callanetics gave me cellulite
I am new to the board. Just signed up. I had done callanetics about 11 years ago. I have always been thin, but not very toned, however I did not have any cellulite. I started callanetics and suddenly I had cellulite. This kind of scared me off of callanetics and so I stopped. I have never been able to get rid of the cellulite since then and have been wondering a lot about callanetics. Would like to start up again, but I am nervous about the cellulite getting even worse. Thanks for any input and help.

I'm not an expert on cellulite but from what I understand this is what happens: As Callanetics works so fast it will often reveal what is actually already there hiding underneath. As your muscles pull in and things start to tone up the cellulite will show through. But this should only be temporary. The tiny pulsing movements in Callanetics gets the blood pumping deep into the muscles which actually helps to reduce cellulite and improves overall skin texture.
Hope that helps with your question. If you come over to the Callanetics challenge thread there are some experts there. Callan Pinckney, creator of Callanetics, mentioned in one of her books about changing her diet and getting rid of cellulite completey. |

Hi, I had exactly the same problem while training to become an instructor and it freaked me out and the reason was how Ben explained. If you come over to the Challenge thread you'll learn some tips to help with this. In particular we now actively recruit the pelvic floor muscles which helps enormously improving the appearance of cellulite. Especially when you create the pulsing/toning movement from the pelvic floor muscles. Of course there are other factors in cellulite developing but definitely Callanetics and the new concept of engaging the pelvic floor does help. HOpe to see you on the thread

YOu definitely should see a smoothing of the tissue. It won't eliminate the cellulite but it certainly will improve the appearance as long as you do keep your pelvic floor muscles super strong and keep a maximum stretch out of the pelvis. On a side issue - I read an article somewhere that eating flax seed oil helps improve the structural integrity of the fibers which support fat and help prevent cellulite...and the best luck I have had eliminating it is with Medi-Sana slimming shorts. They make you sweat but...hopefully by the time my callanedtics DVDs come I won't have to use them.
