Just finished another hour of Evolution. Sandra - thanks so much for the hints on the hip/behind exercises. They made a great difference! I'm sure I'm gonna feel it tomorrow...

When you engage the pelvic floor your inner thighs stretch automatically. The more you lengthen the leg out of the hip socket while keeping the counterpull between the sit bone and heel the more you'll feel the inner thighs stretching.

So if you want to eliminate any inner thigh jiggle using the PF is the key.

I find myself engaging the PF with most any exercise/workout I do now, not just Callanetics, and even while just walking about, etc., just subconsciously being aware of doing this.

It's amazing how contracting these muslces can be so effective!

Sandra, thank you for making us all aware of this important form tip and its effectiveness.

Incorporating the pelvic floor muscles changed everything for me also.

The CallaneticsConcepts are to be used in everyday life as well as exercise
(any method) so it's great that you are engaging at all times.

You may have noticed that you are walking lighter also and all your movements are freer. Engaging provides you with more room for movement and alignment.

No inch loss yet but hoping that will come in June if I keep up this work

6 hr. 10/10 done! I just got the 10/10 book from the library and on the legs segment (the foot then arch on bar stretches) it says "do not attempt these exercises if you have a tendency for siatica" Wow! I wish that had been on the tape! I was wondering why my back was acting up. I was thinking that these exercises would alleviate some of my back pain! I'm glad I saw that. I was thinking I would need to give up the exercises. I am loving the rest of them! There is also a segment in the book on how to do some of the exercises to help people with bad backs. I am kinda new to this so most of you may already know all this!!

Also, is there anywhere to get the DVDs without ordering online? Any bookstores?

Just wanted to mention and brag a bit on the effect that Callanetics has had on my flexibility.

This workout, strengthening/toning aside, is wonderful preventative medicine for our flexibility. Being flexible helps us with EVERYTHING we do in life, and that's vital for all ages, but esp as we grow older and naturally lose our flexibility.

Without Callanetics, I would be far more likely to sustain injury, to have annoying aches/pains, stiffness, etc. It's given me such FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT in everyday life.

This workout never ceases to amaze me.

Well, that sounds great! Cos I just did Evolution all the way thru, (before that I'd done bits of it twice and bits of SA Callanetics twice). There is some stuff on Evolution that is sooooo hard for me!!!! My PF has a long way to go! I'm sure it'll improve... At any rate I feel great afterwards.... though I can't do all of the ex properly....

(PS Sandrahanna, Byron/Northern Rivers area is one of my favourite places on the planet! If I get there later this year you'll be hearing from me )

My partner forced me to get off my butt and away from the TV to do an hour of 10/10. I didn't mind as I did force him to come and see the Sex And The City movie with me!! It was AMAZING!!! Go see it...NOW!!!!

Sex and the City & Cosmos. The movie was so good. There were parts that had me laughing out loud - really loud!

One hour of 10-in-10 minus the two leg exercises. I'm running in a 4 mile race tomorrow and my thighs feel "tired" on the hills if I do the leg exercises the night before. Today I realized I could just leave them out instead of skipping a workout (duh).

WOW....Seeing this thread makes me feel soooooo old! I bought the Callanetics book when it first came out. I don't even know when that was but I think it was more than 18 years ago!

I didn't see any results, not sure if it was me not doing them right or what. I was probably about 150 and looked in the mirror and saw what I am now.......354lbs!

Is there any way I can do this now? I know how hard it was then, is there any morbidly obese people doing this challenge?

Congrats on all the success!

I just wanted to second what Twyla said. Callanetics is so much more than losing inches and toning up. I'm 50 now and before beginning Callanetics in January I had a vague pain in my right hip for months. It wasn't bad enough to go to the doctor just annoying because I could feel it walking up stairs or even standing up sometimes. After a couple of months of Callanetics I noticed that the pain was less and less and finally gone. I did nothing else different. Also my flexibility has greatly improved. Before Callanetics I could barely get past my knees without the back of my legs hurting from the stretch, now the tips of fingers can touch the floor. This is a huge improvement for me. So for those that want to give up because they don't see immediate or almost immediate inch loss, please know that the exercises are beneficial in so many other ways too.
