December Callanetics Challenge

THIS IS YOUR OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE OUT AN INSURANCE POLICY AGAINST GRAVITY BY JOINING US FOR A MAGICAL MONTH OF CALLANETICS EXERCISES

Never has there been an exercise program
to work so fast and efficiently
to improve muscle strength, flexibility and endurance.

Are you ready to reshape your body in ways you would never imagine?

Are you ready to begin looking YEARS younger after just a few workouts?

Callanetics is NOT just another workout!

It is a tried and true method of reshaping our bodies that uses every fiber of every muscle, gently, deeply and almostly magically -- a workout for all ages, one that can be done ANYWHERE, and with no equipment.

This form of training will firm, tone, smooth, tighten, strengthen, lengthen, and lift our bodies like never before!

Developed by Callan Pinckney in the 80's, Callanetics is a series of small, gentle, precise motions synergistically and consistently applied, that activate the body's largest most powerful muscles to quickly tighten hips, buttocks, inner and outer thighs; flatten the tummy; lift the bust and firm underarms and tone the entire body. It will also dramatically improve your posture and balance. You will feel and see a difference after only one or two hours. Callanetics is like magic!

THERAPEUTIC RELIEF: Callanetics is as therapeutic as it is effective. You will sleep better, relieve stress, and minor aches and pains you may be used to experiencing regularly will suddenly disappear. Many sufferers of fibromyalgia, knee and back pain, and even carpal tunnel, have experienced dramatic relief from this program.

INCREASED FLEXIBILILTY AND ENDURANCE: Because Callanetics works the muscles of our bodies deeply, you can expect to dramatically improve muscle flexibility and endurance, making aerobic and cardio exercise easier, as well as improving performance with traditional strength training with weights.

In the Callanetics Monthly Challenges on LCF, you will find tons of daily inspiration, tips, and professional advice from certified instructors of Callanetics to help you make the most out of one of the most effective workouts you'll ever encounter in your life.

Hi...I am new here and after two whole hours of Callanetics 10 in 10 under my belt and Callanetics Evolution and Cardio on their way from Amazon I am so excited to be here.

I will tell you all a little about myself...I am amost 39 and have four beautiful children (10 boy, 7 girl, 4 girl, and 2 boy) which my husband and I homeschool. We have been married 18 years and I also work twenty hours each week as a registered nurse.

I have tried Callanetics in the past but never stuck with it. Looking at all your before and after pics I am soooo hoping this will work for me. I am not really doing anything special with eating except no refined sugar or white flour. I really like Stevia so this helps.

So I am off to work today and happy to be here.

Lori

Newbie...Callanetics in Connecticut???
Hi I have been searching the internet to see if anyone teaches Callanetics in Connecticut and have not had any luck. I really want to do this program but I am soooo unmotivated and lazy . I just really hate to exercise. But seeing everyone's posts I know this will make a difference in my body and back.

If there aren't any trainers in CT does anyone have any tips how they motivate themselves to do their exercise if they have the super lazy syndrome as I do?

Thanks and I look forward to being part of the board.

Lori

I'm in CT and did Callanetics and LOVED it (until I started T-Tapp and then my VCR died, so my Calllanetics tape is useless to me now).

My advice, just come home from work at the end of the day, march into your bedroom and just get changed. Make it non-negotiable, like making dinner. It's something that just has to get done and try to remember the wonderful stretched out feeling.

Good luck!

I'm in! Did Evolution for the first time this morning. Wow! I felt even more stretched out than I do with 10 in 10! Felt super mellow afterward! I have watched the concepts chapter over and over, which I think really was very helpful. I will be curious when I go back to 10 in 10 to see how these concepts and some time with Evolution change that workout for me.

Cheers!

Newbie - I'm in!

Hi everyone, I'm new here. I read about Callanetics online about a month ago so bought a Callanetics video and hadn't used it until I found this website by accident!!

All of your comments and photos seem so inspiring and helpful so I'm definitely in for Callanetics!!

I'm gonna aim to do 14 although looking at the calendar I've noticed that one of my days will be boxing day so I may fail!! Anyways I'm aiming to do Callanetics M/W/F and rebounding T/Th... Depending on how I find Callanetcis, planning on poss getting another Callanetics vid to alternate between!

I'm looking to forward to 'pulsing' my way to a tighter bod!!!

Order a DVD. They're pretty cheap on eBay. I got mine for $8.99 (the 10/10 with free shipping.

Chantyl, I just noticed you added an 'after' pic. Girl, you are looking GREAT! Good job!

I thnk I can get 23 hours in this month, if I keep to the schedule I'm setting for myself. *crossing my fingers*

I was being vain while getting dressed this morning, checking out my body, and I can already see a difference after two weeks. I even got a compliment about getting in shape yesterday in church. Now, that's kind of sad. I lost 18 pounds in October, no one said a word. I only lose 3 in November, but start Callanetics, and then I have someone actually notice that I'm losing.

