squeezing bum cheeks
Quote:
Hi, It's the base of the behind that you want to tighten. So, if you've been contracting your buttocks just try to relax the upper part of the behind. The tightening the base of the behind ensures that you have engaged the inner most layer of the pelvic floor. Don't worry if you find it difficult to maintain this at first as your pelvic floor becomes stronger you'll find it easier. If the base of the behind relaxes just tighten it again. If you can't feel this tightening after a while (which can happen when your muscles start to tire) just 'THINK IT'. Think 'IT' and 'IT' will happen. So, always think of engaging the pelvic floor as 'Squeezing the muscles at the base of the behind'. It may help to think of this movement as a drawing in of a purse string. I hope this helps Sandrax |

1 more hour of 10-in-10 completed, for a total of 4 hours.
I received my 10-in-10 book today and leafed through it before the exercise. Being able to read over all the posture tips is great! I think this will help me even more, once I read it more thoroughly. |

Finished my 21st hr and am I beat-I haven't done Callan in a week. Never again-I have stiffened up considerably. So the key for me with my Fibromyalgia is continuity of every other day. I feel exhausted, stiff and couldn't do all reps.
So my goal for this week is alternating Callan with WATP-Walk Away Your Waistline. |

re saddlebags
Hi Sandrahanna
Thanks for your answer about saddlebags - I guess I was wanting to know because 5 months of 10in10 has not seemed to effect my saddlebags. (neither did 2.5 yrs of t-tapp, with all of the pelvis tucking and butt tightening). So I am now working with the future-gym material/Pip Coory. And really working on activating very specifically the pelvic floor. I hope like hell it will make the difference for me.... I am just a bit burnt out from all the years of expending all my energy trying different things to eliminate saddlebags. regards nola |

Hey!
I just did my first hour! And....Boy, was it hard! in the leg exercises I couldn't get my leg off the floor! The pelvic scoop was darned near impossible and I could barely do any reps of the stomach exercises. I LOVED IT!! SOOO relaxing...although it made my muscles hurt (in a good way) I can't wait to do it again I think my form was pretty good for most of them, the reps were the hardest part for most of them.xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxox |

Thank you Twyla. I'm so glad I read this. This is exactly what happened with me. So its good to know that I am still making progress even if I don't have tremendous DOMS the following day.

1 hour of 10/10 completed. I had to take breathers, but was able to do 40 each of the stomach exercises. Almost half way there.

I have a knee related question..... I'm not sure if my knees have always done this, or if it's because I'm more aware of my body now, but they click if I squat/bend down. I know this is caused by weakness - but my legs are the strongest part of my body... so that is surprising to me. It sounds like it should hurt.......but it doesn't - just the sound.... hurts my ears, lol!!!
Anyway, now when I'm doing the pelvic scoop, rotation, and figure eight, my knees are clicking. I don't know that they have done this before.... I'm certain they haven't. And, when doing the leg strengthening exercises, where we are on our toes, heels together, and moving up/down.... isn't that somewhat bad for the knees? That question is purely based on the issues of not over extending knee past ankle while doing lunges/squats. How is that callanetics move any different then a modified squat? |

PROGRESS REPORT!!
Ladies--I could never do the thigh stretching exercise in the 10/10 program where you put your arms behind you and lean back. My thighs are really muscular (with a layer of fat on top) and that particular stretch was painful and impossible for me to accomplish. The most I could do was get one arm behind me and that was difficult. Well this morning I accidentally did it! Now I only held it for a few seconds but I did it. Ahh, the little things... ![]() |

Another hour last night!
napbella that is the same exercise I cannot do. I can barely sit on my heels, so leaning back is impossible and can't even put my hands on the floor at my sides. Good for you for being able to do it. Guess I'll get there eventually... |

This is oftentimes a result of dehydration. Humans should be 70-75% water. The average american is 52-56% water due to dehydration from lack of water and too much soda, coffee, juices, etc. At as little as 3% total body dehyration, water is sacrificed from spinal discs, ligaments, and joints of the body. This makes the tissue more leathery and will at times make that crinkling sound you are talking about. Start by trying to up your water intake. Could also be mild arthritis. Glucosamine and MSM can help with that. You must take these for a few months to get the benefits.
