Help me start walking
I lost 85 pounds since Late Feb.2007. I need to lose more. I want to start walking. Can someone suggest some music to listen to for motivation and to keep me going? I never listened to music before but think it will help me to relax and do my exercise. Are there any cds or tapes out there to use that help? Thanks

I've used the Kim Alexis CD's before, but not recently. I had Praise Walk and Victory Chant. I liked the first one because it was upbeat and encouraging music. And you could do a 30 or 60 minute walk. So after so many tracks, she would tell you, "If you are only walking 30 minutes today, skip to track 12."
Recently, I have been listening to podcasts of different things I am interested in listening to... I am a podcast junkie. This week, I was determined to listen to the c25k podcasts, but I need something a little less stressful to start out. I found 1 mile in 4 weeks. I did the first day today. It was pretty good. When I finished the 20 minutes, I just switched over to a podcast series I am listening to and finished out 20 more minutes just walking. I worked!! Everyone has a podcast these days... Redbook, YOU on a diet, probably even Oprah!! I am studying to get a degree in religion and philosophy so I listen to a lot of podcasts in that area... Podcasts are cool! Hope this helps and good luck!

I am a techno--geek. How do you get a pod cast? Plus I don't have an Ipod.
Help. |

do you have a teenager?? LOL
I don't have an ipod either. I do have an mp3 player... a pretty simple, low cost one. I usually subscribe to podcasts on iTunes. You can download iTunes onto your computer and then do searches through the store. There is a lot of free stuff and some that you have to pay for. If I find something on iTunes that I have to pay for, I usually look also at Walmart.com and Amazon.com. Sometimes I can find it there, much cheaper. As far as getting stuff onto your mp3 player, that depends on the mp3 player. |

Joy has the right idea. Don't need a name brand ipod. Go to target (or similar) and get a fairly cheap mp3 player.
Next, download a free program for "ripping" CDs to mp3 format. Let me know if you need help in this area. Find a friend or online friends (hint, hint) who would be willing to share CDs. Start ripping and transferring to your player. Pretty soon, you'll have more music than time to walk! -Paul |
