Noreen, the hip/thigh exercises in 10/10 did the same thing. Lift and shape thigh/behind. Do you feel that the extra exercises in Super work different parts of the hip/thigh? I know these exercises are really powerful which is why I'm sooooo confused that there are soooo many.

Now the stomach I understand because there are different parts of the stomach that is worked. And we can often feel just which part of the stomach is being worked.

TC, I hung onto the back of a kitchen chair but a sofa arm would probably be much better as I was worried about the chair flipping over on me.

The Open & Close exercise is killer. I was only able to do 2 sets of 5.

I was able to do most (not all) of the reps in each of the exercises except the Open & Close and I skipped some of the hip & thigh exercises. I’m sure my form wasn’t great as it was the 1st time through these exercises.

I loved the new stomach exercises, as this is my trouble spot.

What I did love about Super was hearing all the extra little tips on the same exercises that are done in 10/10.
I agree, there are sooo many hip and thigh exercises although personally I appreciate it because I need to concentrate on that area in addition to my pudgy stomach. I don't have to rest during 10/10 but had to take breathers during the Super hip and thigh exercises where you're kneeling and pulsing the bent leg and straight leg. I basically could do all of the other exercises except could NOT do the reverse sit-up (putting hands behind head and s-l-o-w-l-y going down one vertebra at a time and then going back up). That is IMPOSSIBLE.

As far as what each exercise specially targets, I highly recommend the Callanetics 10/10 book. Most if not all of the 10/10 and Super exercises are discussed in the book along with pics.

To answer TC regarding the open and close, I put my folded exercise mat under my treadmill to sit on so I could reach up to the bars on my treadmill. It was still hard as heck but nice to have something sturdy to hold on to. I did about 3 sets of 5. But my legs were not very high.

If I may be so bold as to add another pre-Super recommendation: master the moves in Evolution. Because there are some moves in Evolution that are not in 10/10 but are in Super.

Hoping to do my second Super session tonight...

Snuckles,
I'm 110% sure that the hips & behind work different muscles in the hips & Behind, also don't forgot that Super C is more intense then 10/10. Myself & Twlya, Sandra & Ben are living proof how effective Super C is. I remember when i 1st started Super C last year, it was waaaay too intense
for me, then i went back to 10/10. Now in my training i've blown through 10/10 and moved very easily to Super C. Personally i've found PF work has made a huge difference and it works my muscles very deeply and very effectively.

I hope everyone realizes that Super C is nothing to sneeze at. That's why it's emphasized over and over and over and over on this challenge:

Wait until you're ready.
Master 10 in 10 first.
Form needs to be pretty much perfect in 10 in 10,
and completing all reps no longer a challenge.

These are all signs that your body is ready for Super C.

Ditto That.

Just done another hour of Super Callanetics. My partner did the stomach part with me. He loves those exercises. But trying to do the one where you curl back up from the floor is impossible for both of us!

The Hip and Behind ones in Super Callanetics all work slightly differently. I still find the one on your knees with straight leg to the side really hard. That's the one that works the deepest. If you get your form right then it's a real killer! You have to listen really carefully to what Callan is saying during the Hip and Behind exercises. When you get the form right you will feel the differences and see dramatic results.

Okay, thanks. I'm going to pull out my book when I get home to see if she discuss the areas that these exercises hit. I don't recall this being in the book, but I'll take another lookie-see.

Snuckles,
I just whipped upstairs and checked in my 10/10 book, no Callan does not discuss which areas/muscles the advanced hips & behind target.

Oh I never thought of doing that one. I'm gonna dig out the DVD tonight. I forgot they had the mini-workouts DVD.

just finished hour 7 of 10 in 10 and boy its getting harder! I couldnt do all the stomach reps and then when i was doing the hip and behind exercises with my leg out straight my muscles were shaking when i was just half way through and i can normally complete the set.

So hope some1 can help me, were my muscles shaking because they were being worked deeper? i checked my form and it was fine and i done the tape when i woke up so i wasnt tired so its the only thing i can think of

With Callanetics you find that one day the exercises seem easy and the next day they seem impossible. It's normal so don't worry. As your form naturally improves you will find the muscles will be working deeper too. It's all good

Do you have the CallaneticsEvolution DVD?? The first ab exercise on there is great for beginners and is the perfect way to learn how to control and isolate your abs.

Without actually seeing you do the exercise it's hard to give advice. When my sister was struggling to do the stomach exercises she would do them without letting go of her inner thighs. Does that make sense? You grip onto your inner thighs and then round your torso up. Aim your nose into your torso. Then you would usually let go and place your arms by your side. Instead of doing that just loosen your grip slightly and do the pulses while still holding on. Don't tighten your behind and really concentrate on relaxing your back.

On the new CallaneticsEvolution DVD they show how you can place a firm cushion under your mid-back to help you keep rounded up. Maybe you could try that too. Our resident Callanetics teacher, Sandra, is away at the moment but when she gets back she will have some great advice for you.

hmmmm...it sounds like you might be trying to lift up with your back. Maybe you are trying to raise your torso too high off the floor??? You only need to bring your upper back off the floor. Your mid and lower back can stay relaxed and in contact with the floor. You could try bending your knees more and bringing your feet closer to your butt. I'm lying on the floor here trying to figure out what you might be doing. When Noreen comes back online she might have some good advice for you.

Mev,

Thanks for the info on the back fat. I think I am doing the right things to combat it.

LowCarbLuLu

I've heard that before and understand that the right bra can make a huge difference, however, I think my back fat has more to do with the 40 lbs I've gained since quitting smoking than my bra, unfortunately!!

Completed 14th hour of 10/10 last night, had to give it a rest tonight, I've somehow strained the muscles on the bottom of my left foot. My doctor wants me try do
