Hello all,

I just wanted to share a really amazing experience I had after this morning's Evolution workout. I have been doing a challenge or boot camp (inspired by t-tapp) and have been doing Evolution daily since Dec. 1st. Today, after my workout (which my husband joined in for at least some of, YEAH) I felt like stretching and did so. An very old injury (from my teens or even childhood) kept certain vertebrae in my upper back "locked up" and stiff. I literally had physical therapy for this starting at age 18. I am now 40. I have done years of yoga and other exercises, but never experienced any change in this part of my back. I don't even notice it anymore, it has been so long. Anyway, today, after Evolution, I stretched and felt a deep, deep release and crack at that area of my back. I really cannot adequately describe the feeling... it felt so, so amazingly good, but I also felt like crying and almost did so... a weepy feeling of whatever emotional release went along with the physical. So, I am very impressed and happy with the rehabilitative effects of this workout. By the way, I have also done 10 in 10, but did not have this particular result with it. So, on top of the great muscle and toning benefits I have had from Callanetics this was just AWESOME!!!!

Sandra, as special thank you here... and you, too, Ben for the flexibility and form pointers. I have learned so much from you both that I have been trying to apply. I know your help has added so, so much to this. Thanks also to everyone here.. the support and questions teach me daily.

I hope this helps someone else, too!

I am feeling sooooo good now!

Hi All!
Ok, Ok, Ok - I'm in!!!
I'm a longtime LCF lurker by way of the recipes section tho I do not follow any particular WOE, except for a bit of calorie counting. I'm single, mid-30s and have decided that I want my 'bikini body' back for life!!
I do not exercise as regularly as I should and still have approx 20lbs/2 sizes I'd like to lose. I'm a big fan of Lotte Berk and Bar Method, but have had 10in10 for over a year and never tried it. I am so inspired by the stories and results I've read here that I've finally decided to dive in !
I've done 10in10 2x, and am waiting for my copy of 'Beginning Callanetics' to arrive (also have ordered Super Callanetics, Quick Hips, Stomach and Legs for later months to come). My goal this month is 14 sessions of '10in10' &/or 'Beginning Callanetics' - whohoo!! I'm going to try to take a 'before pic today.
I do have many questions, but will be reading through the past challenges before posting.
Thanks all for sharing your experiences and inspiring newbs like myself!! I'm quite excited.

Hi, Sandra !

hope you don't mind that I just jump in for a question on this. Engage the pelvic floor during running? i am just trying to imagine this now.
Do you think that this can be done?

thanks

*&%@ ab work

I've been doing Callanetics since August. Today, I finally feel my abs after doing all the ab work. My abs were EXTREMELY weak when I started, and rounding up was torture. It's still a big challenge and I always complain about the ab work. BUT...today, about 1/2 an hour after my class, I could feel my abs. Sore, but in a good way. I'm very aware of them.

This has never happened before. So maybe, just maybe, the exercises are starting to strengthen the abs.....

I'm so excited!!!

I just finished number 3 for the challenge. I have to say it seems to be getting harder instead of easier! I started thinking it would be a good idea to take a class to make sure I am doing everything correctly. I googled Callenetics in Portland, and was so excited to see that Judy (from Evolution) has three studios here! I think I will continue using the DVD's for this month, and sign up for a few classes next month.

I used to work out regularly, but a lower back issue has really slowed me down, so it is really great to find such a great work out that even my physical therapist approves of! I have lost a lot of strength and flexibility, but it seems to be coming back pretty quickly!

Hi Val,

It probably would have been better to start with a one hour toning DVD to really familiarise yourself with Callanetics exercises but, absolutely, you'll get great results with CardioCallanetics.

I'd really recommend studying the Concepts chapter as much as possible. The more you understand and utilise the concepts the quicker you see the results.

Happy pulsing and don't forget to post any queries you may have.

I was the one who recommended to Valcan to get Cardio Callanetics!
But I first told her to get 10 in 10 which she did, but after I got Cardio, I told her to get that, that if I had that before she asked I would have told her to get that!!!

Oh, Sandra, I should always check with you first!

Hey Kellie,

No worries about where I started! I have both, I just chose to start with the cardio one. I think I will order Evolution too and rotate between the two. I am also going to rewatch the concepts tonight.

I just finished my second cardiocallenetics workout. I really like the two part workout. I think I am doing things right. I really think that the pelvic movement is similar to the one used in Oxycise. Can someone confirm this for me?

