MoutainGirl, I started 10/10 before I even knew this board existed. You can get started just by watching the DVD. You will/can perfect your form over time. Please don't feel overwhelmed! Break open that shrink wrap and log your 1st hour.

Congrats HarleyGirl on hour 10! What do you mean ~ small change in hips/thighs? After 10 hours you only see a small change in your hips?

I did CardioCal today for first time since December--whew it really made me sweat! (Although I don't have a/c and it was pretty hot!)

I have a really hard time with the stationary leg during the standing leg work in CardioCal and CalEvolution--it hurts my standing hip/thigh so much that I have to stop to give the leg that's not doing any work a break! Does anybody else have this problem or have suggestions as to how to deal with it?

Hope everybody has a great weekend! I am not quite a callan addict but I am developing the habit!

Just finished my 9th hour! I completed all of the stomach exercises my abs, my abs I think I should get extra credit because one of my kitties decided to take a nap on mom's tummy while she did these! She just would not get off-my husband almost got the camera! I followed Callaneticsteachers recommendations about resting on the hand for the hip/behind exercises and I was able to do them all-I feel so proud and I wasn't screaming in pain either. I felt good and energized and I was able to complete all of the exercises but the pelvic rotation. I haven't noticed any loss of inches yet but my belly and abdomen are in major jigglypuff mode right now. It's looks so disgusting as this ugly fat is breaking up. I am hoping it will whoosh away soon!

The 10 in 10 is more about tightening and toning with visible loss of inches-not for weight loss. Marsha hasn't lost any weight but dropped to a size 10. In the book she advises to throw away your scales or stash them in a closet. Here's a quote from her book.

"First, throw away your scales, or at least stash them in a closet where you won't be tempted to weigh every time you walk past them. Your body will quickly begin to go through some rather impressive changes. If you weigh yourself to check your daily progress you may be in for quite a shock. The scale will not reflect your success as truthfully as your mirror and your clothes.

When you start doing these exercises, you will no doubt discover more important pluses of your own. As you start to pull in, you will experience some surprising changes. For one, you may even show a weight gain of up to six or seven pounds. The trauma of putting on poundage could be so startling that it might throw you off your program. It is not uncommon for students to gain pounds, according to the scale, while dropping two or even three dress sizes. Every pound you lose looks like two"

Good going, everyone. We're really collecting the hours together, aren't we! Today, I went back to 10/10, my 14th hour for just it, 33 hours altogether. My Turbo Jams came today, but haven't had a chance to preview them. I did get in a really good cardio/upper body workout, one I hadn't done for years...Firm Upper Body Split. Don't need anything for lower body since Callanetics works so well for that and this one is all upper, some abs and cardio interspersed throughout. Sweaty, need to get that off and get to bed since we lose an hour tonight. Nitie nite.

planetbenjamin, what was the tiny correction?? sometimes i think i must not be doing it correctly, since i'm not feeling it deeply. i roll my hip forward, i try to tip up, but it makes my leg very tense and i'm not sure that's right. i do feel that i do it better when my hand is on my hip so i can feel it working, but i can also feel my leg working, which is supposed to be relaxed -- right?

Good morning to all, and welcome to newbies. We have a lot of new challengers, and that's wonderful!

Good job, Freeing, and seeing the scale progress.

And Mev, those positive comments from others are what keep us going and support the integrity of Callanetics.

Just want to add a comment about how I remember being uncertain about my form the first few hours of Callan, feeling that it felt awkward, not just right, etc., worrying that I was not doing it right, etc. I just kept listening to Callan's instructions, watching carefully the models perform the exercises, and sometimes other C. challengers would offer up tips from the book that would help.

My point: Don't be intimidated at first and get caught up in your "inability" to get the form right. It gets better and you will find it easier as you go along.

Wanted to mark my spot. I'm hoping to get in an hour today. Need to be at church early this morning, and again later this afternoon. Hopefully I can work it in.

Everyone have a good day.

This may sound strange but try to actually breathe into your leg to help it relax. Really try and let go of the muscles you are not using.

Agnes gave me two corrections. For the first hips and behind exercise (with the leg bent) she corrected the position of my foot in relation to my knee. Try experimenting to find what is right for you. I had my foot kind of pointing up in the air which felt natural as my hip was rolled forward. But if you let your foot go down closer to the floor (without leting your hip go) then it seems to make it work much deeper. Does that make sense? I actually find that exercise a challenge now which I never used to.
With the second exercise (with the leg straight out to the side) Agnes got me to roll my leg over even more than i thought I could. It made it so much harder which was great!
Let me know if that helps.

That does make sense...I found this out about 2 workouts ago I couldn't figure out why I couldn't feel it where I was supposed to...then I played around with positioning and really trying to relax everything I wasn't focusing on, this helped a lot!
I am finding, the better my form and relaxation to other parts of my body I am not using, the more I feel it the next day too!

I am down to 160lb today and can't wait til tomorrow to weigh in!!! It feels like the 160's lasted forever...though I know they didn't.
I did add carbs back in and it seems to have started consistent weight loss again!
I hope everyone has a great day!!!!

Hey, I'm used to not losing any weight. I am hoping for middle and back fat loss. I will take your advice and put my scale in a place that is too inconvient to be jumping on it all the time. I will weigh tomorrow and take pictures , then pack it away for 3 weeks. I am excited.. Thanks for taking the time to type that all out to help me. Looking forward to the next 3 weeks.

You should do great with that attitude! Who cares if we weigh 300 lbs as long as we fit in that size 8 slinky black dress!

Wobbly wobbly...

Super Callanetics done. My buns are sore, and I can't walk without keeping my knees bent.

It's a great feeling.

But, for the life of me, I still can't wrap my head around how Dever does all 40 pelvic rotations without even breaking her rhythm! If any of you have the superhuman strength to do this (and still crack a smile at the end), please post pics of your thighs. I bet they can crack walnuts!
