I am in for 12 sessions this month. I am hoping to add Evo to my collection soon, so I may be switching up from the 10/10.

ThyckCutie: Sorry about the dress...frustrating given the cost, but terrific news about your toning!

My friends wedding is next weekend. In Feb I ordered a dress size 12, which ran smaller then normal from Davids Bridal. It fit fine. It was a little loose around the waist but nothing a bow couldnt fix if I tied it around. I tried it on again yesterday because I was going to add some pieces to it to enhance it....its way too loose...in the bust area....the waist...slightly in the hips. Its no longer a fitted dress that shows my shape. It just hangs. In a way I feel good about this but Im going to look a disaster for my best friends wedding and its too late to get alterations since they take 2 weeks to do....I dont know what to do......Dont get me wrong...Im happy about the inches lost!!

This is how my dress is supposed to look. Its really nice.

I love this dress! Good and bad news for you TC - the dress doesn't fit properly anymore but it's because too big

This is why I tell my students to not rush out and buy clothes in the first few months as your body shape can change quite dramatically all over.

Last year one of my students was taking most of her wardrobe to her dressmaker every few weeks. Her clothes were all designer labels so she felt it worth it to have them altered. The dressmaker, who had never done Callanetics, became the biggest fan of the program.

It's a shame that you can't take it back and exchange for a smaller size.

Anyway, congratulations on your inch loss.

What I decided to do was keep up with 10/10 Mon Wed Fri and then do on Tues Thurs Cardio Callanetics (just aerobic portion) and one body by design from evolution so that I can really have the mental energy to wrap my mind around it. I did it today - tried the abs portion first. Really feel like I am getting it now! Before, by the time I got to the abs, I was too spent! Once I get through Evolution in this manner, I will try again to do the whole hour... start alternating it with 10 and 10. I really do like it - excited whenever I read Sandra's posts and what it has the potential to do. Bring it on!
jerseygirlsunshine, i think we have exactly opposite problems: i can't get the choreography of cardiocallanetics, so i keep giving up somewhere in the middle. i just can't figure out what they're doing fast enough to imitate them properly before they're off onto some other confusing combination of arms and legs . i was just thinking today (after yet another ill-fated attempt) that i should just do one segment a day until i can master that choreography before i move on to the next one -- just what you're doing with evolution.

on evolution, i always wonder: why do they save the abs for last, when you're already spent??

Sandra, thanks for taking the time to write out the visualization, I'll read it later (when I have time).

Hey, if you make a recording, I can lay down some very meditative music behind it if you want some. I'm a musician/composer.... I'll PM ya.

we all dislike ab work and want to get it over and done with early in a workout don't we? However, the reason for abs being at the end of the Evolution workout is that by the time you get to it your neck and mid back have been stretched and warmed up beautifully so it is easier to round up and keep the neck more relaxed and this way you work deeper in to the abs.

Before we filmed and when I was teaching the Evolution program, exactly as is in the DVD, my students complained about the abs being last but there were less neck issues, even with the beginners. Also, everyone had to admit that they were able to feel their abs working deeper.

If you really don't like the abs being last you can do them earlier on - say right after the warm up exercises. So, after you've completed the hamstring stretch with the rotation move on to the ab chapter. This is the beauty of DVDs and remember Evolution is the Body By Design workout, so you can mix it up if you like and to suit you.

I like to read this stuff - what works and doesn't work, what you liked and didn't like. It's how we learn and are able to adapt.

Hi again,

Just letting you know that I'm going to be filming in my studio.

I want to show some do's and don'ts of some of the Evolution exercises and things to watch out for.

However, I'd appreciate some feedback from you on which exercises you'd really like to see covered. Which ones are you finding the most difficult to understand and feel working.

I want to eventually have all the exercises demonstrated but would first like to cover the most important ones, the ones that you are finding challenging and frustrating.

I'll let you know when it's up and running on my website although this may not be for a couple of weeks.

Happy pulsing - let's make July the biggest and best challenge so far

Wow you must burn a lot of calories! I'm not a nutritionist but I've found a few calorie counters that roughly calculate your calorie needs depending on your lifestyle. I found one here Calories Per Day Calculator

Myself for example, I took my height 5'5" and weight 140lbs (I'm 24) and I actually selected sedentary for my fitness level and just to maintain my current weight doing nothing as far as exercise I would need approximately 1793 calories per day. I also did my ideal weight of 120 as well and sedentary and I'd need 1684 calories per day. If I was as active as you are by going with my current weight and very active I'd need 2438 calories or extremely active with 2868 calories

Another site I found useful is caloriesperhour.com you can actually go through your activities during a typical day and it gives you a combined total expenditure of your calories, which will also help you in figuring out how many calories you need.

So take a little time a play with the calculators. Its not an exact science but worth looking into. I hope this helps.

hi

this is my first post and i just started the 10 hour one yesterday and i done another hr today
my neck also hurts a lot during excercise so i have to support it
my right shoulder is sore today too and im aching all over
i found muscles i didnt even know i had lol

one question i have though is everyone is adding up hours but i noticed on my 10 hr dvd it states at end about working out for an hour but some of the time is used on them explaining things and showing the excercises so your not actually working out for a full hour
is this the same for everyone ? even though you count hours is that the length of the dvd as opposed to actual excercise time?
thanks

Welcome, A/M. Seems you're already experiencing the MAGIC. Take it easy, esp with your neck issues, and work up to all the reps gently.

As for the hour thing, you're right, 10 n 10 says an hour, but that DOES include the instructional discussion, which, after you learn the workout -- and it won't take long -- you can fast-forward through that discussion in between the exercises and just focus on the training and on form.

As you become familiar with the workout, make sure you truly are focusing on the muscle group that you're working, engaging that muscle, relaxing everything else, and with time you can incorporate much of the pelvic floor tightening tips that Sandra has so expertly explained and advised us on throughout this thread, and in last month's challenge as well.

Don't become overwhelmed. Just do what you can, and work on improving as you strengthen.

Best of luck to you.

Marian - FitDay has a calculator to figure out your caloric needs for the day. If you eat too few calories, your body will hold on to it's fat for dear life. With Callanetics we are building muscle, and your body needs enough calories to be able to do that!

It sounds to me like your body is pushing all it's fat out just the way it's supposed to. Callanetics works the deepest layer of our muscles, which other kinds of working out may not affect. So even though seeing all the cellulite emerge is distressing, it sounds like it's really working for you! Our deep muscles are firming and toning and not letting that fat hide down in there. Keep at it - I bet in another month you'll see that cellulite disappear!

1 hour down!

I personally dislike the waist stretch, though its much better after Sandra explained it (actually, not bad at all anymore, I can do it without a chair and no back pain!)

I also find the leg stretch part a trouble spot. I never know where exactly the stretch should be, and it took me many hours of 10/10 to even figure out what you are supposed to move ...(leg up and down, right?).

Sandra,

From your post, does that mean I am engaging my PF too hard if my legs contract? Its really my upper inner thighs that contract

Great THANK YOU!

Legs and hips to start off with. I don't feel I get my leg to extend from the hip when doing the first and last leg exercises at the barre. I have zoomed in to see the ladies but cannot really see how they are doing it with the black leggings, perhaps two toned ones would be better? The hip ones the soft arch in the back, and position of my shoulders and hips.
