Question for those who do Callanetics

Hi. I have been wondering about Callanetics. I notice it brings about all kinds of great results and is basically a yoga/ballet/body sculpting program.

The question I have is do you combine cardio with the program? Or do you just do the straight Callanetics?

I'm thinking about doing them in the future but my concern is not enough cardio.

Just curious.

Thanks

Yes, S/M, you should include cardio into your exercise program. Callanetics offers a cardio DVD (I've not tried it), but regardless of the form of cardio, you need to incorporate 3-4 days a week of cardio for best results, along with your Callanetics.

Callanetics builds long, sleek, sexy muscle, and it tightens and slims like no other, but without proper nutrition and some cardio to burn the fat, you're not going to see those tighter muscles and thus you won't see the results as noticeably.

Choose a form of cardio that you enjoy, one that you know you'll stick to.

Hope that helps.

Hi There!

Callanetics has a DVD called CardioCallanetics, 30 mins of cardio (mix of yoga/ballet) and 30 mins of toning. I would suggest that you invest in the CardioCallanetics, its not for slackers! Plus it gives you all of the benefits of Callanetics in 1 hour.

Also one thing i've started doing recently is Joyce Verdal's interval Aerobics no impact DVD, its a great fat burning, non-stop workout that Joyce delivers.

I just wanted to add this. The cardio should really depend on your fitness level, so you may want to do cardio 2x a week and then work your way up to 3x a week.
Like i said it depends on your fitness level and always check with your Dr before starting any exercise program.

Thank you for all the info. Years ago, back in the late 80s I bought the Callanetics book. Never followed through with the exercises (was young and one of the many books I bought over the years) but they seemed to make sense to me.

Currently I'm at the gym every night after work and it helps me to get out of the house where I'm more tempted to not exercise and stay on track.

But after a while I know I am going to want to try something different. So this is great info. for me.
