When you do the hip/behind exercise are you supposed to feel it in the sides(oblique) of working leg as well? The second hip/behind exercise I get but the 1st one is still stumping me a lil. Practice makes perfect right |

OK, ya'll convinced me. I requested three of the books from my library and oredered the Beginner Callanetics DVD from Amazon. I took the SuperSaver shipping so I should have about two weeks to prepare myself
.I remember coming in from a 10 mile bikeride when I was about 19, thinking I was quite the athelete, and snickering at my mom and sister doing the original tape. Snickering until I tried to do it myself. Yikes. I don't think the 80s hair and clothes will bother me too much. I used to look like that . |

Hi guys,
You won't believe this! They left out my article from today's paper by mistake ... I'm so upset! I will have to wait another week, and it means that I have no advertisement for my cardio classes (apart from posters in the fitness center). I hope I won't have an empty classroom to teach the first two times. ![]() Ben, I'm not available tomorrow for more then two appointments, and they are filled. Unfortunately my wallbars will not be up before Saturday (or maybe even Sunday). I'm sorry! I really hope to see you during your holiday! I will let you know as soon as my wallbars will be up. I hope tomorrow will be a better day. Good night everybody, you are brilliant! Agnes Last edited by callaneticsteacher : 03-27-2008 at 05:16 PM. |

Oops I posted wrong last time. I just finished hour 7 of 10/10 last night. I also completed a 5K "Fun" Walk Run (3.2 mi) Weds morning. That was definitely an accomplishment for me! First off it was at 6 am and I am NOT a morning person. Secondly I don't like to run...I can run if there is a ball or opponent involved ie soccer, basketball, tennis or rugby but I've never been a track girl. Completed it in 43 mins with more walking than running.
Boy do my thighs burn today. I'm just so focused to get my 10 hours in by the end of the month that even though I was crazy tired yesterday I did my Callanetics before I went to bed. My pants are feeling looser! |

Question for Watch_Me_Shrink and All
First off, I have spent the majority of the night reading this thread - you people are inspiring (I won't say gals because the one gent who posts here rocks!)
First question: Watch_Me_Shrink (Twyla?) is Callanetics all you do (for strength/toning)? Because your results are way beyond impressive and I'd be willing to give up all my weight training if you were to tell me that you were only doing Callanetics to get the body you have! All: What do you think of the Quick Callanetics workouts? I have the 10/10 and have been thinking of buying these as add-ons (I can't fit in an hour every day but can fit in shorter workouts at least three days a week and an hour the other days). Are they worth buying? Thanks and I'm going back to reading - I'm only 1/2 way through the thread!! |

I just completed hour 1 of 10/10 tonight. I'm amazed, it didn't feel like an hour. Normally if I'm on the treadmill 10 min feels like an hour. I am very relaxed, so I hope I was doing it right. I know I have to work on my form a bit and my musceld are extremely tight, so it will take a while, but I am very excited. I just found something I know I can stick with!

How long for smaller hips?
Out of encouragement and curiosity, for those of you with larger hips, how many hours did it take before you saw a change?

For me personally, I know there's a change in my thighs because I can now fit into a certian pair of jeans. But I measured my hips and I don't see a change in that yet. TIA. (Thanks in advance :-)) |

Okay, I'm officially turning into a pusher.
I have a coworker that's here from India for a 6 month training stint and she's gained soooo much weight since being here in the USA. I've told her to stop trying to eat all the American food that she's eating and go back to eating the way you did in India. Anyway, she is sooooo interested in trying Callanetics. She's watched my body transform in such a short time. She was blown away when I told her that I haven't lost one pound. I already have my Mom on deck. Once she gets back from Jamaica she's gonna start. What's really exciting to me right now is that I'll get to watch someone elses body transform. I think that would really be cool. |

WOW.....One of the nicest compliments I've EVER received. I began with 10 in 10 (avg 3 x per week) til I reached 60+hours, then switched to Super, 3 x a week, but I've always included upper body weights (8-10 lbs avg for 20-30 mins) 2 or 3 x a week, because I've never felt challenged enuf with Callanetics only for upper body, and I wanted more definition in my upper body. But for lower body, CALLANETICS ROCKS.Quote:
. SNUCKLES, if you've never tried Turbo Jam's Ab Jam, you might want to give it a go. I think it's an AWESOME ab workout, and I do it 2 x a week on avg in addition to all of Super's ab stuff. Love it. .

Weight training is highly effective, and I'm a huge supporter of strength training because of the metabolic advantages it offers, in addition to the definition it gives. I would encourage anyone to invest in some dumbbells and give it a go. I've never lifted heavy (in the truest sense of the term), and I still get great results. I currently use mostly 10 lb weights. 8's for some deltoid work. 15 for bicpes and triceps. But I began using 3 to 5 lb weights, and just advanced up. Yes, the results are very noticeable very quickly if you're consistent with it and watch what you eat -- the two combined works best. ![]() |

I just got my DVD yesterday and couldn't wait to get started. Since we started on the same day and we're the same age we can be great motivators for each other. I did cramp a little on the hip stretches and one of the leg stretches. I took a few mini breaks but managed to finish pretty strong. I have extremly tight leg muscles so I have to take it slow and work on my form, but I definately find this to be user friendly. How did your first time go? |

... I think you can go to your profile, choose edit options and then you should see something in the middle of the page about enabling private messages. My first time went ok, however my neck was hurting. I was pretty good with everything else. I definitely need to work on my form though, so that's my goal for the weekend. I expect to get better and better with consecutive hours in. Things are good so far though, no major complaints. |

another hr. completed, i think i have a total of 21 hrs
![]() , I believe i will start super callan when i get my forms really good, so i really don't know when i will start. I know the most important part of callan is the form, i'm realizing it now. The form is so important, there's like a light that goes off in your head after you tweak it a little. I know the more hrs i have the better my form gets. I'm beginning to listen real good to what callan is saying when i'm performing the exercises.Twyla i really likes turbo jam ab jam, it's really works those obliques especially the standing part. I really need help in that area, you know those dreadful lovehandles. ![]() Mev |
