I've been secretly reading this Callanetics forum
and your posts convinced me to try it. Unfortunately I didn't take any before pics but after doing 7 hours of 10/10, a pair of pants that i couldn't button last week, I can button them! I was really excited. I mean last week, it was so bad that I almost had to safety pin the pants closed-now it is still snug but buttons with no problems or struggling at all. No dramatic movement on the scale, but nonetheless I am excited!!![]() |

Hey guys!
I've not been posting because I'm struggling. I don't want to bring the positive feel of the thread down, but I really need to ask for help now.I deal with some chronic physical limitations, but I have been able to do 10/10 (sometimes 1/2, sometimes the whole hour) at least twice a week. Then, I was involved in some physical activities here getting ready for Passover and I was on my feet everyday and just exhausted. So, I didn't do Callanetics for over a week. I am still in a flare-up and have very little energy in my muscles and still in a fair amount of pain, but I want so badly to do the Callanetics. I only have the 10/10 DVD - no book, no Evolution, or quickie or mini workouts. No beginner workout. Would one of those be better for me? Can ANYONE please help me with some ideas of what to do during this flare up so I won't lose what ground I've gained and so I can still do some Callanetics? Please help? ![]()

![]() I'm not an exercise expert, but you and I both know (only all too well) when/why it's important to really listen to our bodies. So I vote that you get some rest until the flare-up & pain pass. If you feel that you want to do some kind of exercise, maybe some very light yoga? Also, The Lebed Method would be a good alternative for you during those times when you just don't have the strength for Callanetics: ![]() XO, HB

Hi Mountain Girl
I don't know what your physical limitations or flare ups are about, but I'll tell you that I have both 10 in 10 dvd and Evolution dvd. (I don't have beginner callanetics, but maybe that is a great place to start). I find Evolution to be less taxing on my body, and I like that there are 3 levels demonstrated for each exercise. I still feel like it's a great workout for me, but I do need the beginner positions still for certain exercises. |

Mountain Girl,
I think Beginning Callenetics would be a good choice or any of the Quick Callenetics tapes also, as they are only 20 minutes or so. Get to feeling better, soon. |

HI board -- I am new and would like to join in -- I am 36 and I have known about Callantics for about 18 years, but just now got committed to doing it. I have just completed my 5th hour of the 10/10 program. I am not dieting at the same time - but - I do have a routine -- M-W-F is Callanetics T and Th I do the elipitcal - I am overweight, about 190 -- This is my 2nd week -- started last W -- and am def out of shape. I can do the whole tape all the way through, but the eliptical is killing me after about 8 mins I am done. Should I convert to a low carb diet? I am an RN and know that lots of sugar and white flour are not good for me...suggestions? encouragements? pictures? Anyone?? Nice to meet you all! I look forward to getting fit!!!

Hi Everyone!
I'm so glad I found this site. I have been a Callanetics fan since the book came out. recently I have been hitting it hard, w/ iballets if you are familiar w/ them. After reading about the PF here, I feel I'm not really doing it correctly. Hopefully I'll catch on after rereading the descriptions.
On another note. My Super Call tape is on it's last legs so I have been just doing the hip & ab sections. The leg portion stops & then starts rewinding on it's own. My question is Do you all think that the figure eights, pelvic rotations, scopps etc. are neccesary. I haven't done them in ages & am wondering if by not doing them I'm not getting the full benefit. Thanks all. I hope to learn alot here!! |

Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, it's a callanetics forum!! I am so psyched!
I felt like I was the only person in the world that ever heard about it! ![]() I am coming out of a pregnant no-exercise year and my pelvic floor is shot. I did 10-10 in my early twens and boy did it work! ![]() So I picked it up again and FINALLY fit back in my jeans. Also ordered Supercallanetics, just to have something to work towards to. Questions, though, many many. 1 This makes my lower back hurt, especially, I think, the side stretch- I have started to not put my other hand on my hip, but on a barre (more like bar stool) for more support. Is that okay? I am doing something wrong, but I can't figure it out. 2. My belly doesn't get flatter- just the rest tones up nicely. 3. I whiz through the leg exercises, so to speak, but cannot hold them straight up when doing the abs?? Is this a muscle or a stretch-thing? So locking forward to joinig you! ![]() |
