"Walk Away the Pounds" Challenge...05/18/08

to the "Walk Away the Pounds" Challenge!

We are using Leslie Sansone's "Walk Away the Pounds" workouts...any of her workouts, that you want to use. If you have more than one
of her workouts, you can "mix and match" or you can use the same one, every time. The beauty of these workouts, is that there are "mile
markers" on each of the workouts, so you can do as many miles as you want. For example, you can choose one of the five-mile workouts,
but only do one mile of it. The next day, you can do the second mile, or do the first mile, over again.

These are the rules of the challenge:
  • Sunday, May 18'th, is Day #1
  • Start with 3.5 miles, per week
  • You can do your 3.5 miles, all in one day (if you want)
  • Or you can do a half mile, every day...however you choose
  • Post your mileage (and comments), no less than once a week
After the first week, we will increase the mileage, at the level the majority want to increase. So, when you post your mileage, be sure to tell
us whether or not you feel comfortable with a mileage increase, and if so...how much you want to increase it. You can find more information
on Leslie Sansone's Website. This following quote is from that site:

Quote:
Walking at home is a system of walking based moves that allow you to choose a 1, 2, 3, 4, 5... or more... MILES of walking... and you don't have to leave the area in front of your TV or computer! So convenient... you can walk anytime of the day... Just pop in one of our many DVD's... and WALK!

Walk at Home programs are available at "GENTLE" paces for those that are "NEW" to exercise OR... "POWER WALK" to my ADVANCED pace walks that move you as fast as 6 miles per hour... really, in some of our workouts we "walk" to speeds that are equivalent to a 10 minute mile!!!! Now that's really torching the calories... it's the best way to walk for weight loss!

And there's more... This is MULTI-MUSCLE walking... not what you do in a typical stroll around the block... we put ALL MUSCLES in MOTION and in many directions... the arms work the upper body, the core muscles fire to get that tummy area slim... the legs move in new directions for MAXIMUM MUSCLE ACTIVATION!

I would also like to join this challenge. Like lisabinil I have been alternating callanetics with WATP. I have the 3 mile walk and really like it. At the moment I don't finish the dvd, but walk at least 2 miles. This week I've done 4 miles.

Awesome! Lisabinil, I know you've seen the other thread. Glad you're joining us!

Lynelle, I think I covered everything, in this thread, but just in case I didn't, you might want to read this thread...and if you have any ideas, just let us know. Any "Walk Away the Pound"er's Out There?

I'm in for this!
I'm recuperating from back surgery so the only thing I CAN do now is walk.
I have the 1 mile easy walk and 2 mile brisk walk. I haven't done the video in a while. I think I should be able to hang with it.
I may do some days of regular outside walking though, as I do have a support system for that, if it is OK?
This will be good to have some more motivation.
Looking forward to getting to know you all!!

FYI, If anyone has Comcast or any other cable service that offers ON DEMAND, ExerciseTV comes free with the digital service. They have 5 WATP workouts available & as well as hundreds of others workouts! I absolutely love it!

Here is more info or to see if you have ExerciseTV: ExerciseTV - Online and Video on Demand for fitness, sport training and motivation.

Wow! I wish we had Exercise TV. We used to have Cox Digital, but Suddenlink bought them out, in this area, and I guess they don't have it.

Awesome! It never hurts, to get ready. Plus, you'll probably want to do other things, besides WATP.

I've started doing my 1/2 mile every day, just because I want to get used to doing SOMETHING, every day. I've got a Jazzercise Video coming in, and after that, I'll probably increase my WATP to a mile, on the days I do it. Then I'll do Jazzercise a couple of days a week.

We all know our weight, but has everyone measured? Today I measured my hips, waist, chest, and thighs. I wrote everything in an exercise journal, that I'm going to start keeping. I'm going to keep the daily workouts in the journal, and then at the end of each week, I'll measure again.

We don't have to post our measurements, but it would be nice to tell the total number of inches lost, at the end of each week. Walk Away the Pounds AND Inches.

I'll try to remember to get measuring tape (is that what it's called?!) when I go to Wally World tonight. Otherwise, I'll just be posting my Walk Away the Pounds lost

Yeah, they're still called tape measures. I had to buy one last week, at Wally World.

Oh thanks for that tip. I am going to look into that.

Challenge starts at midnight, tonight! DH and I are leaving, around 8:00 in the morning, to go to a graduation ceremony, out of town. I'll get up early and do my WATP. I can't wait to read about everyone's first day, when we get back, tomorrow evening.
