Funnily enough I was thinking of getting out my stopwatch last night as I did my hour of 10/10. I'm going away for a week soon and will have to do Callanetics in my bedroom without the tape. So I thought that if I wrote down the list of exercises and timed each one, I would have a more accurate plan of what to do than if I simply counted the repeats.
But are you sure the 100 repeats last exactly 100 seconds?

Done hour 4/10.
I have to go jogging in the snow now...

Have a nice Sunday everyone.

Hi, Kavitha.

I'll let Sandra address the second part of your post. Let me just say that in the beginning, don't becomed overwhelmed with too much concentration on form. Do the best you can, and it will eventually "click," you'll begin to engage naturally and instinctively. But Sandra will elaborate more to guide you with this question.

As for your proposed schedule of cardio & Callan, I say go for it. I'd encourage one day of rest. Rest is vital to maximized fat loss. So just double up one day and do both Callan and Cardio when you have more time, allow a day of rest, drink PLENTY of water, and watch your nutrition. Weight/fat loss is 80% nutrition.

I wish you well on your journey to the new you

HELP! My left leg is toning faster than my right leg! After the workouts it feels as if only my left leg hurt a bit and then now I really see that my left leg is tighter than my right. Did anyone else have this problem?

Both my mother and my friends have noticed it too! Will this even out?

Thanks Sarah, I started Callanetics in October and I have done about 50 hrs. My body is much tighter and very flexible, infact my 14 year old niece was shocked that I am more flexible than she is. I am not losing the inches that I want, but I believe that is because I need more cardio.

And what better endorsement could there be for Callanetics?!

Hi everyone...after a stressful January, I am back in..for February my goal is 9 sessions. Dec I did great at exercise and January I think I finally figured out my eating...(I am doing the intuitive eating) and I am hopeful I may actually be on to something for myself. Glad to be back on track. I have missed everyone's stories and encouragement.

Hi everybody. I'm recovering from a very gross stomach virus I came down with over the weekend. In the middle of my misery yesterday, one of the only things I was happy about was that the virus didn't interfere with my Callanetics schedule!

I'm happy to read that you like Evolution. Please don't be discouraged if you feel that you're not sure about the exercises and concepts. It's totally normal to be unsure about engaging the pelvic floor. It's something that we do so many times without thinking during the day but the second we have to 'think' about engaging our brain goes in to overload.

It's also normal to forget and lose the engagement. If you do don't worry just engage again when reminded. In no time you'll know when you are no longer utilising the pelvic floor as the exercise or stretch won't feel anywhere near as deep. This comes with practice. The important thing is that you keep up regular workouts. You'll be amazed how quickly it'll come together.

In no time you'll be running through the concepts checking your position without any effort. It's a bit like when you first learnt to drive a car. So many things to think of and do but soon you're driving without even thinking of the process.

Keep posting any queries that may come up.

Happy Pulsing
