As far as frequency of Callan, Sandra mentioned in a post not too long ago that 4-5 days a week is fine, esp if you're after even quicker results, but that you should take a couple days of rest every week for the muscle recovery.

The muscles DO need the rest/recovery for optimal reshaping and strengthening.

Finished my first hour of Evolution today-talk about exhaustion! I started Leslie Sansones Walk Away Your Waistline yesterday-finally found some cardio I can do with the Fibro. I finished all 3 miles yesterday and with the addition of the hr of Evolution my legs and hips are definitely feelin it. I so want my hot legs back!

Everyone is doing great!!!

Hello Callan Lovelies!

Did my Evo today and loved it. I really, really love the abs on this DVD. I so feel them working deeply!

But Sandra, I'm so sorry, but I'm still a little confused on what Karen is doing in the leg/hip exercises. I know you said for the standing leg exercises to point my toes to the ceiling- does the pulse then consist of moving my toes outward, away from the center of my body, keeping the heel in the same place?

I guess my confusion is that for both exercises I'm not sure if I'm supposed to be pulsing away from my body, or into my body. Like for the laying down exercises- is my knee supposed to be pulsing up in the bent leg section? And with the strait leg laying down- are my toes pulsing up and sort of backwards, twisting my hip/knee away from the center my body? Geez, can I make these questions any less clear?!!! I guess overall my confusion is which direction in regards to the center of my body I should be pulsing.

Ok, I'm going to go figure out if I can clarify myself!

Anyway, I hope everyone is having a great Sunday! You all have inspired me so much. I am LOOKING FORWARD to doing these DVDs now! Thank you all!

Hi,

Your leg will turn out and then you make a tiny back and forth movement. You will pulsing away from your body. The exercise I sent you was so that you could experience the movement albeit a larger one that was why I suggested flexing the foot. It's so much easier to demonstrate.

Try it this way: Turn your leg out so that the heel is aimed towards ceiling.
Then focus on the heel pulsing up to ceiling. You will see your foot turnout out iin a back and forth motion. But you do want to feel this in your thighs as a wrapping movement so make sure your knees aren't locked.

Are you able to see the movement in the arm exercise? It's the same movement but the thumbs will be sort of 'flicking' (for want of a better word) out to the side. The movement in this exercise is initated from the upper
the arms.

Have you visited the Concepts chaper on the DVD lately? It might be a good idea to do this again - in fact I would recommend at least weekly viewing of the Concepts chapter until they become second nature. CallaneticsConcepts are the key to attaining quicker results so it is worth taking the time initially to master them.

Also, if you ever work with 10/10 or SuperC by applying the Concepts to these exercises you will also get quicker results.

Have fun and I hope this is becoming clearer for you.

Quick question about particular body area -

I know I read something about it here before, and I've looked and looked through the posts today. What is the exercise that helps to reduce that awful bra fat area? You know the area right under your armpit? I feel like I'm losing all over but this area looks soooo bad to me. I can't wear form fitting shirts because of it. Help - please??

Thank you Sandra! That really clarifies things! I so appreciate you time in answering my questions. I also just was thinking the same thing about revisiting the Concepts and wrote it down in my day planner as a Thing To Do.

Can I revisit something here? On the arm exercise description; the back and forth movement is more the thumbs turning 'up and out'. This isolates the upper arm muscles deeper.

PS When you do the back and forth pulse on the 2nd hip and behind exercise with the leg straight - it's pure, amazing deep leg sculpting. Keep the leg stretched out, without locking the knee. Make sure your counterpulls are in place - absolutely no curling the pelvis and wait for that deep sensation of the muscle working. Don't worry if you need to take breathers, it's intense. It's worth doing this in your best position (as with all the exercises).

My students and I love, love, love what this exercise does for your legs. It's great for smoothing out the skin too - so, if it's a problem, you'll see an improvement in orange peel skin/cellulite.

Happy deep back and forth pulsing

Great Sandra, thank you! You are such a great help here!I'm printing all your suggestions out for future reference.

Also, I just wanted to mention to Siamesgirl that it is so inspirational to hear you're still getting results after doing Callanetics for so long! I keep getting paranoid thinking "What if this is all the results I get?" I've only been doing it for about 2 or 3 weeks so I know that's ludicrous but I still have those thoughts that it will stop working at some point- and I still have a ways to go!

