Callaneticsteacher, thanks one more time. when i tightening my lower part of behind ( if I understand correct it is the base of behind? it is base of behind where my upper thight meets the behind?), my pubic bone curl a little up. Is this correct? And then i must curl even more my pubic bone?

I did and I have an inner ear imbalance and Fibromyalgia. I am simply just not strong enough yet to fight the ear imbalance thing and keep up with even the beginner Cardio-there was no way I could follow the med and high skill gals. Hopefully soon I will begin a walking program on my off days from 10 in 10 and will try Cardio after I build up some more strength.

I love to find out what happend with Lane Middleton, i'm sure she got married because in Beginning Callanetics her engagement ring could take your eye out! And George....where is George?

Wasn't Lane Callan's niece? I seem to remember that from the book, but am not sure. I wonder where all those people are from the original and if any of them are still doing callanetics?

Definately a ballet dancer! I think all the guys in 10/10 are slightly famous actors/dancers. Not sure about George though! If you go on this site you can see what they've all done Callanetics (1986) (V)

Didn't Lane say she had the studio in Atlanta? I know it closed but have no idea what she does now.

Completed Hour 2 last night.

Well, I actually feel like I'm not doing the entire hour because of all my breathers. It is so difficult for me to work my left leg during the "behind" exercises. I have zero strength in that leg, but I'll just keep plugging away. Eventually I'll be able to engage it the way I'm supposed to.

Okay, I have a question . . . when doing both of the hip/behind exercise I get a serious burn in my hip/behind when I try to position myself for the other leg. Does anyone else get this? I mean my burn is soooo bad that I have to stop the video to recover before doing the other leg. I've noticed in the video how the students go from one leg to the other with no problem. I only get that initial burn that lasts a good 20 seconds or more, I don't feel sore the next day at all.

I get this all the time!!! Whenever I switch the legs to the leg that I was just working it would be burning at the hip, so I take a breather by pausing the dvd and then I just keep going. Im never sore the next day. I hop this burning means we are doing it right

Yeah, I know! What made me ask is that throughout the tape it's obvious where/when others including Callan experience a tough exercise/rep but they go from one leg to the other leg without missing a beat on the hip/behind!

My suggestion is to pause the DVD momentarily while you stretch the muscles in the leg that's burning. Stretching one's muscles is highly beneficial for various reasons -- regardless of pain/burning, but ESPECIALLY when one experiences the burning sensation. You've just taxed the muscle to fatigue -- and that's a good thing --, but now you want to relax and be kind to that muscle, giving it a "breather" with a nice and gentle brief stretch before continuing.

It would be awesome to have a guy in the DVD also. Going by what I read from you, I reckon you'd be perfect - just your passion is enough, but if you've got the Callanetics bod' - you've it all!! Men get such a delicious body shape when they practise Callanetics - boy those buns are to die for!!!!!

Next time you contact CMC you should mention it - I have emailed and passed this on. This is what is great on this site for me as I really get some great feedback. This allows us to produce something that satisfies.
Ooh, cool, an updated 10/10 would be great! Now, when will Super Callanetics Evolution come out??? (Not that I can do the original yet! )

Hey, i'm so proud of myself, when i done evolution this morning, you know that i was having problems with holding my pelvic floor real tight durning the abs part...........well, i concentrated really hard on holding it tight..........and when i did, it seem like i was able to work my abs with more control, if that makes any sense. I wasn't able to hold it throughout the hold abs part, but what little i did do was a big difference.

23 hrs completed

(As posted by Sandra)............ "There are 3 layers to the pelvic floor muscles and the layer that most of use to hold in urine is the outer layer. In Callanetics we engage from inner layer - which is right at the base of the behind and lies between the sit bones

So, as you exercise always keep the base of the behind tight, tight, tight. Try to think that you are squeezing the muscles between the sit bones to draw them (sit bones) closer together. Callan says in 10/10 to tighten the behind and would keep reiterating this. Basically, she was getting us to keep our PF activated.

If I have a student who is confused by this (remember we use these muscles subconciously) I tell them to think that they are holding in a bowel motion and urine at the same time.

When you do this try to keep the upper part of the behind and lower back relaxed. This becomes easier as your PF strengthens. Most important of all don't stress about it. Trust your natural body instincts...it does become easier.

As you work with the PF more your results accelerate and then look out world!!!!"

Thanks for response Twyla. Let me see if I got this right to engage the pelvic floor I need to tighten my base as if I was holding to hold gas (as I read in other post) and trying to hold my urine. This is so confusing :[!!

Yeah us!! Anyone just starting out...take pictures!! You'll be SO glad you did!

I took photos and measurements yesterday, Thanks. I found that the first hour, the pelvic rotations (where you are kneeling and swing the hips about)were not that difficult, but third hour was excruciatingly difficult and I couldn't do all ten. It's like it is getting HARDER to do some of the moves. Is there a "worse before better" curve when starting this?
