OMG, my quads are so sore from doing a run and 10/10 last night... I'm not sure I'll be able to get in my 15th hour today. It may need to wait until tomorrow.

Did my first hour of 10/10 just now...it was a lot harder than I thought it would be. My neck was hurting very badly during the stomach exercises, and I also had difficulty with the hips/behind section b/c that's where the majority of my body weight is. It was so hard to try to lift my hip on the side. Also, what the heck do you all use for the leg stretches if you don't have a barre? I tried using one of my chairs, but the back of it is too high. I'm a little discouraged at the moment, but I will try the 10/10 again later this week.

Did 5 hours this past two weeks after a two month break. Can't believe how quickly I've sprung back into shape! But first session back nearly killed me! Ouch!

Aiming for 12 in January.

Hi YampyPie,

You could try using the seat of the chair or one of your stairs. I use the arm on my sofa, it's just the right height for me.

If you look back over this month, there is some good advice about the neck when doing the stomach exercises.

Hope that helps and well done on doing your first hour. You won't believe how quickly it will get easier!

off-topic/flex effect

Hi Elaine

Thanks for posting that link about Lou-lous exercises; I am going to get the e-download.
She is one of the trainers off flex-effect who had fantastic.
results- so i am sure anything she has to say will be good.

I have been doing Flex Effect for 13 months; for a long time I did it 5-6 days a week. Then I switched to every second day and feel i have got better results doing it this way..

Bottom furrow and Lower Lip curl exercises give me a bull-dog jowl look!
These are flex effect exercises that do not work with my face.

WHEW!

Way off my goal for the month! Completed 6 1/2 hours of callan and 30 minutes of Pilates. My goal of 15 was very unrealistic for this month! I've modified my plan and should hopefully be able to stick to it and if I do, that will put me in for about 20 in January......but we'll see....!

Happy New Year to everyone!

Oh, I actually wanted to add......When I started callanetics I was at 197 lbs....After 2 months I actually am now at 185 lbs! Now, I must say that the stomach bug that I had may have contributed a little to that, but not all of it. I know that if I can keep it up and stick to my goals....the results will be fantastic! Maybe I'll even be able to try on a bathing suit for summer! (It has been years since I've even HAD one!!)

Again, Happy New Year!

Thank you, kimfin...I will try your suggestions next time I use 10/10, which will be tomorrow. I have heard such great things about Callanetics that I want to give it a fair shot.

Welcome Yampy

When I do the leg stretches and hip and thigh exercises I use the back of my couch (it is not against a wall it sticks out into the room) or I use the footboard of my sleigh bed. I have 16 hours done and I still have trouble doing some of the exercises. Some days are better than others and I feel stronger on some days than others. I wish you the best and I am sure you will do well. I find the accountability of posting it a huge motivator to keep me exercising.

Everyone have a great day...

Lori

and I did Evolution today.

Sometimes I get frustrated with the "bar" substitutions for the hip and behind exercises, and I do them "Evolution" style, with my hands on the floor.

But if you're serious about face sculpting I'd seriously recommend Deb Crowley's FlexEffect program. I've been doing this for nearly 8 months and absolutely ecstatic with the results. It takes a few months to see any difference and you have to perform the exercises at least 5-6 a week. Deb does say that it takes 12 months of regular workouts to see a dramatic change.

Just for the record, I've done Carol Maggio's Facercise over the years and even spent time with her in LA. Also, I've tried most of the others but FlexEffect is the bomb as far as I'm concerned. It's the only way to replace the loss of subcutaneous fat that we lose as we ago. You're doing this by building muscle much like weight lifting. I also engage the pelvic floor and stretch up as I do each exercise and this intensifies it I feel.
Thank you Sandra for your time in replying and the recommendation, I will definitely look into it!

Does anyone do the am/pm workout? I am doing that one right now to start but I also have tried the super callanetics and I feel the super is alittle to hard to do it everyday right now and the am/pm seems it is maybe to easy. Can you still get really good results with it, especially if Im going to do it everyday. I just ordered the 10/10 and hope that is something in between that I can use until I move on to super.
