Hey Barb, is that your Macaw? I have 2 conures (one just celebrated 21 years with me on may 16. he was a wildcaught so I have no idea EXACTLY how old he is but the vet estimated him at being 2-3 years when I got him in 86). I have 3 parakeets and 6 cockatiels (2 are brothers that I raised from eggs and are handfed, I had the parents but they've since passed and 2 I handfed, and the brothers are about 5 yeears old, and i got the newest 2 last spring. Plus, i inherited DD's 2 cockatiels because her hubby would throw pillows at the cage when they'd start screaming at sunup). I also have 2 cats but they know that they're outnumbered by the birds. Guinie is too old to bother them and Merlin is 22 and a half pounds and too fat to bother them. haha

DH didn't get the treadmill fixed today but he did get the drivers side seat fixed. That was much more important than the treadmill!!! He's been working on stuff for work most of the day, so I didn't want to nag too much, but next weekend I will because i've been asking for 2 weeks now for him to fix it and next week will make it 3.

didn't exercise today cuz Mom and aunt were here most of the day. I will try to get some in tomorrow

Good Morning, everyone! We came home from camping, late last night. The rain and thunderstorms were so bad, we just couldn't stand it, another minute.

I'm so glad to see that everyone did so well, over the weekend. I lost 4-pounds, this week.

to the group, Rebecca130!

Yep. That's Morgan. She's a rescue. She was a pretty bad, foul mouthed bird when we got her in October She has come a long way. I have the scars for my diligence
I raised another Blue and Gold from just a few weeks old. But she only lived about a year. She was sickly with e-coli when I got her. That broke my heart. I had never bonded with a bird before that one. Hand feeding every couple of hours. It was crazy. Don't know why she died either. But it was sad.
So Morgan is one lucky bird now. And hardly ever says "Shut the **** up" anymore!
Wow! You have a houseful!!

Barbde: You have the worst luck with pets. I think it would be fun to have a foul mouthed bird. Why did you have to untrain her?

Melle: I have Leslie's "You Can Do Pilates". I liked it the two times I did it a year ago.

For all of those who were lucky to lose four pounds......they aren't lost because I've found them. My scale took a big jump up this past week. We've camped for the past three weekends and my food intake has been frightening. My June goal is to keep on walking and eat less.

My walking goal for June is 60 miles.

LOL Val. I did have a rough couple of years there. But we're back on track with Morgan and Diesel. He's 1 1/2 year old, 90 pound, pound puppy. Had him since he was 8 weeks. *Knocks on wood that all is well now*

The potty mouth bird. Well, she still has some words, but not the worst of them. There are kids around here sometimes. They went into shock LOL.

Yes, these are "in home" walking DVD's. Many of them are multiple miles, but there are "mile markers" on the workouts, and you can stop, whenever you want to stop. You don't even really have to wait for a "mile marker". I've figured out that 7.5 minutes is 1/2 mile...15 minute miles. So, I just figure how far I want to walk, and time it. I play the DVD's on the computer, so I can watch the time, on that little slide rule, at the bottom of the screen.

Here's her website, with all of her videos, and you can watch previews: The Official Walk At Home Store

I would check with my doc and see what he thinks. If you feel like you are overdoing it by all means cut back. Keep up the good work!

Great job everyone! I rarely do the WATP tapes since I go to the gym but once I start my new job and won't get to hit the gym during the middle of the day anymore, I'll start doing them again. It's way too hot to exercise outside now and will be for the next couple of months so videos it is!

Sassy - You should definitely check with your doc. I was going to say that I too get red faced and stay that way for a good hour (which is why I like to work out at home) and have all my life, BUT when you said that you have had heart problems and take meds then it may be something significant so definitely check with your doc as its not worth doing any more damage. Good Luck!

It sounded good, though...didn't it! I am convinced that the workouts are helping with the weight loss. I noticed that I lost the next day, when I had worked out the day before...but didn't lose, if I didn't workout.

SASSY: I think it would be fine to do the 1-mile, twice a day. IN FACT, I think it would be fine to do the 1-mile, only once a day. We're not running a race, here. We're doing as much as our body's will allow...nothing more. I am not pushing myself, and I don't think you should, either. There are others doing many more miles than I am doing, but I am doing more than I was, last week, and the week before that. That's what's important...exceed your own goal, not someone else's.

If I were you, this is what I'd do: Walk your 1-mile. Then the next day, walk your 1-mile and then just keep walking, for 5 more minutes. That would be .3 miles. Then, if everything seems okay, add 5 more minutes, the next day. If at any time, you start feeling "red in the face", stop walking.

Also, remember to not just "stop walking", and don't sit down, when you're finished. Kind of leisurely stroll around the house, and drink some water, until your heart rate goes down. Then, you can sit down. Doing it that way, is safer for your heart.
