My sister introduced me to Callenetics years ago, and I never could seem to get into them. I really want to because they look so productive, but the tape bores me, I can't do any of the abdominals because I can't lift my head off of the mat due to back/neck problems (and abdominals are the ones I need the most!), and I don't have the self-discipline to read them out of the book and try them myself.
Help! What can I do to change my viewpoint on this? What can I do about my abdominals that doesn't require any tension in the neck or back? |

But was anybody just disinterested or bored by it even though it's so great? What did you do to motivate yourself? Also, aren't there any modified things for the abdominals?

For Snoop
I don't think it was a clothing size every 10 days but I started in August and people couldn't believe the difference through August and September.
As a matter of fact, I did lose a lot of inches. Unfortunately I didn't measure myself. I'm going to get measured tomorrow and try to get back on track with Callanetics. It really has changed my lower body. |

I know the quality of my before/after pics are crummy but Callanetics gave me a super flat tummy after my 2nd child I thought I was going to need a tummy tuck but with callanetics my stomach was so slim and tight. I just need to get off of my duff and start doing it again.

Twice a day
I did it a few times. I was SOOOORRRREEEE! It still averaged out to about 3 or 4 times a week. IMHO, your body needs some rest time. Sometimes you don't feel the exercises right away, other times, you REALLY feel them.

I think it would be more effective to use that extra 45-60 mins for cardio, or switch use another dvd that hits different muscles.

Okay, I'm going to ask my own Callanetics question.
I would be a complete Callanetics beginner, but I am no stranger to strength training or exercise in general. Which DVD(s) should I get? When I see them listed on Amazon, it seems very confusing. How long are the workouts? I would want to use them to supplement my cardio training (couch to 5K at this point, hopefully work towards 10K later on). So, should I get 3 different full-body workout DVDs, and do each one once per week, on alternating days, as the running requires alternating days, too? |

KBabe,
I'd begin with either Callanetics Evolution or Ten Years Younger in Ten Hours. These are pretty much tbe basic Callanetics workout program, all inclusive. Once mastered, you would move on to Super Callanetics. These DVD's take approximatley 50-60 mins. If you're short on time, you can break it up. But it's a good idea to do the FULL program at least when you're beginning to get a good command on the form, etc. Form is EVERYTHING with Callanetics. Don't rush it. Work it. Best of luck to ya! ![]() |

Another question: how much room does it take to do the videos?

KBabe,
Doesn't take much space at all. I do my workout in my family room. For the barre work segment, I use the island that separates my fam room from the kitchen (perfect height for me). Otherwise, no special equipment or large spaces needed. |
