So after lurking, and reading, and reading
most of your posts, I went on Amazon and orderd 10 in 10 and it should be arriving today. I am sooooo excited to start this.
Thank you all for being so motivated and for sharing pictures that make me hopeful that I can accomplish a body change. |

I've been lurking here, too. Wow, I know I had the original Callanetics book when it was first published, but without the video - I guess I lost interest.....I was surprised to see threads devoted to it. I just got the 10/10 and Beginning DVD's, but haven't started yet. I will definitely be starting this weekend, if not before. I'm simply amazed by the enthusiasm and dedication here. Very motivating.
Do any of you actually take Callanetics classes? |

Completed another hour of 10 in 10 , I took 3 days off while TOM was here and I know this may sound crazy but under this 294 pound body I can feel the muscles move already, when I hold my arms out the shape of my arm is changing, my legs are changing, Im not talking jane fonda here but i SEE a difference, even when I sit down I notice I am holding my stomach in and its almost like seciond nature, Im holding it in and not even realizing, this is really MAGIC!!!!!

2 more hours of 10 in 10 completed... (Mon and Wed)
Hopefully another hour tonight. My experimental exercises seem to be helping my back... I will be updating my blog this weekend... This past week has been insane. Trust me, you don't wanna know. LOL I am trying to do the kneeling hips and behind with bent knee, but struggling with the position (keeping balance and weight shifted correctly on contact leg and not twisting the upper torso while tilting pelvis and keeping lifted knee high enough to feel it.) Augh. Any help? Also, this is weird, but I notice I've become flexible enough during the stretches (side/waist stretch, some stomach positions, forward stretch, legs together) that I have to be careful to allow myself room to breathe, does this make sense? Like I'm squashing my diaphragm too much? Lil Dragonfly (and others) that have posted your results, can I have permission to add your success stories to my blog? Let me know. I'd love to collect results in one place. That would really motivate people! Suzan

Sorry to hear of your slow progress. I am in no way an expert so I'll tell you what I am doing and maybe it could help you. I have only been doing Callanetics for about 5 weeks and the first two weeks I tried to fit it into my regular routine of cardio and weights. I didn't feel much results. For the last 2 - 3 weeks I have changed my routine. I do Callanetics 3 - 4 times per week and strength train upper body 1 - 2 times per week. My cardio for the most part has only been walking lately. This routine is working much better for me and my clothes are fitting much better, more loose in the legs, hips, butt and waist. This is quite surprising to me because these are my stubborn areas. Also, I am 47 years old and results don't usually come this quickly to me. I think if I add more cardio I could see even more results. I have sleep apnea so I am often very tired and find intense cardio really diffucult to do. So for now I'll stick to what I am doing. I hope these are encouraging words for you. Cindy Quote:

Maybe my "peach" is lifting and that's causing the increase??I am disappointed that I am not getting dramatic results, but I am not ready to quit. First, it is only logical that if I workout, exercise, and do toning and strengthening exercises, I have to eventually lose weight and inches. Maybe not as quickly as I would have liked-but I have to believe that things will change (especially since I wasn't doing ANY exercise before). Second, its only been 4 weeks. I didn't get out of shape in 4 weeks, so it will take a while to get back in shape. Finally, I have to think that I am going through this, for a bigger reason than just me. Maybe down the road, after I have reached my goal, someone else will be discouraged and ready to quit and I will be able to share my story with them. Hang in there! ![]()

Hi, this is my first post here, my South African Callanetics DVDs just arrived, with Callanetics Evolution on the way, and I found this site while looking around for more info, wow, great to see so many into it, it's all new for me, though I've done some pilates and gyrotonics in the past (plus dabbled in different types of bodywork like Feldenkrais, rolfing, alexander technique, Franklin method, etc...). Anyway this stuff looks great. I may just lurk but if I have questions or something to say I'll join in...Now - so much reading to do up here! What a diamond mine of info! |

Hour 16 completed last night. Today I put on a pair of jeans straight out of the drier and noticed that they were very baggy in the waist, to the point I could stick my hand down my pants. Yesterday, my dress pants felt funny and it was because the 'bulge' (for lack of a better word) just above the tailbone was nearly gone! I also noticed last night that I had more strength to sit up straighter when doing the hips & behind exercises. They are still the hardest for me, though.
And Twyla, I can't thank you enough for the modification for the sitting on your heels thigh stretch (you suggested laying on your side and pulling leg back to feel the stretch) because it has worked wonders. Also noticed last night that I could sit on my heels to do the "hip/pelvis/hip/behind" exercise. I really, really want to keep going with this. There's muscle under the fat, I just know it!
