1hr of Callan Evolution Completed. I think its getting better for me

When I do the 1st ab exercise when you wave in the front then to the sides, I feel this in my upper legs as well, like the sides of my private area. What am I doing wrong? Or is this lower area where the lower abs are worked? This ab exercise is the toughest!

Also on the first set of legs exercises when you are standing, does anyone happen to feel tiredness in the non working standing leg? I do and this effects my working the working leg because I have to stop constantly.

If you are working with 10/10 as you roll the hip forward the knee does turn in towards the floor bringing the foot up but once the knee has lifted it should bring the knee level with the foot. When you are ready to intensify slowly and in a teeny, tiny movement - turn the knee outward towards the ceiling. The hip should not roll back with this movement.

Try this yourself - turn the knee down towards the floor as you pulse, then turn out to bring it level with the knee; it should kick in deeper around the base of the butt.

I read all the posts and I felt that you may start to get confused when I then added my bit.

Thank you, Sandra! I feel like I keep second guessing myself about how I do these! This helps a lot

Hey Thyckcutie, I have to agree with ya on the non-working leg when you do the leg exercises. My leg get so tire, it just shakes. I have found what works best for me is to take more breaks so i can keep my form really good. I have come to realize it's all about form. At first all i use to worry about is to make sure i do all the reps. You're doing good.

Hey Lisa I believe it was you who talk to me about stretch skin, guess what i'm doing? I am using a patch that you put over the loose skin and it's suppose to tighten it up. If it work i'll let you know. It's call no surgery tummy tuck.

Just Finished 4th Hour Total, 2nd hour for April. On top of being sore from the last hour, BF has been distracting me these past three days so I haven't done any Callanetics till today.

It's getting harder! instead of easier. But my neck doesn't kill me as much as before. This time I put my hands behind my neck and sorta held it up as I did stomach. But I think I'm using the wrong stomach muscles cause I jerk a lot from the beginning.

The exercises where you sit on your heels are bit painful for my knees. The first was easiest and it gets harder each hour to stay in that position. I just can't do the plank pose near the end. Everyone else looks like the bottom half of the Zorro "Z" and I look like an "L"

Next time I won't take my magnesium right before callanetics, maybe it started working too soon?
Gotta change my siggy. G'night!

I have done 6 hours of Callanetics to this moment. I keep all poses for 60-100 sec. It is hard for me, but I did these exercises in past, and my body remembers and likes this workout. And after traning I feeling tired, but easy and glad myself.
Callanetics is eligible fo me. I like streches, I like temp of this gymnastic! It's magic...But I am feeling anxiety. I have already done my 6 hours of Callanetics but my thighs are increased in size nearly + 1/2 of inch. And both of legs adds +1/2 inch. The weight does not change.
Is it normal for 6 hours of Callanetics or does it means that I do something wrong?

What you are experiencing is absolutely normal. I tell my students to not be surprised if they feel they are thickening around the thighs, hips and abdomen.

When we practise Callanetics exercises we are lift up quicker than we pull in. We also tone from the chest down so it then seems that everything is meeting in the middle. Your abs may look bigger even though your waist has pulled in. Your jeans feel tight around the tops of your legs and butt - shock, horror!!! This can be scary for beginners but rest assured that it is normal and take it as a good sign. You are working well and sculpting your body.

Keep working you'll suddenly feel that everything is pulling in and you are sliding easier in to those jeans. Keep working, things can change very quickly if you keep your sessions no longer than 3 days apart.

Lying down hamstring stretch

Quote:
Originally Posted by mevluvmark View Post

Mev.
Here 'tis:

1. Lie down legs bent hip width apart
2. Engage your PF and stretch right leg up to ceiling
3. Take both hands around back of leg, elbows out to side and hands above or below knee and gently draw leg in towards you to feel a stretch at the back of the leg.
4. You can then, if you wish stretch the left leg out on the floor
5. Hold the stretch 30 - 50 seconds and focus on tightening the PF deeper while you lengthen the sit bone to the floor and lengthen the heel up.

Repeat other leg

TIPS:

Breathe deeply as you hold the stretch allowing you to relax as much as possible.
Allow your spine to melt in to the floor, your neck is long, open and soft
Keep your elbows out to the side with your shoulder blades down to hips and upper back broad and relaxed.

If you leg starts to shake too much release the stretch slightly. Don't worry if you can't straighten the leg at first.

Remember to move slowly and gently so that you don't aggravate your sciatica. You want a good stretch of hamstring but don't over stretch.

Hope this helps.

Thanks again, Mev

It's okay to do Callanetics everyday but the most important thing is to 'listen to your body'. If you feel very stiff and feeling muscle ache and you feel weary - take a rest for a day or two. Your body will love you for it and when you come back to exercise you will feel everything work deeper.

Never worry about taking a few days off - muscle memory brings you back where you left off in no time.

I always recommend taking at least 2 days off a week to rest your muscles and brain.
