Noreen,
No matter what size your waist, you still look great. Whalefrozentoes, You are so right. I'm just hoping to get to a size where I feel good and don't wiggle and jiggle. One thing I have found is that the more expensive clothes are, the smaller size I can wear. So in Hollywood designer sizes, I am probably a size 4 and will disappear within the next year after doing Callanetics.Connie |

One hour of Evolution done, even though TOM is here. I even did the stomach exercises, although the last one with the wide legs was impossible for me today, even with a pillow behind my back. Well, I did what I could do and did the rest well!
I'm also feeling like my body is building well, but is covered under a too large layer of fat to really see results! I've done 14 hours and yesterday, finally, one pair of my pants are loose. The rest of them seem to fit fine, unfortunately. But, I feel my thigh muscles strengthening and imagine they are lengthening and toning, I just can't see them yet. I'm hoping that if I lose the fat while building up the muscle, it will meet somewhere, sometime, and I'll finally look good!

I love reading this thread, even if I'm not posting. I had to take a bit of time off due to a CFIDS flare up and increased pain. I'm resting today, so I'm hoping to do an hour of 10/10 tomorrow, but as was suggested by Sandra, I'm going to split it up - half in the morning and half in the afternoon. I can handle it better that way.

I finally got my partner to do CallaneticsEvolution with me! We were climbing over each other to try and find space in our little apartment but we managed ok. He LOVED IT!!!! He really felt it working...especially the butt! It was interesting for me to see how another guy deals with the exercises. He found the stomach one with the legs in a 'V' impossible! I felt very proud, happilly doing my pulses while he was holding onto to his thighs for dear life just to stay up. He loved the stretches as he's always complaining about feeling tight after the gym. I think I've converted him!

So, my partner asked to do Quick Callanetics for the Stomach too! We just did it and he found it so difficult!
When we got to the Open And Close he could hardly get his legs off the floor![]() It was so funny because he kept laughing at the things Callan was saying. Like being a ragdoll etc And then at the end where she is sitting there talking to the camera he said she looked like she was drunk and falling over sideways. I was most offended until I looked closely and she is starting to fall over![]() And we had it on our surround sound system and I never realised how dramatic the music is! ![]() But on a serious note, he loves Callanetics now and realises how much strength you need to do it. He's promised to do it every other day now. |

Back Fat Hint
I remember reading somewhere that many women who complain they have back fat actually are wearing the wrong size bra. If the band doesn't fit properly, you will get bulges (i.e. back fat).
So it may pay to go get a fitting and see if maybe your back fat will magically disappear. OK, back to Callanetics ![]() |

"The waist exercises with the legs in wide format is great for isolating the obliques and stretching right up through the underarm. Don't forget to turn the palm out and up so it faces the ceiling. Try to master the advanced postion with the elbow resting on mid leg and legs bent deeply (take breathers if you need to). And, very important, check that you don't allow the hip on the stretched side rise up, keep the hip relaxed down and even with the other side. Don't forget you are stretching 'out of the pelvic floor' so don't allow the pelvic floor to rise up with your stretch. This applies to all of the exercises of course. So, you can do this exercise a couple of extra times a day if you wish. The other exercise which is great to stretch right up from hip to underarm is the stretch in Evolution just before the hip and behind exercises. Sitting with one leg bent in front and the other is stretched out to the side. You stretch up rotate towards the bent leg then stretch over the straight leg. As you hold this position make sure that your sit bones stay on floor (again you need to stretch out of PF to create the tautness through the muscles you are stretching). If you want to intensify this stretch gently take the shoulder of the raised arm back slightly the other shoulder will move forward a little and this creates a deeper stretch. I hope this makes sense but it probably will when you view the exercise." Sandrax What i have been doing is, after i do my hr. i do this exercise two to three times more throughout the day along with the waist exercise on evolution where you are seated and you are waving your hands up and down then you wave them to the back on each side. You can really feel it pulling on your back, abs and the obliques. I hope i help you. I think i might add what Tywla told you to do, i know that will target that fat also. As with you i hate that fat on my back, if i wear a shirt that is form fitting you can definitely see it through my clothes. I would do almost anything to get rid of it. Really to be honest my whole mid section has alot of fat starting from the stomach all the way round to the back. But since i have been doing those extra moves i have notice that my obliques has went down a little , so i know that i'm on the right track.Mev |

Ok, for the stomach exercises........ how can I stretch my back muscles out more, because my shoulder blades will not come up off the floor. Is this part of building up my core strength, or is it actually a tightness in my back/shoulders? I did break my collar bone about 15yrs ago... and haven't regained the proper strength on my left side... could that be the cause of tightness? I just can't believe how high the pink suited ladys' back is from the ground... that, on top of raising her leg off the floor... I can curl my back while I'm holding onto my upright leg, and stretching out with my elbows - but the second I let go.... flump. my shoulders are off the ground, but shoulder blades are touching. |
