Your abs may look bigger even though your waist has pulled in. Your jeans feel tight around the tops of your legs and butt - shock, horror!!! This can be scary for beginners but rest assured that it is normal and take it as a good sign. You are working well and sculpting your body.

Keep working you'll suddenly feel that everything is pulling in and you are sliding easier in to those jeans. Keep working, things can change very quickly if you keep your sessions no longer than 3 days apart.

Im glad you pinpointed this. At a moment I was thinking Callanetics wasnt working for me. My stomach/waist is a little flatter so hopefully my thighs will be next

Yesterday after exercising my legs felt shaky, but otherwise I was okay. This morning I'm sore so I've had DOMS (Twyla - did I get that right? ) Both butt checks, my underarms, my thighs and a little in my waist are sore so I guess I'm working the right places. I'm going to give my body a rest today, but up again at 5 am tomorrow to work it again! Have a great day everyone.

Just finished my first hour of Evolution. Sandrahanna - you are great! You have exactly the right demeanor for leading this type of exercise. Thanks for updating the program with a new dvd. I'll take everyone's advise and go back and forth between the two, with a few days broken up for cardio.

I have just one question - whenever I do abs, I really engage my front neck muscles. I think it's because I'm trying to curl forward. I can't quite figure out how to stop this without losing my curl. When I try to stretch out my crown, I lose the forward curl in my chest/torso. Are my abdominals just too weak to do this yet?

Siamesegirl - you look great! I can only aspire!

I might try that also. Last night after Callan I did the one of the 10 minute dvds but just the arm segment. It flew by in a flash and my arms were burning. So doing this every other day should work for me

If you arent sore after Callanetics does that mean you are doing it wrong? I feel it when Im doing the exercise. Sometimes Im a little shaky afterwards but thats it.

I don't think so, but we'll see what others say. After I laid off a few weeks in February I started back with very few reps and wasn't very sore. Yesterday I tried to do most of the reps and think that's why I'm more sore today. In January when I first started the Evolution DVD I was VERY sore at first, but after awhile not as much. I think it will come and go as our muscles get used to the exercises we won't be as sore, but then as we get stronger we start working the muscles deeper and will get sore again. In the 10/10 book Callan says that some days it will be easy and then some days you won't be able to do as many reps, so I think it's normal. I also think that's why it's recommended to mix up the exercises, so our muscles stay confused and working. Some are mixing traditional with Evolution and even in Evolution there's different types of pulses.
Kathy

Thank you Twyla for posting the info about the soreness - I'm rarely sore the next day either but I'm still seeing great results - can't wait to look like you though!

Another hour of 10 in 10 completed!

I'm going to TRY to post some pictures. Was disappointed what I see in person doesn't show up in photos. Maybe it's just my "mind's eye"?! Anyhow, between the 1st pic on left, taken Feb 4, and the second pic, taken April 2, if you look very closely, you can see there's no love handles above my swimming suit bottoms. There's a smooth line now all along my sides. The third pic was taken Feb 2, and I had my top pulled down cause everything was so ugly. But, in the fourth pic, taken April 2, I wasn't "sucking it in", that's how my stomach looks, pulled in on the sides, front all gooshed together. I'm thrilled with the funny looking pulled in area. I realize I'm not making as swift as progress as I would if I were younger (yes, there IS a curse on your body @ 55!! ) but I WILL NOT give up.
