I'm still quite a bit overweight so extra adipose tissue and limited flexibility are also an issue.

Thanks so much for your willingness to help!

Have you tried taking a very thick blanket or towel folded many times, and kneeling on this as you're doing those segments?

If you're experiencing pain while doing any of the segments, you're pushing too much too soon. As for the thigh stretch, for now, lie on your side, resting on your elbow, and bend top knee backward, reaching to hold the ankle/foot of that top leg, and gently stretch that thigh out as you pulse, holding onto the foot or ankle, if that makes sense. This position is a little kinder to our joints than the one in 10 in 10, until you become a bit more flexible.

Hang on.....one of our teachers will respond more professionally.
Twyla - Yes I use a folded towel under my knees but I'm still not able to lean all the way back and put my hands on the floor behind me for the thigh stretch... so your idea of doing it on my side might just work!

Thanks!

This thread is on fiyah!

I did 10/10 today and then I did 30 minutes on the elliptical. I am counting today as Day 1 since I took a long (unwanted) hiatus. It does feel so good to do Callan. I don't know how this is possible, but after I am finished I feel relaxed and energized at the same time!

WatchMe - I was out of Callan for about 2 weeks. Is today's workout hour 1 or is it hour 22? I am not sure if I have to start over now or not.

I have a question for you or anyone else. You know, as some of us lose weight and after having several kids some of us have a problem with loose skin and stretch marks in abs area. I know i do, do callan helps to tighten loose skin? I have tried to tighten my with, dry brushing, soaking in dead sea salt and taking alfalfa tablets. I have notice a difference, but i still have a long way to go. Do you know of anyone who had alot of loose skin on their gut and was able to tighten it with callan?

Thanks, Mev
Unfortunately skin does not tighten after being severely stretched-I am in the same boat. It all depends upon genetics, how many children you have had, if and how long you were obese etc. But building the underlying muscle up underneath the skin and getting rid of as much fat as possible will help. I would luv to have a tummy tuck someday!

If I had a dollar for every time I've read this comment on Callan boards over the years, I could probably retire at this very moment.

ADLMA -- I say don't start over on your counter. It hasn't been that long. You put in the time, you get credit for it!

I could be wrong but you can try and bend your knees and keep them relaxed, don't force yourself. I have very tight hamstring, once i start my training i followed the 10/10 program to a T, didn't skip over any of the exercises. I noticed that very quickly i was able to straighten more and more each time. Also don't point your foot to the side, try and gently bring it to the other knee(pointing it towards the other knee) and bend it gently.
One of the great, amazing benefits of Callanetics is that you will become flexable very, very quickly.
Oh, just for the record, i speaking here more of my OWN personal experince and some training
I'm quite sure my idol Sandra Hanna will be able to help you.

I confess, I did not even eat clean during those two weeks either! I can not believe this! OK - CALLAN ROCKS!!

I use a step stool in place of the bar for many of the exercises.

I went to the class last night - only two other gals - one said she dropped 3 pants sizes after 12 sessions ( she was young, thin, does not need to lose weight ). The other gal said she has osteoporosis ( which i have ) and a bad back ( my guess is about 40 yrs. ) She said her back pain is vanished and her osteo stats are now positive, she attrubutes this to yoga and callanetics. These gals and the instructor looked fantastic ! I had alot of form repositioning, I don't think ive been doing the exercises properly. I was no where close to what these other gals could do but everything was modified. I am so happy to have found this class. It was worth the time, drive, and gas. I am hoping these help with my back, osteo, and of course my curves. I am thinking I will need additional exercises for underarm flab and some form of cardio for weight loss.

Hi Tylar_Connar and
Both yes and no, unfortunately...
On the pro side; I feel a lot more flexible, energetic, stronger and my contours are actually smoother: the bulging pillows of fat on the back of my hips has melted away. I have better posture and the pain in my back and rest of my body have diminished. I sleep better. When I feel my waist I can feel hard muscles beneath that I didnīt have before. All this are wounderful results , BUT....

- I havent lost ANY inches at all!!
I have done 19 sessions now in about 5 weeks and I feel really disappointed by this. I wanna be slim for summer! Like I said in the March thread, 10 years ago I lost 2 dress sizes in 12 sessions, but now when Iīm in my 40īs it doesnt seem to work like it did before. (on me)

Does anyone else have this problem or is it just me??
Any advice would be most welcome. I wanna keep doing it because I know it has to work eventually but how long do I have to wait???

Wow 3 Pants sizes. Lucky her. I did 13 sessions and have not dropped one size yet. I see results in the upper body and waist/stomach but not really on the thighs. I hope its soon to come. I feel stronger its just not showing yet. I wish there were classes where I stay so I could get help on my form

Hi fellow Callan fans.

I've been absent from the board for almost a year now, and haven't done callanetics consistently since then. I'm back on the wagon now! I did my first hour last night and boy and am I sore today! I'm so happy to have Anges here now so I can ask a question!

Last night during my legs exercises, I tightened my behind, lifted my pelvis and during the exercises I started feeling it in my hamstring. Is that normal? Is there a modification I need to make to not have that happen? I don't recall that happening last year, so I can't help but wonder if I was stronger last year.

Anyway, I'll be posting my hours this month. Thanks for everyone's motivation!

Thanks lisa, have you tried dry brushing? Some say it will tighten loose skin, i have been doing it for about a couple of months now. They say it take 6 month to a year to see real results. Girl, you look so good. Do you honestly think you need one? I can't afford a tummy tuck, maybe callan will help. How much weight have you lost total?

Have you tried to add any cardio into your routine? I find that when my stomach gets fat I add in some cardio and the inches drop off again. I found the most effective thing for me was walking uphill on the treadmill for 30 mins. You could try CardioCallanetics as it's gentle on your joints and gets your heartbeat to the perfect level for fat burning. Mix that in with your normal Callanetics and I guarantee you will see the inches disappearing.
