#2. My lower back is out of whack (hoping all the stretching will help that)
#3. I don't have stomach muscles
#4. I can't wait to do it again

Thanks for putting me onto this great tape. I have to find time to take pictures sometime today. That is SCARY...
Lauri,
Don't worry if you can't finish the whole 1 hour workout, it would be too much for you & you realize that. Just keep working up in your reps and you will build stength FAST. Callanetics is great for your back & stretching it feels great!!

Wow, after seeing Marsha's pics in the main lobby and looking through all you guys posts I am dusting off my 10/10 and starting tomorrow.

If I get brave enough I am going to before photo just to track cellulite reduction.

Twyla, you are fabulous, I have been lurking for quite some time and your pics and dedication are amazing!

Thanks. I guess I was just shocked at how out of shape I really am. Thought I was fairly active, but this proves otherwise.

Do you think I could do it two days in a row?

Gotta take some pictures tonite.

I couldn't even get my left leg off the floor for the hip one where they hold onto the bar. What do you guys hold onto for that exercise?

Greetings and welcome new ones. For those worried about physical limitations, if you can get ahold of Callan's book "10 Years Younger in 10 Hours", you will really benefit from the welcoming, anything is good as longs as it's your best attitude. On pages 171-174, there's an inspiring chapter "Overcoming Problems". Callan includes pictures of a student "Tara" that has severe scoliosis and lupus, has to wear shoes to help her balance, plus one leg is much shorter than the other, doing the workout. I'm learning that this takes a different "mind-set" than typical workouts. You don't push or prode, you relax and "bless" (for loss of a better term) your body with these gentle movements, and you can almost hear the body "purr". Lauri, when I exercise in my "office" I use my big old oak desk. I can't pull it over on myself. When I exercise in the family room, I use a very sturdy ladder-back chair, anchored. Oh, today got in a glorious bike ride and another hour of 10/10.

Hello everyone, tonight I finished my 8th hour. My abs are really getting strong and the neck issue I had with the ab exercises is just about gone, yippie! I guess my neck had to get stronger.

I'm talking with the teacher in Ann Arbor and will probably do a 1 on 1 with her since it doesn't look like I can make it to any of her normally scheduled classes.

Hi everyone. I have recently tried t-tapping and I've got some questions for you guys. I've bought 2 different t-tapp dvd's recently and I've been frustrated and upset since trying them out. I think t-tapp is absolutely wonderful IF you can figure out the technique. There are certainly many inspiring success stories but there are also some people that struggle with it for a very long time before seeing results and some that never quite get the hang of it at all. There is really a LOT to concentrate on with each move and I feel like t-tapp has a pretty big learning curve for many people. Unfortunately I don't live near a trainer where I can go to classes to get help with my form so I feel kind of lost right now with it.

I am 43 year old female. The only type of exercising I have really done on a consistent basis in the past is walking on the treadmill. And I haven't even done that regularly for a whole year. I have gained weight horribly in the past year. Like 35 pounds. I was down to about a size 12 last year at this time and right now I'm in an 18 So I'm extremely out of shape and feeling absolutely terrible about myself. I have about 70 pounds to lose to get to goal. I really thought t-tapp was the answer to help me to get in shape but I just don't feel like I have the patience to learn the complicated technique of t-tapp right now and I'm wondering if I should give callanetics a try.

Are callanetics pretty easy to learn? I am really hoping it's a lot easier to learn than t-tapp.

Do you see results quickly?

Do you ever feel like callanetics gets boring because there are so many reps involved?

From what I've read, it seems like 10 in 10 is a good place to start. Do you guys think that one is OK for a beginner like me? I'm going to check with my library and see if they have it so I can try it out.

I am really feeling hopeless and sad about my size and my weight right now so I have got to get my act together and start doing something soon so I can finally start to feel better about myself. I'm an extremely dedicated low carber but exercise has always been my weak spot.

I'd be really interested to hear any comments you guys might have for me.

EDITED TO ADD: The reason that I first thought I would want to consider trying callanetics is because I happened to stumble upon lildragonfly's amazing pictures. Thank you so much for posting them. What an inspiration you are!

Welcome to all of the newbies!

I did Cardio Callanetics for the first time yesterday - just the cardio. It was nice, but not enough of a burn for me. I think I will need to add another 30 minutes of something else when I do it.

Benjamin - Thanks for the inspiration. I will try to schedule with the instructor and keep you all posted on the outcome.

The plan for today is spinning this morning and 10/10 this evening.

Dreamchaser,

10 in 10 is always a good place to start. You will probably see results quickly. You should probably take measurements and pictures before you start, if possible.

What I must say is that you will not lose any weight doing Callanetics alone. Callanetics will just re-position what you already have, basically tighten & tone. You will lose inches and probably a dress size or two. I would recommend Callanetics along with some kind of cardio activity to get your heart rate up.

Dream, you have no time to feel hopeless. You have the rest of your life ahead of you and you might as well live it feeling & looking great! Sounds like you're ready to take control and get on with the business at hand. You can do it! Just be sure to check in often for advice, support and motivation.

I'm sure others will chime in shortly here.

As for me, I measured today I was going to wait but, I couldn't!
Now I don't have exact measurements from before because they are on my toher computer which broke, but DH remembered most of it he thinks, plus I just don't know them down to the 8ths YK?

So
Under bust: 38.5inches----> 36 inches
waist: 36 inches------> 33 7/8 inches
belly pooch: 41.5 inches-----> 37 and 7/8ths
hips: 41.5 inches-----> 39 inches
Thighs: 22 1/4 inches------> 21 1/8 inches

More than 12 inches since before Callanetics I am loving that my belly pooch is actually smaller than my hips now

I did a 30 minute quick workout this morning, so I am not counting it as my hour, but will do my 12th hour tonight after our trip to the zoo!

Hi Dreamchaser & Welcome!!Are callanetics pretty easy to learn?
beginning Callanetics would be a great DVD for you, Callan goes through the exercises step by step.

Do you see results quickly?
Yes, Yes, Yes, lots of people have seen results within a few hours, or less. As for me i saw visable results almost right away. NO Joke!!

Do you ever feel like callanetics gets boring because there are so many reps involved? No!! It goes by so fast.
1 hour is gone before you know it!

Wow Freeing! Congratulations for major inch loss there!!! I can't wait for my pooch to be smaller then my hips. Why were you going to wait to measure? You've hit the magical 10th hour, were you going to wait for the 20th hour to measure?

Callan is simple to learn, but not so simple to master right from the get-go. It takes a few times to get the hang of it, because so much emphasis is put on form. But it's not as daunting as it sounds. It's difficult in the sense of completing all the reps, but not difficult in the sense of knowing how/what to do. Callan makes it very clear in her instructions, esp if you watch the workout through for the first time.

Do you see results quickly?

Yes. That's an understatement. I saw results after the first few sessions. I went down 2 sizes in 6 weeks. I'd say that's quick enuf for me.

Do you ever feel like callanetics gets boring because there are so many reps involved?

That is a subjective issue. Some do, some don't. Those who don't are typically anal/obsessive types that look a little deeper at things. By that I mean simply: Yes, there are a lot of reps, not a lot of hoop-lah and high-energy atmosphere, such as you'd see in a workout like Turbo Jam. But it's NOT that kind of workout. I do it because it frikkin works! I'm not in this workout for the atmosphere. I'm in it for its integrity.

From what I've read, it seems like 10 in 10 is a good place to start. Do you guys think that one is OK for a beginner like me? I'm going to check with my library and see if they have it so I can try it out.

Yes.

Maybe with our support and inspiration you can give this a try and it will be a turning point for your attitude on working out.
