Sky, the 10/10 is the whole body concept, and though it may seem difficult at first, you will be AMAZED at how quickly your strength, flexibility and endurance improve. Don't think about reps right now. Don't overdo and/or push too hard. Do what you can, as much as you can, and just be AWARE of form, because just being aware of form is helping to guide you, and that too will improve as you grow stronger. 15 secs on the abs starting out is great. Don't beat yourself up!

I feel like I'm twisting my body all wrong and I absolutely CAN'T tilt my pelvis up once I'm in that position, I feel really awkward and strange. Is it suppose to be extremely difficult to tilt the pelvis up? I feel like its nearly impossible to do that and the exercise at the same time, I can't hold it.
This depends on how conditioned your abs are to begin with. The less conditioned they are, the weaker your abs, the more difficult this will be at first. But again, patience, positive attitude, baby steps....that will get you there. Yes, it's a tough workout, but that's why it delivers. But it's not jarring your body from here to the moon, and placing excessive stress on your joints...and YET, IT DELIVERS BIG TIME.

Forget numbers. Think patience, form, baby steps.

You'll get there in no time.

AM Callanetics done. I'm really trying to focus on my form and feeling the working muscle. I'm feeling it much deeper.

Okay...Mom-in-law and Grandma-in -law are gone and I'm ready to return to Callanetics....I'm having trouble getting motivated though but I can definitely see a downward trend in my body. What's the easiest way to restart? It's been over a week since I've worked out and I feel like I'm back to no hours in but I really have 16 hrs in....insert large sigh here!!

Just do it. Insert an extra break if you need it, but don't push, just work your way through it and pat yourself on the back when you're finished.

BTW, I'm up to hour 18 and have seen some really great results....now if I could only get my eating in gear LOL. French fries are just tooooo yummy! Must be a southern thing!
Oh I don't envy you. I did an hour Saturday morning before spending the better part of my day at the salon. It felt so good. I went out of town Sunday and got back late so I will do an hour tonite for sure. I can see more muscle tone now. I have definitely got to get my eating on track too I go on vacation in soon and I need my abs and inner thighs to look better. How about we devote 5 days to eating well and 2 for not so well?

You're gonna feel real good after you finish it or real bad if you don't Go for it even if you decide to break it up in sections. You can do this, you're making great progress!

Thanks Twyla and Nappabella I will do whatever I can tonite and at least I will have done something. Isn't strange how I know I will feel soooo good afterwards yet the motivation to get started escapes me. But if the chocolate was a mile away, I'd walk for it LOL! Thanks again...I'll think of you both tonite.

Napabella, 5 days off and 2 days on sounds doable to me right now. Are you following any eating plan?

20 more minutes of the legs dvd down. Still not totally confident in my form, I find it hard to concentrate on the motions and maintaining the correct posture at the same time... Is it ok to take it slow and rewind when necessary to try to do the moves accurately? I feel like I'm being choppy.. Hopefully I'll pick up the moves as time goes on. The pelvic scoop is challenging, I'm paranoid that I'm using my calves, and Callan fuels this by repeatedly warning against using them. I'm going to try to study 10/10 to try to get the hang of the hips/thigh section this evening.

I hope to see results in my lower legs from the upper knee down, do these moves target these areas effectively?

Hi Marian,

Don't worry! This is normal! Callanetics works by first lifting everything, then it pulls in. Just keep working and you will see amazing results. I think Sandra (who is a Callanetics teacher) described it as everything meeting in the middle before saying goodbye forever!

I know its long but its really worth reading this whole thread and the previous month's thread as there is some great info on this.

Hope that helps. Hang in there!

Hello! I have just ordered the super callanetics DVD and am really looking forward to starting it. Right now I have been doing the AM/PM for quite some time and I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what the difference is between the two, or any of the other ones and the "super" callanetics? Are they the same exercises but just held for longer periods of time??

Thanks!!

Leigh

What Kim said!

The thing about these monthly challenges, they're not just chatter and such. They're loaded with tips, instruction, pointers, encouragement regarding specific concerns, etc.

Take the time, everybody, to at least SKIM through the April and May challenge. I guarantee you will find answers to each of your questions, with assurances that you're on the right track and can expect great changes in your body with this workout.

Read, read, read. Knowledge is power....!

Leigh, when I began Callanetics, I did 60+hours of 10 Years Younger in 10 Hours before I moved on to Super Callanetics.

Super is far more advanced. They've added more exercises in various muscle groups, abs, legs, more stretching; and some of the exercises have been repeated, but with twice the reps. For instance, for the hips/thighs segment, you do six different segments, one for each leg, so twelve all together -- but multiply that times 100 reps per segment/leg.

Make sure you're no longer challenged with your current workout before moving on. You may feel overwhelmed with Super otherwise -- but that all depends on your current level of fitness.

Best to you.

Rachel, anxious to hear your feedback!

Nena, very pretty avatar, girl!

Hour 1 is done!

My goodness, my muscles are tight. I didn't realize just how much tension I was holding in my body until I got a really good but relaxed stretch in one of the poses. I actually got tears in my eyes from feeling so relaxed. I haven't felt like that for a very long time. I look forward to becoming more and more flexible as the summer progresses!!

I was only able to hold some of the poses for 1/4 or 1/3 of the time, but I have faith that I will continue to slowly progress.

I used to do the Lotte Berk DVD's and this reminds me of that quite a bit. I love the tiny delicate movements, and I know I am going to be sore tomorrow.

My cat had fun watching me. I was using a chair for my "barre" and she was sitting on the cushion and batting at me with her little paws, ha ha.

Question: can I do this every day? Or do I need to alternate it with something like walking?

I know there are some who have done it every day but like most exercises you should give your body a rest. Try it and if you find your too fatigued then do alternate days.

1 hr 10/10 completed.
