Oooh yummy!!!! Wow, Ben you have good taste your man is very yummy - I had to stop and pause at this one before proceeding ![]() Back to being professional - his technique is really good. However, I would encourage him to relax his arms more. If he softened them he would transfer this energy in to his abs to work them deeper. Another point, I can't see this properly but check that his legs are also relaxed and heels not pressing together. The legs should be parted and again lengthened up with sit bones lengthening down to floor. Lower back should be resting and melting on floor, no curling up. IF the heels press together this transfers in to the low back and creates tension so the legs must always be parted. He has such wonderful muscle definition but do check that he's not contracting his quads or legs in any form. Utilising the counterpull between the sit bone and heel creates isolation of the legs but no active contraction of leg muscle must occur. Also, get him in to position and pulsing then tell him to activate just 10% of his pelvic floor to feel the difference. Encourage him to lengthen out from the PF when he does this. ![]() Sandra x |

Yes, they do tighten under the chin and pretty quickly too in most cases. The neck down to shoulders change quite dramatically as the neck strengthens and the muscles through the neck and shoulders relax. A much more youthful look emerges. Your butt will become smaller and more shapely but shouldn't disappear. Keep a healthy weight and you'll be fine. Sandra x |

Yes, of course, whenever we challenge our bodies with something different it feels tough - at first. We all found them challenging. And, yes it's always okay to alternate your workouts. Have you ever tried just working with Evolution though to see what it can do for your body? When you use 10/10 don't forget to apply all the concepts that you learnt in Evolution. When I teach the traditional exercises I always teach them utilising the concepts - in fact the concepts are for consistent use in everyday life and not just for when you work out. When you get to the Evolution stomach just take more breathers. Don't forget always work at your own pace. It really is a good idea to incorporate them in to the Evolution workout until they become easier, and they will, then you can mix it up a bit for variety. You may need this challenge. Sandra x |

Do you have more exercises you can suggest for the double chin area?

A double chin can also form from shortening the muscles at the back of the neck; this in turn, weakens the muscles at the front. So, ensure that you don't keep your chin tipped up or jutt your head forward. Keeping the counterpull between the pelvic floor/sit bones and crown of head with the neck long, open and soft will help keep a defined jaw line and firm under chin. Also, keep your shoulder blades down to hips and wide, shoulders are beautifully relaxed. The whole Callanetics program is wholestic and works the entire body synergistically that's why it's important to incorporate all the exercises. ![]() Sandra x |

hi, sandra --
my husband and i are going on vacation to victoria, bc next week, and i've managed to get him to route it through portland, oregon so that i can get a class with judy mooser coming and going! in preparation for the classes, i've switched completely to evolution and am only doing it every other day. i've found that my driving hip, which i managed to screw up by repeatedly driving the 6 hours between san francisco and los angeles without stopping last year, has calmed way down. the stretches for the legs in 10 in 10, the wide V and the leg on the barre, were apparently aggravating it. evolution is actually helping it. ben: yummy. really very good and yummy. noreen: you've been so quiet! how is the training coming? are you going to portland this summer, too? |

Hi Everyone!
I'm new but not to Callanetics. I had the book when it first came out. The past year and a half I have added it back into my workout schedule. My only problem is I can't away away from traditional weight work. The results from weight work are not the look I'm after but the thought of letting it go frightens me for some reason. I have the Super Cal tape & let me tell you it's on it's last legs! I like the PF talk because I need some instruction after the way you guys explain it.. I'm missing something???

Lucky you seeing Judy - she's sooo gorgeous. Please give her a big hug and kiss for me ![]() We did have fun it was like living in a Big Brother house we all became so close and had lots of laughs. Yes, the stretches in Evolution are much gentler but still highly effective. Sandra x |

![]() Also, in the warmup when I'm hinging forward, i cannot keep my PF engaged like you mention. So I just engage it on the way up, is that ok? And while in plie position, I cannot engage it at all! I guess that will come with practice? I have taken your advise and use my PF to pull myself up in the "up and down" exercises. That's one my favorites. ![]() |

Another question with the hinging in Evolution warmups - it looks like the knee is straight, is that correct? I can't really do many exs with my leg straight, hammies are too tight
but I just want to make sure I'm aiming in the right direction. Thanks! ![]() ![]() |

Good Morning! I have a question - I just got TOM...I'm supposed to do my second hour of 10/10 today, but I'm worried the abs exercises might make cramps worse...anyone have wisdom to share about this?

It will actually help with cramps. It helps me so much during TOM to do the exercises.

I am so upset that I haven't been
able to keep up with this challenge. I have been having some problems with my right hip but nothing that painful until I went on vacation. I thought it would get better but it's getting worse. It's painful to sit, walk and lay down so I have an appointment with an orthopaedic dr. this afternoon. Noted to add that I already had a total knee replacement on my left knee and thanks to years of limping I pretty much messed up both knees, both hips and my back.
Back to callanetics...I am hoping that the dr. can fix this issue because I definitely was feeling great doing the 10 in 10 and I miss it so much. Sounds weird but it's so true. I felt great doing these exercises and loved how I felt the next day. Wish me luck! |

Finished 6 last night!
I will take pictures to share at 10 and at 20. I love this program. Even though my scale isn't going down, my body shape is changing. I am finally getting some curve in at my waistline. |
