Thanks Ben. Nice to see you!

Yes, I think that's what I'll do. I tried doing that but then you can't straighten from the pf to crown, so I ditched it again (didn't know what to do with the old arms, either)....but if you do it too....works for me!

Thanks for the pic!

Another hour of SC completed!

Will I get quad definition from SC alone?

Here's how they do it in the "New Callanetics" book. Notice how she has spiralled round to the side rather than facing forward. The great thing about this is that when you spiral your spine you automatically lengthen up through the crown of the head. I've also found that doing it in this position also works the muscles differently and so makes it more challenging.

Thanks for that pic Ben. I looked for book but they want 87 bucks on amazon and 233 on albiris, that out of my price range lol. Anymore exercises for stomach they have different in that book?

If you go to Amazon .de (the German site) they have it cheap and your Amazon account will work there too. The stomach exercises in that book are similar to the ones in CallaneticsEvolution but there are a couple more where you have your arms folded. A bit like this one: (this is from Mary Adams technique which is very similar to Callanetics - she used to be a Callanetics teacher in the 90s)

Thanks Ben for your feedback on SA callanetics. I have the series, but am mainly doing Evolution (I don't have any original Callan, except a coupla books). I had wondered about Sylvia Lampe's shape (and Tracey Hebron) compared to our gorgeous Sandra, though then again I wasn't sure what her shape may have been before she started training, I bet she progressed a lot.

Anyway good to hear your take on the exercises. I've done the first SA DVD a coupla times, I quite like it, but I only do it when I have time to alternate with Evolution. Plus I'm still a callanetics baby so am not really in a position to compare, though they do work the PF and foot stance.

That German book looks good, pity it's in German! Anyway, I have my hands full with just Evolution at this point!

I have the same thing going on with my abs. In fact, here is a picture of mine. Mind you I still have at least 30 pounds to lose, so please excuse my thunder thighs. Believe it or not, they are actually looking a lot better since beginning Callanetics. I will post a before photo eventually... just need to have DH upload it on to my computer (was taken with his digital and not mine)

Dani, that's a beautiful two pack! You've got a beautiful body shape.

I am liking how my waist keeps curving in a little more each session. I tend to be the rectangle shape with my chest, stomach, and hips all pretty much the same measurement, ugh! So, this is a blessing, giving me a more feminine looking body.

Also, when I'm in bed, I can see my hip bones!! And, I just bought new panties, and they are all too big, LOL.

Through it all, my weight remains unchanged, 135 pounds, 5'4.

Thanks for the pictures again, Ben! The most interesting thing it says in the text is that the big buttock muscles feel loose and relaxed when doing this- the muscles that work are 'deep in the fold'.

I start to see the tiniest hollow in the sides of my bum....hu! Also, my legs are very defined now! I ust wished I could get myself to eat a bit less....

Hmm, that lady with the stomach, though. Shouldn't her nose point to her chest? That looks like it'd put pressure on the lower back, no?

Dani - you are looking hot, girlfriend! Very curvalicious.

When we say "deep in the fold" are we talking bum crack, here? Because I too have noticed that the hip/bum exercises don't feel very difficult and I wonder how they work to make that precious peach. I've been doing them leaning on my elbow, engaging the pf, etc. Don't know if I'm strong enough to sit up a la Benjamin, but I'll give it a try next time!

I just ordered the Quick Callanetics DVD's. I am looking ahead to the fall when my time will be at a premium (daughter will be back from her granparents, homework every night, etc.). This way, I'll make Callanetics a part of my regular bedtime routine And I'll do a couple 10/10 sessions when I do have the hour.

I was going to join a gym, but this is much easier to fit into my schedule and will be more cost effective over the long run.

My Beginning Callanetics video arrived late yesterday - looking forward to starting out slow and getting into this with all of you! Should I expect a lot of soreness at first??- as I said before I have been extremely sedentary for awhile now. Also planning on getting my pedometer set up today and adding some walking in to get me moving.

I'll be back once I've gone through the tape the first time - I need to learn how often I do it each week, etc. still - I'm excited but nervous for the learning curve and the discomfort I imagine will happen for a bit.

Have a great day -
Amy

Hey, no discomfort! Discomfort means you are not doing it right. Though in the beginning there may be a touch of the rubber leg. If you don't like how it feels, ease up a bit. There is no rush whatsoever, and the necessary strength will come very quickly even though the first hour may not feel like it.

Antonya, yup, bum crack it is. It says the muscles are very deep in there, and to put a hand on the bum, should not feel contracted.

Amy - after my first few hours I experienced quite a bit of muscle soreness, but that went away quite quickly...I still get jello legs by the end of 10/10, but no soreness at all anymore.

Enjoy it! Callanetics is so awesome! I echo Comma: just do what you can do, and you will see fast results!

Yes you are right. She looks like she is straining her neck. She should be aiming her nose into her chest.

Hi guys! I've been enjoying all your posts, and thank you so much for uploading pics, they're definitely motivational to say the least.

I just finished my 3rd hour last night. I am a bit disappointed in myself because 1st, there were some parts where I couldn't do the whole exercise, like pelvic rotations, I could only do half on each side; 2nd, DD keeps climbing on me and interrupting, so I didn't concentrate, and I don't know if I really put in my all. Know what I mean?

Do you still think I would have gotten results from tonight's work out? I'm hesitant to even count this as my 3rd hour.

ooooh, those exciting pelvic rotations! i couldn't finish them all at first either, and then for a while not without whirling wildly through them to get it over with. i can do them properly now, but oh brother, i remember how they felt at first...

it counts, girl...
