10 in 10 vs. evolution question
Hi, I have a quick question for all you callanetics fans. I have the 10 in 10 dvd and really like it but I am considering getting the evolution dvd because the original takes so much time setting up the exercises. I bought the two 20 minute dvds for the lower body; hips and butt and also the legs but I think I would get more out of the full workout. I just want to know, before I buy, if the evolution dvd takes as much time to set up the exercises. I have read on the forum that the evolution dvd has a teaching section and that really appeals to me also. Taking a class really isn't an option, I'm SO far in the sticks there isn't anything like that available. I understand the reasoning behind having good form but to have to listen to Callan set up EVERY exercise bored me so much I couldn't continue using the dvd. I get amazing results using the hips/butt one and love it but really want the full body workout.
So, anyone who has done both tapes, can you tell me if they are about the same in this respect? Either way, reading this forum has inspired me so much that I am pulling out my old 10 in 10 tape. The results are worth the boredom of the workout. I was just really hoping the evolution dvd has more of a "flow". ![]() |

Hello WillBfit ![]() here !Do get the evolution dvd, you will find it very different from the 10/10. Sandra is leading the program and I find her way of teaching very comfortable. There is an extra section on the dvd about the callanetics concepts, Sandra explains them step by step and you will find that that will change the way you work out. As you work out regularly you can alternate the two dvd's, so you wont get bored and still get a great full body work out every time. Why dont you come to the Callanetics challange ? Sandra is posting there and lots of other Callanetics lovers, you will find lots of support there for any of your questions. Best wishes, Romy ![]()

I agree with Romy. I think you would love the Evolution DVD. It's the same, but different, and more comprehensive, esp with the concepts section, which is very important to apply for maximizing your results.

Thanks for the replies, after reading them I promptly ordered the dvd. Didn't take much persuasion, huh? After I ordered the dvd, I was reading some reviews on amazon and one person wrote how one of the "cons" to the evolution dvd was that they took so long to set up the exercises. I thought that was pretty ironic.
I'm going to do the 10 in 10 dvd now and hopefully a few more times before my evolution dvd gets here. Then I can judge for myself. Has anyone done Kari Anderson's Reach or ALC2? Just curious, those looked interesting. |

Hi, I understand that the set up can be repetive and boring after a while However, once you understand all the CallaneticsConcepts and apply them 100% to each exercise you'll find that you'll go right in the exercise and not worry about following the setting up instructions Some of my advanced students do this in my studio so that they can get extra pulses in. I think you'll probably find that Evolution is even more repetive than 10/10 sorry about that but we need to ensure that we follow each step precisely to that we are effectively isolating the muscle group we want to train. Thsi is vital in achieving the quick results that Callanetics promotes and delivers. It definitely isn't a mindless workout it takes concentration and focus so that you are guaranteed to achieve rapid sculpting. Remember, it's the position that isolates the muscle group and the pulsing action that tones and changes the shape of the muscle so it's important to follow the setting up and described. You'll soon realise that we are doing the same thing for each exercise and you'll go through the set up at YOUR OWN PACE and not worry about following me. 1. Engage the pelvic floor muscles 2. Stretch up and lengthen out of the engaged pelvic floor to create tautness in the muscles you are going to train 3. Move in to the position for the required exercise 4. Relax and let go of all muscles 5. One of the tiny pulses I know this is probably more info than you asked for but I just don't know when to stop when it comes to Callanetics.Hope to see you on the Challenge and Happy Pulsing

Sandra,
Thank you for your reply and so you know, there is never to much information when it comes to Callanetics. I have already noticed a difference in the way I am "feeling" the exercises since I began studying this forum. The information posted by you and the other experts here are the closest thing that I will ever have to a one on one class and I am so grateful. Ok, now I REALLY can't wait to get my Evolution dvd!!!! Thanks for the advice!! |

Sandra,
Evolution may be repetitive in the sense that you're reminding us frequently about things, but the set-ups are definitely not as time-consuming as in 10 in 10, and there is not a lot of down-time spent giving pep-talks and asides. Callan's set-up for the first ab exercise is excruciatingly long, as is the set-up for the kneeling exercise after the exciting pelvic rotations. I usually use the set-up time to do more reps, but I use my remote to zip, zip, zip through Jeanne's amazing transformation, Midge's graceful and ingenious use of furniture, and Callan's coins between her legs . It really moves things along. |

I agree I do callanetics 3 times a week and always move the remote with me when I have to move around and fast forward during all of her talking! Only if I feel like I need some additional help or feel like I might not be getting it just right I listen in

That's what I'm talking about!! My remote has issues and I spend all of my money on WO videos instead of a new DVD player so this is really annoying. Plus, every time I look in the mirror and see how saggy my rear is compared to hers, I get depressed. My legs could hold a few dollars worth of quarters! ![]() |

willbfit, thanks for the question as I was wondering the same the same thing.
I'm just getting back into exercising, tried 10 in 10 today and didn't feel very motivated (no flow), so was wondering if Evolution was a little more inspiring. But the real question I have is will I get the same 'quick' results from Evolution as is touted by 10 in 10? |

i'm so stoked on this callanetics thing - i just ordered the 10 in 10. i'm at a healthy weight now and i just want to tone and firm up. i currently do 40 minutes of cardio 4-5x week and some light upper body weight lifting- Sandra or Twyla, i'm curious - do you still do cardio in addition to your callanetics? i really enjoy my cardio - i like to sweat and push myself so i'm a little reluctant to give it up for callanetics. i could do both, right? like alternate days?
