apple looking to reduce fat

Hey folks. I'm trying to lose weight for several reasons and i need to restart my exercise program. I used to run and swim but i think i need to change it up a bit to get the best out of the program. I am going to start running again-which will help-but i need to find something to assist with the reducing of my stomach. i am a total apple so my weight is concentrated on between my neck and my lower abs. my legs are pretty ok. any thoughts or suggestions?

Pilates? I think that works on core muscles. Might help accentuate a waistline and give you the emphasis that you want on your middle. Go for it!

I'm a short apple, so I understand the challenge of reducing the midsection!

I found that diet is the most important... I think your stats say you eat low carb which is great... I also try to drink mostly water and tea which prevents bloating.

For exercise, I run and walk for my cardio. I gotta vary my routine... one day I will run/walk, next day walk fast, next day walk hills, etc. For toning, I have found that isometric exercises like Callanetics give me great results combined with the cardio. I have lost about 4 inches in my midsection since starting these workouts!

I second that! I use pilates, and I'm like an apple/hourglass. I have a bit more of a defined waist than a classic apple, but definitely not as defined as an hourglass . lol Oh, and I lack the boobs that an apple would have, (sarcasm begin) which is just fantastic. (sarcasm end)

Anyway, the first time I did me pilates a few years ago, OMG, me body looked like I could be a bathing suit model... well not quite that good, but you get the idea. I gained ~20 pounds, and now I'm doing pilates again. This time, it is making me look bigger, but I think that is because I'm not losing fat as quickly as I'm building muscle, so in the short term, I'm looking bulkier.

But anyway, now that I've dragged on for like 20 minutes, let me get to me point: YES, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND PILATES!!!!!!! Good luck! Please do let us know what you choose and how it works for you. I would love to try something meself that works for a fellow apple!

Pilates if you're into fluid type of activities, but I much prefer a hard core abs class to pilates anyday.

To reduce bodyfat you really need to boost muscle. cardio only goes so far.

Callanetics and HIIT on the elliptical are perfect for you!