I think I'm going to start getting more out of my Callanetics now, though. Since I've learned the exercises completely, I'm going to stop using the video every time and really focus on nothing but the exercises. I'll still play it a couple of times a week, because I know my form is still far from perfect, and I want to be reminded of proper form. Anyway, I know that I'm getting more out of it, simply by allowing myself the time to do all my reps. Watching the video and writing down each exercise's technique has really helped remind me of what to focus on, too.

Just wondering, does anyone know how often I should take a Calanetics break? I'm planning to do it 5 days on, 1 day off for this month. It worked for me for 2 weeks in November, but do you think that's realistic longer term?

Just did my 1st hour for December and 2nd hour of callanetics overall...

Only the 2nd one, but even that one felt more effective than the 1st one!!

Just had a quick look back over some of Sandra's comments about how to perform some of the stretches better and they really do clarify things a whole lot!!

Dunno if I feel relaxed or is it nigh on exhaustion!!!

Hi guys, thanks for all your wonderful inputs, I have done more than 12 hours of 10 in 10and do 3 mile brisk walking 4 x a week, I absolutely feel tighter and my behind does not look bad either, but I have not lost any inches, my pants feel tight around my upper thighs. I have read all the threads about this happening, but is it unusual to still have this after more than 12hrs? I really love callanetics, but when do I see more changes. I plan on doing 12 to 15 hours this month, did super callanetics for the first time this morning. Thanks again.

Newbie here

Hello everyone! I'm new here but not new to Callanetics. I have know about it for a number of years now. At one point I had done about 10 hours, I was starting to see some exciting results! But my friend who had been doing it with me had to stop and I kind of petered out after that. I am ready to jump back in again. I was looking online last month hoping to find an accountability group. Boy was I excited when I found this forum!!!! So here I am out of lurkdom, count me in! I am going to commit to 14 hours, M/W/F and rebounding T/TH. Just like you wrennyroo!

A little bit about myself. I am an old fashioned christian country girl. I am the oldest of eight kids. I do all the cooking for the family. I raise Airedale terriers, help around the farm and with our family's many businesses. I enjoy knitting, reading, baking, working with my dogs, photography, gardening, sewing and just about anything crafty and domestic.

Let the sculpting begin!

Good luck!

This is excellent advice Way back in the 80's when I first started Callanetics and I was going to spend the day at home I would get up and immediately put on my leotard and this put me in the mood even if I was a reluctant starter initially.

What works for one person may not work for another. It really is a case of you finding a pattern that suits you. Bear in mind that once you've reached your ideal shape you don't need to workout as often. Maintenance is very easy. It only takes one or two sessions to bring you back.

I always tell my regular students to take a couple of weeks off exercise every now and then. Twice a year is good. The body really appreciates a total rest. When you come back you'll find that you'll be able to relax more in to the positions and you will work even deeper and the results will come back super quick

And I don't mean a break from just Callanetics but a break from all exercise programs except walking.

Everyone, who has worked regularly for a few months and had great results,
freaks out when I tell them to take a break but when they come back they are ALWAYS amazed at how easily they were able to perform the exercises and how their bodies just sprang back in to shape.

Happy Pulsing

Absolutely normal. You've lifted up quicker than you've pulled in which is the norm. Try to see this as positive, you're resculpting your body and your buttocks must now be higher.

Make your goal now to stretch out more through the spine when working out, check yourself always that you haven't collapsed in to your hips or pelvis. The more stretched out you are while you are pulsing or stretching the quicker the body pulls in. If you haven't pulled in after another 5 sessions let me know.

Also, make sure that you don't leave it longer than 3 days between workouts.

I'm afraid to ever take a break of more than a day or two! So many times, I've had a regular fitness routine going, skipped a week and couldn't get back in the groove. That's kind of the same reason I fear eating a single bite of refined sugar/flour. My husband and I are planning a mini-honeymoon in the spring, though, so maybe...

I was checking out the Evolution DVD tonight on Amazon, and I'm still a bit star-struck that I'm actually getting advice from you!

Thanks to everyone that welcomed me. I worked today and tomorrow and then I am on vacation until 12/18 so I am going to use that time to start some new exercise habits. I love the accountability of this forum. I have also started checking out all the wonderful links thanks so much for them.

I find that right now when I do say the leg exercises that my leg shakes, I am hoping this will get better as I get stronger. I also HATE the pelvic rotations. They are sooooo painful for my thighs. And I figure I am only doing about half of the exercises because I have to stop and rest so often. On the stomach ones if I make it to 25 before resting I am doing good. The backs of my arms have ached all day...what a killer that one is! My favourite is the back stretch...love that one. But I do love the overall feeling after the workout.

Glad to be here. Have a great night everyone.
