Guess what I'm doing on October 5, 2008...

... running my first marathon (26.2 miles) to help eradicate blood cancers.

I hope I'm not breaking any posting rules here. If so, I apologize.

I'm currently part of the Team In Training for the Peak Performance Marathon. This event will held in Portland, Maine on October 5, 2008.

Team In Training is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s largest fund-raising program. Each participant pledges to raise a certain amount of money during the five month training program for their event. I have set a personal goal to raise at least $2,100 for my marathon.

While the money that I will raise for research is fulfilling, the most important and inspirational part of my training is knowing that my hard work could make a difference in the life of my Honored Hero, Jaidan Richardson, a three-year-old boy who has undergone treatment for acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) since he was 18 months old. Jaidan is not much younger than my son, Allan. I don’t know what I would do if Allan was ever diagnosed with blood cancer and I can’t even begin to imagine what Jaidan’s parents are going through…

I invite you to join me on my journey of 26.2 miles and $2,100 by making a donation to my campaign. I have a web site that you can visit to follow my fund raising progress, as well as my running progress. No amount is too small and all contributions are tax-deductible. Please make contributions by August 31, 2008.

Please sponsor me at: My Fundraising Page

You can read a note from Jaidan’s mom at: Honored Teammate

Thank you and best regards,

Paul

P.S.: Even if you can’t make a financial donation at this time, I hope you will visit my page periodically to follow my progress and share in the journey!
