I was floored to see that the scales had not changed at all. I weigh as much as ever!!!!!!

I have eaten super clean and Callan no less than 3 hours a week. I am freaking out here!
When you replace fat with muscle, your body is taking on new composition. You will measure smaller, look smaller, feel smaller, and body fat calipers will PROVE that you've lost inches and body fat. It's completely normal to see no change whatsoever on the scale.

I encourage everyone to invest in some body fat calipers. I ordered mine when I first began BFFM in May of 2006. They're Accumeasure Body Fat Calipers, digital.

When I weighed less than I do now back in June of 2006, my body fat was at 23%.

I'm now at 20% body fat, and I weigh more now than I did then.

Body composition -- the way we look, the amount of lean body mass we have -- is far more important than a meaningless number on a scale that can't tell the difference between muscle and fat.

KWIM?

(Good visual, Marsha!)

Buy some calipers.

Rejoice in your progress.

Twyla - Thanks!! Like I said, I had only been measuring and making note of my clothing and avoiding the silly scales, but I could not help but freak when I saw that number pop up at the hospital. I started not to even look, but I so knew it would be lower, so I did. Thank you again! I will make an investment!

Lil - You are right! Throw the things away and never produce another one of those monsters!!!!

I was going to invest in some of these but I didnt think they were accurate. I never understood how it could tell your body fat percentage by just measuring the side of you stomach. Right above the hip bone I think. Or do you measure your thighs, arms etc as well? I might get one of these. They are very inexpensive

Got in the whole 10/10 last night but have to admit doing it 2 days in a row I am a bit sore this morning. Other half's mother and grandmother coming into town tonight for 4 days so I will make time to do Callanetics for the pure relaxation alone. If I never loose an inch, I will continue to do Callanetics for this reason...I love it!

I just completed my first hour of 10/10 and all I have to say is OMG! This is awesome! I was able to do all my counts, the only problem I had was that my neck was hurting but that is suppose to stop after the first couple of times. Also, I had problem lifting myself up off the floor when doing one of the stomach exercise, that's the same exercise where my neck was hurting. Overall, I love it! I feel the burn in my buns, arms, and stomach. Looking forward to tomorrow

I was thinking that, but didn't know how to do it logistically. I'm still a little confused, today I just started up where I left off this morning. Next time I'll try to go back and do the warm ups.

Color me dense, but if the DVD is doing 100 reps and such, won't it still be an hour long waiting for them to go through all the exercises even if I only do 50 reps? I mean the DVD program is an hour, from start to finish, even if I don't do as many as they do, right?

Maybe I'm just not understanding! (All those grey cells died with the chemo ya know! )

Thanks Twyla!

A tip for ya; you can combine your own program if you have lack of time, still doing a 100 reps or 75 if you want but not doing all the excersies every time you do Callanetics. For instance you can have 2 programs that you alternate. Like in program 1 you can have 2 stomach, 2 legexcersies, pelvic dip and warm ups and stretches. And next day you can do the other 2 stomach, hip and thigh, pelvic rotations and open and close and warm up and stretches.
Just to make it easier if you have lack of time or energy.

The warm up has more beat to it and following this is more slower relaxing music for the next 40 minutes. The last 15 minutes progressively gets slower, softer and more relaxing.

You'll find heaps on iTunes but if you have a library you should find some goodies there also.

I put my experimental moves up (or at least the pix) I'll fill in the descriptions tomorrow hopefully.

Also, if you have favorite Callanetics sites or other blogs, post the links or PM me and I'll add a sidebar for that.

I'd also be willing to host/post photos of positions and critiques. I think blogger has a way to grant posting access, too, let me check that out.

This is a great idea!!
IŽll definately try out your experimental moves

1 hour 10 in 10 done tonight.

I continued to push on the stomach exercises with advanced positions on #2 and #3. Had a much harder time on the left side on #2 in the advanced position than the right... Had to switch off every 10 pulses.

I also tried Hips and Behind #1 from the kneeling position, trying to emulate the book ( I guess that makes it #3, eh?) I did an ok job of it, I think, hard to get my balance correctly so that I was focusing on the leg in the air.

Added my experimental stuff for the upper back at the end again. I think I smoothed out some kinks... har har. Going to post instruction to my blog...NOW!

Thanks Mountaingirl!
Always nice with compliments!
What I did to make it even easier was writing all the exercises down on paper and then combine it in a way that suited me. For instance, I have a hard time doing the pelvic ones so I only did them every second session, and then only 3 reps. Or if you want to target one area more you do more of those exercises, this is a bit like Callanetics countdown, where you start with 30(?) reps and then gradually build your way up during 30 days.
I think somewhere in the March or April thread all the excercises of 10/10 are written out.
Good luck!
And please, donŽt call yourself dense, youŽre just quite new with this and want to get it right, right!?!
