This can vary from person to person. Some people follow atkins, others ww, and others do their own thing. As far as cardio and callanetics, well that varies as well. For some 10 hrs has shown drastic improvements and others it took longer. The calories you need should be based on BMR which there is many threads in main lobby and on this site to help you calculate that as well. As I first stated though, it varies from person to person. Good luck on your journey!

Hi Response,
It all depends on how much time, effort you are willing to put into it. Are you following a WOE, WW, Atkins??? Are you in good shape to start Cardio training, etc.
If you want to start anywhere a good place is Beginning Callanetics and work up from there, then later throw in some Cardio if you wish.

Noreen, thanks for the advice - I was doing it like that at first, and it felt really awkward...I'll try it again, now that I'm more experienced and stronger! Welcome back! How was the powwow?

Response, thirty pounds by next March is a good goal. That's about 4 pounds a month. I haven't lost any pounds doing Callanetics, but I am changing my shape. Have you tried a low-carb way of eating? It's a good starting point--low carb with healthy whole foods. Walking is terrific exercise and I think it's a good compliment to Callanetics.

Dont get discouraged by the changes your body will go thru. You may have times you dont like what it is doing but I promise you if you keep going you will see positive changes. And stay off scale for a few weeks. When first starting any exercise program you may gain but its the muscle and water working together to sculpt you. Good Luck!

it counts, girl...
Thank you for answering my question! I am going to count it as an hour then. I didn't realize I could be such a perfectionist.

I am consistently beating myself up becuase I don't think I'm working out hard enough when I consider how drastic the changes in others' have been in such a short period of time. I keep thinking I have to work out till I'm throwing up to change my body that fast!

Noreen-- does the behind excercise on the chair work better then than the one on the elbow? I thought that one worked quite well too, but it doesn't seem intense enough.

I find for me personally it works quite well. When you start its perfectly fine to lean waaay over and use your elbow, but you don't work as deeply. i found that when i used my table ledge i got faster results. Callan even talks about this in her book.
Try and focus on your form and not so much on your back, shoulders. Just focus on getting into position and pulsing.

For upper body I used S. African callanetics upper body workout from the mini workout dvd

For the hips I did Quick callanetics Hips

40 minutes of shakin stevens!

Go on try it!

Its up to you. I like to change mine around. Sometimes in the Am when the baby is down for her nap, or after everyone has gone to bed in the evening.

CONGRATS NOREEN

I'm getting ready to go off and do my 10/10, but was lurking the boards and TTapp caught my eye. Has anyone tried it? Is it similar to Callanetics? Would love to hear everyone's views.

I'm going to add in some cardio work this week to supplement my 10/10. I didn't have the energy for it before, but I'm feeling stronger and know I'm standing taller.

Congrats Noreen! That's fantastic!

Thanks for the advice, too.

I did another hour Super.....tehe, or tried to, more like.
Anybody else dragging their legs pathetically over the floor in a weak attempt to open and close?

Wow, Noreen, congratulations! 200 hours sounds like forever from here, but, wow, very inspiring!!!