Just finished my third hour of 10/10... the first time I did it, the part during the hip exercises where she says "Your leg might feel glued to the ground," my leg DID feel glued to the ground. When she said, "You will be amazed at how quickly this becomes easy," I thought YEAH RIGHT!! But today it WAS easy. I look at all the amazing before and after pictures and have SUCH a hard time believing that could be me, too, but this workout really is incredible! So glad I found this forum.

The more stretched out you are while you are pulsing or stretching the quicker the body pulls in. If you haven't pulled in after another 5 sessions let me know.

Also, make sure that you don't leave it longer than 3 days between workouts.
Hi Sandra,

I seem to be pulling up rather than pulling in. My thighs still haven't gone down that much and trousers still don't feel that loose, yet my bum does look smaller. How can I pull in?

Thanks

What Em said

I, too, am, moving up and not in yet. My thighs look a heck of a lot better than they did before, but my hips look kinda odd...higher, but still too wide. NOT a good look. I"m just really glad it's winter and I can camoflage with big heavy sweaters.

Another question: for those of us with a substantial amount of weight to shed, do you go thru the whole "up not in" thing several times?

Is there anyone here who has taken off a lot of weight (more than 20 pounds....more like, 50 or more) who has experienced this?

I am committing to 3 x a week between now and New Year's, in the hopes of pulling in. My food is "clean"...so if there is anything I can do to "pull in", I would appreciate some suggestions!

Have a great day, all....

Hi ladies - When I started Callanetics I was 30 lbs heavier (still want to lose 20 more). What you are talking about is completely normal. Everything moves towards the middle which makes for bumpy hips/tummy for awhile. Because of my extra weight I didn't notice the pulling in until at least a good 25-30 hours in. As I told you all last week though, I was able to slip into my size 8 petites the other day and I'm 5'2 and now weigh about 145 pounds - I never could fit into size 8s at this weight before so I know it is in a big part to Callanetics. Keep the faith, it will happen!

Thanks Kelley,

It gets disheartening when things are tighter! I do watch what I eat and power walk for about hour and a half a day as well as doing 40 mins at least Callen. I am worried that maybe if I am not doing them right I am bulking up!
When you noticed a difference was it big? Or quite gradual? I try to engage the pf and stretch out as much as I can. Soemetimes I really feel it in the muscles but other times I don't.....so I worry I am not in the right position.

Thanks

Em

I'd like to start Callanetics, but have no idea where to begin. What DVD would be best for a newbie - I need the "explain it to me like I'm a 5 year old" one. Maybe Evolution? I've lost 150 lbs and have basically no awareness of my body because of all the changes that come with losing that much weight. And I'm extremely saggy and baggy - my skin looks like a shar pei!

Just reading about engaging your pelvic floor, curling your pubic bone, pulsing, and not collapsing your hips makes me Help!

thanks!

The "Beginning Callanetics" DVD is a great place to start. I love it. It explains everything so clearly. And just because it's called "Beginning" doesn't mean it's easy. It's still a challenging workout only explained in really easy and simple terms. It's the perfect introduction to Callanetics.

"CallaneticsEvolution" is a little bit more complex for complete beginners but it will actually give you super fast results. So if you can afford it get both

First off, just let me say "I NEED YOUR AVATAR!!!" I have never seen anything more perfectly me in my life!!!

Secondly...you totally rock!

Thirdly... ok, I've only lost 50+ and have 30 to go, but I have become the biggest clutz in the world. I fall and run into stuff all time! I have reasoned that after years of weighing so much more, that to now weigh less takes some adjustment. It takes a certain amount of force to move a body forward. When that body is lighter, if you use the same force it will topple over! (this is why baseball players warm up with weights on their bats... same force on a lighter bat knocks the ball further.)

I have been dying to share that theory. Thanks for listening.

Happy Holidays!!!

This is my first post on this board, I usually hang out on another LC board but let me tell you ladies and gents, the stuff yall are posting about Callanetics is pretty dang intriguing!! I bought the videos and plan on getting started tonight. I am really ready to get going especially after reading through all the threads on here about the amazing results, but I have one question.

Everyone I've seen in these threads so far has been... well as far as I'm concered already pretty thin. Mid 100s which is pretty healthy for a woman. I still have a good chunk of weight to lose, about 60lbs. So what I'm wondering is: will I have the same results in such a short time? Or should I wait til I'm closer to goal and use Callanetics as a tightening tool? I really want to use this program as I need to tighten up as quickly as posssible for me wedding which is in March. Also, is it true that people are really losing whole dress sizes in 10 sessions?! That's mind blowing!!!