YOu've no idea what's in store for you

AFter 21 years of practising Callanetics I'm always blown away with something new that I've learnt about the exercises and my body. I don't know how old you are but you didn't get the body you are carrying around right now overnight. So you are gradually turning back time to unleash your youthful athletic body. You'll see constant changes along the way. If you've plateaued it means your body needs something different and that's why Evolution shows the different pulses.

You have only just tapped the edge of sculpting with Callanetics. Everytime I have time to focus on completing a couple of full on 1 hour sessions of Callanetics a week - by the end of the week I'm walking around in a different body. I feel different, move different and something new has happened to take me further.

For example - because of my scoliosis and neck injuries; keeping my shoulders back and relaxed down was an issue. My shoulder blades used to stick out like wings and it was uncomfortable and difficult to keep my shouldrs aligned.

After incorportating the rotations in to my workout - everything changed in my upper back. I love the feeling of being so stretched and flexible between my shoulders blades. This alone was great but this change of alignment in my shoulders seemed to have an impact further down my body. My hips are opening more and I can lengthen out more.

You never stop sculpting and learning something new about the programs and your body. That's why we devotees never get bored.

Please bear in mind that we all have to be realistic also. We can regain muscle strength and be in our perfect body shape, but there are other factors that kick in with aging. Previous injuries need to be taken in to account and the fact that the skin changes as it ages and starts to lose elasticity. Also, constant dieting and weight changes effects our skin.

Practising Callanetics exercises regularly has so many other benefits that aren't focused on or talked about but they are very theraputic also.

You are practising something so empowering - you are sculpting your body - like an artist with clay.

I did my 7th hour in 9 days today. Feeling good! I'm glad you've been discussing frequency. I'm glad that its ok to do more than every other day once in a while. Especially when you are short term RESULTS ORIENTED.

Thanks for all the welcome backs! And everyone thanks for the clarifications on the specific exercises. Those are super helpful.

After I go on vacation and come back, I am going to do Super Callanetics and Evolution to get ready for a week at the beach. I'll have 4 weeks to smooth the cellulite, reduce the saddle bags, and tame the muffin top. I'll take pictures the whole time to see how fast I can whip this body into shape.

For the past 6-9 months, I've been doing Hot Power Yoga for 1.5 hour sessions 2-3 times a week. its amazing that the results do nothing to approach Callanetics. Its good for the arms and shoulders... And the balance... But the hips, butt and thighs are zapped by Callan only.

Hi Everyone,

I'm afraid it's gonna take a while to catch up on the board! My internet has been down lately, and a couple of days it didn't even go online . I have been busy though as I have a nice plan. I will move my studio into the other side of the house and will more than double the size of my present studio. I can't wait!!!

However, for now, the cardio classes still haven't picked up, it's also half term at the fitness club, and I only have had 4 classes so far. I had 2-5 people in a class. I love to go there though and promote Callanetics a lot in the dressing room. As I only teach Cardio in the club, I will give free "open classes" (mixture of Traditional and Evolution) once a month to introduce and make Callanetics more popular to the club members (starting at the end of this month). People will have the chance to try different variations of Callanetics exercises and to fall in love with them. I pay for the studio rent - and what a reasonable price for such a good advert!

I would love to teach as many people from the thread as possible. So, Ben, don't hesitate!

I don't have the chance to write a lot at the moment but will try to pop in at least to read as many posts as possible every day.

Speak to you soon again,

Agnes

Hey everyone!
As a girl who suffers from bad back pain, and needs to tone up, this seemed like the perfect exercise for me! Unfortunately, my video didn't work!!
However, after emailing eBay and explaining, they offered to sent me the callanetics DVD for only $5.00 postage! Naturally, I'm ecstatic
So...may i join this challenge? I sure would love to be with all you experts....and feel the magic hehe

Sandra, thank you for those comforting words! I am 37 years old and would like to lose about 3.5 inches on the hips and 3 inches on each thigh (although I don't weigh myself now, from past experience I think this comes out to about 15 pounds). Just those two changes would be enough. I suppose I'm just wondering at this point if it's even possible since I've been trying to do it for 3 years now! I would love to think it's an attainable goal! Again, thank you for your inspiration.

Princess, I would think Callanetics would be ideal for someone in your situation. As Sandra mentioned above regarding her own troubles, it is wonderful for the back. I hope you join in!

Keep up the good work everyone!
